I was pleased to find out that a "non-vandalized" print of this Casper cartoon still exists, i.e., with the original Paramount Noveltoon Jack-in-the Box, the Casper song, the Famous Studios tag and complete credits, the Paramount copyright bug and the Paramount mountain at the end - no Harvey stuff. My friend, I hope you are reading this as I told you I'd be posting this comment. PLEASE upload that print; that's a DIAMOND mine and a reminder wien there was still pride at Paramount.
I remember watching this cartoon as a kid, and having a crush on the sweater girl in the audience (I was only 6 at the time). A few years later, our local station would snip out the theatre marquee, probably because they didn't want to give free advertising to a rival channel's show!
At 3:02, that's supposed to be a caricature of famous newspaper columnist and radio "newscaster" Walter Winchell (perfectly impersonated by Sid Raymond!) delivering a news flash. The real Winchell didn't appear on TV regularly until 1953....and he wore HIS hat on camera, too!
In earlier TV prints of this 1952 cartoon, the scenes of the marquee advertising "THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW" {aka "TOAST OF THE TOWN", as it was known back then} were eliminated. Incidentally, that IS Sullivan's voice introducing Casper....Jackson Beck and Jack Mercer are some of the ghost voices- Beck also doubles as the "Mayor"...
why do those bad ghosts wanna scared people? Why they should act friendly like Casper? Man, I love Casper since I was a kid. WAY TO GO, CASPER AND YOU, NINJA9RR!
Dude, the fire-demons were scared of Casper!

Jackson Beck..God Bless His Soul was the voice
of the leader of the mean ghost..his voice is the
same one that he used for"Bluto"in the"Popeye"films.

Mercer was the voice of one of the mean ghosts..
he was also the voice of the cabbie that"Casper"
unknowingly scares away.

At that time?
The series was not known as"The Ed Sullivan Show"
..it was called "Toast Of The Town"from 1948 to 1955.
