I think we had 500 pressed, I have only one scratched copy left. I think we gave them all away. The copy on utube is very good. I have to figure out how to put it on a disc. This is the only recording we did when I was in this band for app. 5 yrs. The Soul Medics started out in '68 with four black and three white guys, peaking at 13 players w/5 horns and back to 7 players over the years until 2001 or so.
They were always in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. Are you a musician? What do you play etc???
I played drums on this record in 1969 with the 'Soul Medics', who later changed their name to the 'Hi-Tension'. Both singers, Butch Gillespie & Bobby Sparks have passed away. Other band members: Randy Vater (guitar), Rick Jennings (bass), Mike Brooks (trumpet), Walter Coleman (Sax), and myself Jack Bresser (drums). Side B - 'Danny Boy', was also a big hit in the clubs at that time. Anyone remember us at The Lagoon Inn, Roundup Club etc. ??????
@jackanddianeb It´s very nice to hear from you! and they played Danny Boy at the club in the early days? Unbelievable totday! I could never play a ballade at the club. it´s sad woman and men didn´t dance together nowadays. can you tell us how many records were pressed and how many other tracks you have released?? would be great to hear. thanks and greetings
@jackanddianeb OMG that's so great to read this comment! I'm a female DJ from the UK and this is one of my favourite tunes and I play it out a lot. Amazing
@Arpelsin I have three pictures of the Soul Medics from that era( late 60's early 70's) . I will email them to you if you give me an address to send them to. We don't quite look the same now !! It's nice to know people on both sides of the ocean like that song as much as I do. Have you listened to the flip side Danny Boy? It also went over well, the singer Butch Gillespie was a great tenor. It is also on YouTube.
@HowarthsNJ The first time I heard this song Sam & Dave put it on the 'B' side of 'I Thank You' in the sixty's. The Soul Medics covered it in '69 and the Fabulous Thunderbirds had a hit with it in the 80's. What a great song and made the T-Birds well-known.
