Streets of Rage was easily among my most-played childhood games, and one of my all-time faves of the 16-bit era. It's definitely due to this game that I'm such a fan of action titles and beat em ups. The 16-bit era was definitely the golden age of the genre, and even the best of this day tend to be underappreciated.

I read Fighting Force was supposed to be Streets or Rage 4 but Sega backed off because it would be released on other systems so Eidos changed the name to Fighting Force.

thats good though because the game would of been shit, but this video here would of been a great sor4 game, if they made a streets of rage 4 and avertised it as the best beat em up game then it would sell and with MAX,ADAM,BLAZE,SKATE,AXEL,DR.Z­AN and ROO as playble character that would be the best mix up of characters and who wouldnt like it, its a shame they dont make this today

It would take a mixture of mean hardware and revolutionary game mechanics to make a 3d beat em up successful in this day n age, however it would be much easier and true to the genre's roots if the gameplay was still 2d, but maybe with 3d stages or backgrounds. If anyone's played a game like R-Type Final on the ps2 then you'll know what I mean as it works well

The game that you played on the dreamcast was dynamite cop, when I first played it, I was thinking about the Streets of Rage series. It's a really fun game, but for me nothing beats Streets of Rage.
