Why would one wanna hit the rev limiter in almost every single gear... I've never driven a car as quick or fast as an Evo, but I don't see a point in doing it in any car.. I could be wrong, someone please correct me if I am, but I don't get it.

Yeah, I guess that makes some kind of sense, I guess I'm just thinking in terms of being more careful, but I don't know what rpm range this particular engine makes most of it's power, I guess that's a factor as well.

@LimitlessAeon619 There are mods that probably make the engine more comfortable at or near redline, but yea, it's not about being careful, it's about going fast as shit. I used to think you would shift when it hits peak horsepower, but often times that's 1 or 2 thousand below redline. Then you shift to the next gear, and you are well below the hp and torque peaks. In fact, some people shift at the rev limiter, which is usually like 500 rpm above redline.

Indeed, it's just my mindset, I can't afford an Evo or anything even close to it, I have to be careful with my cars, always had to, I can't afford to replace a bunch of parts if I happen to screw up and break something, by all means if someone can afford to fix it, drive it however they want and replace stuff, I just can't do it :P I would if I could, but I'm afraid my Tiburon would just burst into flames at any moment XD it's a 2000, so it's no quite as good as the newer ones

My first gen Odyssey is built upon the 96 Accord chassis, and they share the same engine and tranny. 4 wheel independent suspension uhhhhhh! :D You know you're a car audio geek when your stereo is worth as much, or more than, the vehicle it is in. :P

And about Evo's, ummmm..... my van is better for smoking dope in a van down by the river. Winning! And my van has 230 more cc's of displacement.

The newer ones, the GT and such, so much more fun and reliable according to reviews and a few people I know that own them, mine actually has the G4CP engine, basically a Mitsubishi 4G63, the N/A version of course, go figure :P The 4G63T wasn't a bad engine, same one that's been in a lot of the Lancers and Evos, but I have the crappy weak pansy version lol

I love how people are going on about how rev limit will destroy a car, must drive an american car. Think about it, it is put there to prevent you from going any higher, so obviously the manufacturers beloved it can handle those revs, I know my b16 Crx hits fuel cut about 2500 rpm after redline :-)

I know this was posted ages ago but what model is it and has it been modified? It just seems very quick - I make it 3.5-4 secs to 60mph and about 10secs to 100mph. Also, is the clutch slipping between 1st and 2nd? (It makes the same noise at launch but I assume you were deliberately slipping it off the line to be quicker and more sympathetic to the car. I used to do that with my GTIR and it makes FWD cars quicker off the line too.)

@98eclipsegst1 ya, thats the learning curve with awd cars, or anything that has high traction for that matter. where other cars spin out and lose traction, awd cars will stick, and test your clutch disc like nothing else. instead of over revving and spinning out, you hope your stock clutch can handle a redline awd launch :) i do think that most people would stop after seeing how 2nd gear sounded, hate smelling that clutch like that when through :(
