In Metal Hammer they told people that this was the worst Opeth-album, and that we better would avoid it. I think that this is some of the best songs ever made by Opeth. They're totally wrong!

People wasn't such open-minded in 1995,and it was very difficult those days for opeth to be so successful...Their music is so complex and that's the reason that every year they become a little more successful than the previous year...In my opinion Orchid is a masterpiece,one of the best albums ever!!!! Watershed is their worst album, even worse than Damnation. That's not to say Watershed is a bad album, it's an excellent album, just compared to what Opeth usual standard Watershed is pretty weak.

I find myself going back to Watershed more than the other albums, tbh. Mainly for the The Lotus Eater, Burden, and Hessian Peel.

I feel that Ghost Reveries was their worst album, imo.

Thats just for each person to judge. In my opinion Watershed has completely different style compared to Orchid, or even an album like Deliverance. I would say that watershed actually is closer to progressive rock than any of their other albums. Just listen to Hessian Peel, progressive rock all the way. I dont think Watershed is an album for people who thinks that everything needs to be "metal".

I agree with them after studying music composition. I suggest you study music composition or try cooking a huge meal, beer making, guitar building anything that takes a process to build. Try to understand these elements in nature and you will become closer to making great art.

Mikeal Ackerfaldt's growl is deeper and more intense on this album than the newer stuff. (Not quite as intense as his growl with Bloodbath, but still deep). It works though. Opeth is a brilliant band, and I hope they keep making great music.

I'm not a black metal fan at all... I listened to this mainly because friend of mine said that he equated Opeth to being the Pink Floyd of Black Metal. The music is good, but the growling just takes me out of the music. The band is talented, but black metal just isn't my thing.

The music isn't classified as Black Metal, btw. It's mainly known as Progressive Death Metal. And yes, you can easily get over (or in my case, grow to love) the growling. In any case, you should check Opeth's other songs that feature both melodic and growl vocals or even just the melodic vocals.
