I am their biggest fan and as squeaky clean as they were this song is an obvious reference to bonding with someone on the road and thru circumstance(s) not being practical/able to continue a real relationsbip, as Maurice said he had "to mend this heart of mine"
@serboellinas Faces musically was one of the best LPs...this album was EWF's attempt to crossover.....people were tiring of the "message music" in a way...they went in another direction....after a series of triple plat records this one went GOLD...they were dealing w/pressure from CBS to keep making hits
Awesome and gritty Rock & Roll jam! That's Steve Lukather from Toto on the lead guitar on this one. He and Toto were one of the many artists and bands that were contemporaries of EWF in the 70's who were heavily influenced by Maurice White. Listen to Toto IV and you hear so much of the influence is scary especially on the song "Africa" and the use of the Kalimba.
@doctafonk101 - I agree totally, Toto is the bomb! And I have heard few albums as great as their first album. Such incredible talent and all in one band. Awesome!
