  • Song: Clark - Vengeance Drools

    You're welcome :D

  • very disturbing

  • The parts where Keira looks at the screen and says how the act wasn't in the script, or that she didn't agree to this, touched me I think more than other parts did.

  • what poor taste..idiots.

  • WOW

  • :< Made me sad

  • Why is everyone questioning this ad instead of donating and trying to research more on stopping any kind of violence.

  • I've been a victim of domestic abuse . . . . What was even worse is that following separation, my partner, using the courts natural bias towards Mothers, used our child to cause further misery against me. Oh . . . but I'm a Man and according to these shite videos, domestic abuse doesn't happen to men ! DOES IT !

  • @CLASSICALJAJ well i do agree that domestic violence occurs to men and i have seen some terrible documentaries on it.and its really sad 2 hear about it.

i think this video is on women has majority of the reported DV is against women, men generally dont report DV cause of status or whatever, some men do report, but in the history till date more women than men have been, victims of DV.

DV is such an bad thing ,i hope there will be an end to it!its such an aweful thing for the children to watch aswel

  • @CLASSICALJAJ Women's aid, know that DV also occurs where women are the perpetrator. They have spent over 3 decades campaigning against domestic violence in all forms. It would be very unlikely that they would brand a film made about male victims of violence as 'shite' simply because it didn't fit exactly with the work that they had been doing for so long. Many women's aid groups are now working with male victims. Check your facts out before getting in a state about how it's not fair....

  • @beckstar1972 Oh Indeed I have ! DV from females has increased 400% year on year, yet males in family courts experience a form of reverse sharia law where female abusers remain in power where kids are concerned. Indeed, my actions caused the local authority to change their website which was pro female only. When I asked for help they advised me to phone the fuc***g samaritans ! I'd love to see a DV website that is for men . . . jack sh*t exists at the moment !!! Womens aid is for women !!!

  • @CLASSICALJAJ Create one then. Stop expecting others to do it for you. All campaigns have to start with someone, campaign to stop violence against men instead of having a go at women that have done it for themselves.

  • @CLASSICALJAJ Domestic abuse does happen to Men and WOMEN'S AID who made thee 'shite' adverts actually support that idea i know this personally as i know women who work for this charity what happen to you was wrong, but Women's Aid is a Women's charity there are charies like Worst Kept secret and Mankind which will support Men.

  • men do the physical violence women do mental violence

  • well maybe you shouldn't have tongue fucked that other guy. I think my wife would physically kick my ass if I did such a thing.

  • Women's Aid is a fundamentally sexist charity which causes a huge amount of harm to male victims of domestic violence by seeking to deny their existence.

They pretend that Domestic Violence is a gender issue rather than something that happens to anyone.

In fact they hate males so much that they even expel boys from their shelters on their 13th birthday thus forcing these victims to be separated from their families for no good reason.

  • A very good video clip. Touched me deep down. Its what its like. U feel good when your out doing your own thing then u come home and your heart sinks because u know when u open the door its still there, the accusations start. You know youve done nothing wrong, but your the one feeling guilty.

  • I think that (in general) woman would lash out once or twice, while men would be more likely to continue violence. That's just in general. Also, this charity is WOMANSaid, therefore wouldn't do an advert about abuse to men. However there is a lack of charities for men that suffer domestic violence, just don't blame this charity or this ad.

  • I've seen domestic abuse firsthand, as a child and as the spouse. This depiction is so real it made my stomach react exactly the same way that it did in the midst of real life attacks. It is powerful stuff. Does it make the jackasses listen? Clearly not if some of the comments below are any indication. That they could damn any group for trying to enlighten the public and stop domestic abuse is beyond my comprehension. Thank you, WomensAid, for doing this!

  • Are you saying that CLASSICALJAJ and other men didn't see domestic violence first hand you selfish woman? what right you have, you abuser of calling them jackasses? Judging by the way you put your comment, looks like you deserved every bit of it. It's all you, isn't it? I've seen it first hand. I was abused. I don't need enlightenment. the last bit of your comment says it all. You're an ignorant. There are more that suffer in the world besides you...men, women and children!!!

  • Get a grip and read it again. And again. And again until you get it. And if yoo still don't get it, I am against ALL ABUSE, ALL THE TIME, AGAINST ANYONE. Does that clear it up for you? Would anything clear it up for you?

  • I don't need to get a grip. And what you say in your comment is crystal clear. No one is defending violence, but highlight the point that not only women are victims. So the jackasses that don't listen are the ones that make the comments as an example. That's why they have so many thumbs down. This add shows men as irrational beasts that can snap for no reason, and everybody knows that's not how it happens. And women can get help, but men are alone, so this add is sexist. Is that clear for you?

