I love this video. The part where you have the camera on the finished duck and vegetables and it is so silent that it makes me think about you having a lonely Christmas. Like "Who is going to eat this with... oh yeah no one is here. v.v"
I actually watch die hard every Christmas(week of Christmas). and I realized every Network station plays it during the month of December, close towards Christmas air TV edits of die hard. so I do believe it's a Christmas movie. although it's not a "Christmas movie"
wat the hell, kfc's comercial in japan is retared no offense. they use little kids in it! kids trying to sell fatty food to other kids and make them fat!! im disgusted. *_*
And I can tell that the one thing I'll miss most about America is having a full size oven. Maybe I can find one of those cookware sets on the infomercials that let you bake on the stovetop . . .
O My Goodness~ Man! That Crepy Riendeer!...well that was made from a picture of a HORSE's Head! that they put Atnlers on! Yer Videos Crack me Up for sure. Oh & BTW~ It appears as though you may be..well, losing wieght buddy. I hope you're OKAY~ doing okay with your eatting habbits there. EAT Up the foods that you love that are Japense! I Hope you are doing well. Best Regards
Only 1% of the population is Christian/Catholic, so Christmas isn't Celebrated like it is in America. KFC, and pizza delivery are very busy during this time of the year and also popular.
$55 for a stinkin poinsettia?!?! That porn shop ad is epic: "サンタもびっくりお得価格!! "クリスマスなんてぶっ飛ばせ!
Mr. Cooney, seems that 2009 was a very very busy year for you but I think that means you're enjoying a lot of success. I'm proud to say I was there to witness the star in the making! Good luck in '10 and may your snarkiness live on.
Western food recreated in foreign countries , especially Japan, always ends up so lame. The food you made in the little oven looked nice, but not Christmas dinner nice was it?
Bahaha! XD When you were checking out the christmas films, i heard someone was losing at "Stacker" glad to know those are in Japan. Merry Christmas and happy holidays Cooney!
omfg smexy hair + hawt glasses! *fetish spasms* .. one thing- are u sure its safe to leave a towel ontop of that oven? haha thats some perverted looking reindeer xD
depends on how you look/threat at them... im half Japanese lived in both japan and usa but ive seen more racist stuff in usa than japan... maybe because of where i live (SC) but anyway.. lol.. and stop being stereotype.. or stop believing in stereotypic stuff. peace.
Actually; it's not Christmas without True Lies... I still don't understand why BBC1 shows that move every year without fail. No xmas is complete with out a little Arnold.
Suppose I'm not that much better. My xmas in Japan video choice was Terminator: Salvation... which of course included a short cameo appearence from a butt naked Arnie - so that's how statesmen make a bit of extra on the side in the US.
I have to find that multi-tier oven you used. Mine is one of those single tier crappy things. Guess I'll be body checking people on the 2nd or 3rd at Bic Camera to get a cool oven.
Got the oven on rakuten. Bic Camera was totally freaking useless. They have super expensive automated ovens. Mine was like 80 bucks online. Don't even bother with the electronic shops.
^^ The reason everything was open is because there aren't a lot of Christians in Japan so Christmas isn't really all that big, just a time to spend a lot on pretty decorations, they celebrate the commercial version and even then, it's usually only lovers who celebrate Christmas. ^^
99% of Japan look Christmas as an event, not religious stuff at all... usually families and lovers who celebrate Christmas.... i got Christmas presents every year when i lived in Japan.... New Year is bigger event in Japan because people send postcards to relatives and friends, and kids get ten of thousands yen(hundreds of dollars) for Otoshidama from adults, and lots of stuff...
I'm going to study abroad at Sophia University this summer. It's in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo. Have you been to Shinjuku? What are the coolest restaurants and stores there? Any advice for traveling in Tokyo?
Too many to even begin mentioning. Shinjuku is an area as big as most cities. I believe the sofia campus is not even at shinjuku station but a few stops away. There are plenty of recommendations on line though. Google is your friend.
dude you're awesome!!! i deff subscribed!! i always wondered what life in japan would be so thanks!!! BTW, is KFC really that expensive there coz u didnt buy one?? just curious~~~
Wikipedia says "..KFC is so prevalent in Japan that many Japanese unknowingly consider it to be a Japanese Company. On Christmas day many families (who have made reservations weeks in advance), have their traditional Christmas dinner at KFC. Colonel Sanders has become somewhat of a cult figure in Japan. Not only is there a life-sized statue of the Colonel in front of every KFC, but his memorabilia like wind-up toys and figurines can be found at many toy stores throughout Japan.
The tradition of eating KFC at Christmas dates back to the early 70s, when an expat customer at the chains Aoyama store observed that, in a land bereft of Yuletide turkey, fried chicken was the next best thing. The stores canny manager was paying attention and passed word on to the higher-ups, leading the company to launch its ludicrously successful Kurisumasu ni wa kentakkii! (Kentucky for Christmas!) campaign in 1974.
On Christmas Eve,here in the UK,ITV showed Gremlins too as well as The Corpse Bride.Maybe they got their inspiration from Japan? They called TCB a family movie... i.e. suitable for all.Jeez what a weird choice
I liked translating all the katakana on labels and signs in the videos.I'm getting a lot better with it.
an asian santa!!! that's awesome. thank you so much for your video. i would really like to go to japan. 2 more years and then i'm there. well. hopefully.
hey did anyone notice that that santas start was upside down if u can say its upside but anyway that star just dont seem right an that santa is creepy O.o
your santa impression reminds me of beavis and butthead and diehard (2) was a good christmas movie! remember that mcclane makes it happen at the end...!
hope you've had a good chicken vegetable christmas! would have liked to see you haul all that meat back home.
Perhaps you should've briefly touched on the significance (or strange "custom" rather) of the Japanese sex industry's role in the society during this time of the year. (IF you're at all familiar with it.)
For those who are not in the know, there's a symbiotic "commercial" relationship that exists between Christmas (Eve) and the adult industry in Japan. It's quite fascinating, romantic and ridiculous all at once! ; D
lol, that reindeer at the end () reminded me of Joe Camel
For a second there I thought that the video numbers (ex 5:43) were the prices of the videos (I was thinking that I knew Tokyo was expensive but paying $60 for an Anthony Hopkins movie is ridiculous but then again the lamb looked really pricey too - I think I saw it priced just over $21)
And I remember that Sandra Bullock movie ("While you were Sleeping") it actually is a Christmas themed Romantic Comedy (it wasn't that bad either)
That chicken looked delicious.

I hope you get to recharge your batteries with a stateside trip in the near-future--you look exhausted!
In the meantime, though, Merry Christmas from the USA and God bless you and yours! :D

lol, that reindeer at the end () reminded me of Joe Camel
For a second there I thought that the video numbers (ex 5:43) were the prices of the videos (I was thinking that I knew Tokyo was expensive but paying $60 for an Anthony Hopkins movie is ridiculous but then again the lamb looked really pricey too - I think I saw it priced just over $21)
And I remember that Sandra Bullock movie ("While you were Sleeping") it actually is a Christmas themed Romantic Comedy (it wasn't that bad either)

Pretty sexy Christmas! I like the soy bean character and your light display.
