  • Great version of another genius of music...but WHEN I HEARD this version... Hey joe from Jimy H., this is another galaxy it must be Peter´s voice was really good one

  • Hey Peter. RIP.

  • rip pete

  • @LumpyTheMetalhead GAYDAR

  • @LumpyTheMetalhead You actually think they made a cover of Hendix's song to disrespect him?

  • @LumpyTheMetalhead jimi stole alot of his technique from alot of olds blues players.Hes nothing more than an overrated hack. Fuck you hippie

  • @catkong7 wow... now there's one of the dumbest things i've heard in awhile... most would say it "influenced" him... ya know?

Perry Farrell said it best... "if you got some big fucken secret then why don't you sing ME something?"

  • @zilvertung Do your homework, Jimmi was notorious for stealing other blues players guitar work right on down to photographing their hands while playing to try to directly lift off their technique lol.The guy wasnt anything great at all rather many people still venerate him simply because you "have to" because he is another relic from some long gone period of music.

As far as perry farrel goes fuck him too XD

  • @catkong7 homework? i've played guitar for like 25 years dude... currently play in 2 different bands... my main one being all original... and learned over the years from TONS of people including Jimi... who gives a shit what he did to learn... you HAVE heard him play right?

the Perry comment was for you... unless you can do something better (and even if you could) quit dissing people and maybe use all that pent up anger for something more constructive... Pantera did it... what are you doing?

  • @zilvertung So because you play guitar that dismisses the well documented evidence that hendrix was notorious for ripping off the older blues players riiiiiiiiiiight Yes i have heard jimi play and as reb beach said he needs to learn to tune his damn guitar lol I'm not saying he was complete crap but im tired of all these puds coming in here shitting on covers from the 60s simply because they think its sacrilege. The 60s are long gone and the fans who cant move on need to get a grip.

  • @catkong7 well that was better said... and no, me playing for 25 years doesn't dismiss anything, just letting you know i've been around the block a few times... ... ... personally i love a ton of different music (even Winger-Reb), diff covers or songs, anything that's a piece of real music or a different take on it... ... ... the one thing about Jimi's guitar being in tune though... he used to use that whammy relentlessly and if you've ever played a Strat they are notorious for going out of tune

  • @catkong7 go to m-y-s-p-a-c-e and slash blackwednesdaymusic and you can go hear some of our stuff... name has recently changed to Escaping Evil now due to copyright issues we ran into but i haven't had time to go change everything over yet... those songs are all recorded in our bass players garage... and still need to be professionally mixed and all... but you'll get the idea...

  • @catkong7 Man, you're dumb. A lot of people refine their technique as athletes by watching other people play, and same goes for musicians. And the blues scene that Hendrix played in for many years before becoming a star was not the tight-assed copyright music industry of today. People would use other peoples riffs and tunes and incorporate it with their own stuff all the fuckin time, and it was a gamble whether it was your own stuff or someone else's that would make you famous.

  • @Mishaxhi theres a difference between studying/ being influenced and strait out ripping someone off.Hendrix did the latter and he did it to albert king. buddy guy and bb king. The only problem is the cracked out hippies who worshiped him are too high/dumb to go have known it.

Want proof? Look at the idiots complaining about Type o ruining a jimmy song.. jimmy didnt even write hey joe LOL and it was covered by many bands before him as well. But lets not let herp derping get in the way

  • Type O 4 Life...RIP Green Man

  • ** Nice Cover~Twist..... Leave it to Type O- to cover a song, all while putting their creative twist on it and it becomes a better version. But they could've covered " The Itsy Bitsy Spider " and with Pete's deep slower vocals....... it still would've sounded Amazing. Type O- Rocked It..... miss you Pete !!! **

  • Last night I killed my lady

    I caught her screwing around

    With every guy in town

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE

  • i'll take that D-TRAAAIIIIIIIINNN!!!!!!!

  • This is interesting- This was originally recorded by Los Angeles band The Leaves in 1965. It is unclear who wrote this song. Many people believe it was written by Chester Powers (aka Dino Valenti of Quicksilver Messenger Service), but Hendrix himself - and also The Leaves - attribute it to William (Bobby) Roberts. No one has been able to copyright it, so the song is considered "traditional," meaning anyone can record it without paying royalties.

  • RIP To Peter Stelle, May 2010

  • @wilfredo1080 not may april dude but hell yeah RIP PETER

  • Hey Joe is a Billy Roberts song NOT Hendrix

  • Original Lyrics: "Hey Joe, where you going with that gun in your hand..." This is a version of Hendrix "Hey Joe" - I LIKE THIS ONE BETTER!

  • @GIMEchip Sorry, but I gotta say it: BLASPHEMY!!

  • @tommyt1971 not blasphemy, just an opinion. I love Hendrix, but I absolutely love T-O-N - I've been around for many a long years, and my musical tastes cover the entire musical spectrum. I listen to everything from gospel to black metal to whatever. Currently enjoying some Yo Ya Ma. -GIMEchip -R.I.P. Peter Steele

  • @GIMEchip Very cool to know you've got varied musical tastes, don't lose 'em! And I was half-joking anyway.

  • @GIMEchip Hendrix covered it the true singer is Billy Roberts

  • @msnikish1 - Thanks! I did not know that - but I'm going to seek out and listen to the original. Much appreciated.

  • @GIMEchip I love this version too but- Me Dad was friends with Hendrix so....I really like his as well ;0)

  • @WENCHY101 As others have pointed out - Hendrix' version was a cover as well.

  • @GIMEchip I posted this months ago:

So- why are you bringing up Hendrix? (Who was a friend of me Dad's)

  • @WENCHY101 I was just trying to correct some of my earlier comments. I had only ever heard Hendrix & Type-O's versions. Before I posted here - I had no clue that others came before them. It is so cool that your Dad & Hendrix were friends. By the way - I love your hair (your pic was attached to the message in my inbox) - :-)

  • @GIMEchip No problem ;0)

Dad was a great, cool guy!

He was a sound engineer for The Doors. Friends with Hendrix. He dated Grace Slick. Knew many other famous people. He just passed away last year- I miss him so much =(

Thanks bout the hair~! It's flammin blood red now though~! (lol)

  • @GIMEchip , yes we know. we just happen to like this one better.

  • @GIMEchip

Hey Joe is not a song of Jimy Hendrix...

  • @AleksejFedorovic yes it is, who do think wrote it

  • @EnergizerBunny804

    From wikipedia:

While claimed by some to be a traditional song, or often erroneously attributed to the pen of American musician Dino Valenti, "Hey Joe" was registered for copyright in the U.S. in 1962 by Billy Roberts. Scottish folk singer Len Partridge has claimed that he helped write the song with Roberts when they both performed in clubs in Edinburgh in 1956

  • @AleksejFedorovic oh, so Hendrix didn't write, I am corrected

  • @EnergizerBunny804 Hey, no I admit I was wrong - the Hendrix version was also a cover. I am a Hendrix Fan and I never knew about the Billy Roberts version until all of these wonderful folks pointed it out. I love YouTube - it is a learning experience.

  • @GIMEchip I am replying to myself to say, as others have pointed out, the song "Hey Joe" was originally by Billy Roberts and the Hendrix' version was thus also a COVER. Still - I love the Type-O-Negative version best, but that is just because I am a huge T-O-N FAN. I also like their cover of Cinnamon Girl - R.I.P. Pete.

  • @GIMEchip - I'll be damned, really?:-O

  • Great song :)
