I'm a Michigan fan, so I barely ever have anything good to say about MSU, but mother of God was this good. When we heard about it the next day in my Spanish class, a kid was so overwhelmed that he threw up.
That is pretty awesome. Michigan state has like the biggest reglar season comeback ever and texas tech has the biggest bowl comeback ever. Two cool teams
me and my dad being season ticket holders for the wildcats since 1996 we have never seen a big comeback like that. I will never forget this game that the wildcats had won
It's funny that the mention that the victory could mean a 'momentum swing for the program.' Michigan State went on to lose every other Big Ten game that season (ouch) but the next year, fired JLS and hired Dantonio, who HAS changed the momentum of the program (we hope). So I guess Wayne was on the right track...
Back when we got Dantonio we were hoping he could turn it around. And as I am posting this we sit at 7-0 and number 7 in the nation. Thank you Dantonio. Go Spartans.
Even though I am a Maryland fan and was 3 years old when the Terps completed the then biggest comeback in D-1A history, but I knew eventually that our record would be broken someday and what Michigan State did three years ago was incredible.
I watched that game for the first quarter than turned it off. I turned it on after the game to watch highlites and saw Michigan state did win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@kempfan Exactly. What made this comeback even more amazing was that it was a bad team pulling it off. It wasn't like the Bills-Oilers where the Bills were a good team.
this is one reason college football is so great. (Yeah, i'm a diehard Spartan fan :D) but thats besides the point. the players never quit in college football. they are out there playing their hearts out for the love of the game. in the NFL, if a team was down 35, they would more than likely stop trying and just let the game end. in college, it is hard to count a team out (especially in the 3rd quarter) because they play for the love of it and not the money
this game was AMAZING. i was sitting at home, watching. down 38-3. all my fam r all Michigan fans and so they wanted to watch the UM game instead. i kept saying "MSU is gonna come back! i can feel it!" but they didnt believe me. so i had to go in and watch the game on a smaller non-HD TV. once it got to 38-24 they let me back in and we watched the rest of the comeback on the big tv. it was AMAZING and awesome
It probably was. Northwestern had a terrible year and just wanted to win a few games, while Michigan State was looking to become bowl eligible. Northwestern later went on to play a close game to a talented Michigan team, losing only 17-3, but Michigan State didn't make a bowl game.
Normally, I'd agree with you, but given the circumstances, it was close. This was a terrible Northwestern team that was taken to the woodshed by I-AA New Hampshire and were four to five touchdown underdogs, given the circumstances, 17-3 was relatively close.
I remember looking on the bottom line on ESPN and seeing 38-3 and I was like, "DANG!" Then a while later I saw 38-24 and I was thinking, " Is that the same game I just saw that was 38-3?" Then I saw that the final score was 41-38 and I couldn't believe it.

It was nice to see NU give Mizzou a good fight. Same goes for MSU against a great Georgia team.

TJ Williams could have been so good... Too bad he was a thug, he deserved to be kicked off the team.

No matter what team you have, you should be able to hold on to a 38 to 3 lead with a total of 21 minutes left in the game.
Give alot of credit to Drew Stanton for this comeback.

"only 17-3"?
they lost by two touchdowns, not really a close game.
