I have personal knowledge of a child who was diagnosed with 'depression' (who doesn't get depression at some point when they're a child?). From there, that child was diagnosed with 'bipolar disorder' and 'attention deficit disorder'. They are taking at least 4 pharmaceutical drugs for these conditions.
I suspect taking these drugs actually worsen symptoms, and even work against each other, requiring higher doses. You only have to watch TV for about 30 mins to see how these drugs are peddled.
