Actually during the reach invasion Linda was killed due to a plasma shot what went through her armour John (117) took her body and put it in a cryo tube during when the poa was going down her tube drifted in space and halo was destroyed John found her tube took it aboard but her vital lines were still flat during John was on halo spartans were being developed on onyx so John isn't the last spartan

She was CLINICALLY DEAD (means she was simply DEAD) -there was no doubt of that. STILL if they could get her to a fleet hospital, they might be able to resuscitate her. It was along shot but she was a spartan.)

Ok, It was Linda who died inside... um.. i think its Gamma station, however John and Linda met up with Johnson, Jenkins an the other marines. Linda DIED when she was going to open the doors for Johns pelican. They took Lindas body with them and put her in a cryo tube onboard the Autumn.

Master chief also finds Kelly who was" thought to be dead" and yeah if u read the books...