  • It just amazes me that you are so against a group trying to enlighten the general population about a very, very large group of victims of domestic abuse. It's an excellent group that is helping. No group can cover everyone. Why is this a problem for you? Why can't you be glad that it helps instead of burning it (and those of us who support it) at the stake? I will not be responding further, so enjoy whatever name-calling and accusations that make you feel good. Sorry for your angry spirit..

  • Who said I'm against any group? Just that the add is misleading and that you called male victims and people that saw the other side of things jackasses. Not all men are monsters and not all women are saints, despite of what this add shows. And I'm not angry, nor am I trying to burn anyone at the stake. If you want to break the cycle, be against violence, not men in particular. I find this add offensive towards men, and it doesn't get to the bottom of the question, being violence.

  • Violence on women, on men, on child, on animals, on Earth. Every kind of violence is horrible! :( So sad...

  • Typical shit "Right On" advert that shows that it's only females that are the victims of domestic abuse ! Womensaid can shove it !

  • in one way you ahve ti right that not only women get beat and in media it isn't shown that the women can abuse the husband but womensaid do alot to help women and children and there is alot of charities out there for men.

  • charities out there for men ? Like who ? ! The local housing authority who verified my situation admitted there was nothing for men . . . they advised me to contact the bloody samaritans ! The worst aspect of things is that my ex wife (abuser) has the UK natural courts bias towards mothers being main carer of our child. This has allowed my abusive ex wife to cause further abuse by using our child as a tool to hurt me with !

  • i'm sure on telly a while ago they spoke about men getting better treatment by charities and things like that.

I'm sorry to hear about everything that's going on I can't begin to think about how you must feel.

  • The charity "Mankind" is nothing than another version of the Samaritans "And how does that make you feel" approach. The uproar in this country as an english woman in dubai handed her kids over to her divorced husband following a custody battle . . . this happens in the UK every day to men. Nothing is ever said ! I divorced my wife - not my child ! The court process and evil cafcass are in need of urgent change and the situation needs to be balanced out. Thanks for your kind support doc !

  • This is one of the few reasons I live Keira Knightley. Rather than saying shit on magazines for shock value (Meg**cough**cough**Fox), KK is using her fame to do something useful!

  • This is a powerful advert and womens aid have done well making it. However, I think its important to mention a charity called Mankind which will help any men who are victims of domestic violence as we know they often don't speak out. Imo nobody - male or female - should have to suffer this kind of abuse.

  • Amazing video. I grew up with domestic violence, and I have had so many women friends and colleagues who've survived it too. 20+ years since it finally ended, I still struggle with the emotional and psychological effects. The UN's figures of how many women subject to DV are staggering. I've been fortunate to meet women from all over the world trying to change the situations in their countries. Bless them all!

  • Another sensational, misleading piece of fund raising garbage designed to reinforce the dumbed-down media cultures misperception that DV is exclusively a male on female problem.

This is the same type of propaganda against men that Hitler used against Jews. It isnpires hate, not solutions. Don't be sucked in by it.

Come to my channel and watch Domestic Violence- Women are Half the Problem for the truth.

  • Women's Aid is a fundemtnally sexist organstion who's main aim is to demonise men for political gain.

They seek to pretend domestic violence is a gender issue when in reality Uk crime surveys repeated show almost no difference between the number of male and female victims of serious domestic violence.

  • This really is an amazing video and i dont understand why it had to be censored. This is what it is and the reality can be so much worse. If they keep censoring things like this psa then in a way its giving people a message that if we ignore it it's just going to go away. I am truely sorry for the people that have to deal with violence.

  • DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROMO MUSIC VIDEO...if you allow him ...check it out

  • I disagree with spittlebits, The intention of the advertisement is to illustrate the impact of domestic violence; this is why the focus is always on the woman, and always at her level. The woman is never shown from above, as she would be if the film was portraying the males dominant prospective, which it was accused of.

To portray the woman's prospective, as was suggested, by focusing on the male character would be accusatory. Accusation makes people defensive, which makes them less receptive.

  • whoa! dat was kewl..

    seriously..stop domestic violence ya'll...

  • stop domestic violence for the girl

  • I disagree that this is wrong camera angles. It isn't glamourising the violence, it is putting normal people in the act of commiting the violence. Normal people understand that this is not normal, and you can see the hurt in Keiras actions. They don't want you to empathise, they want you to be disgusted at the actions of the attacker. At the end you question how could I have watched what just happend to her as if I was doing it... how can that be right? It isn't, and the ad works perfectly. IMHO

  • wtf

  • Comment removed

  • Thats a good one.

  • Me parece inconcebible que hayan censurado este anuncio. La realidad es mucho peor. Se han de endurecer las penas contra l@s maltratador@s, tanto fisic@ como psicologic@s.

  • anybody there can tell me what the Keira's husband said, i couldn't hear it very clearly....thx!

  • he said:

"how was he today? our leading man..."

"how did it feel? did it feel real?"

  • it's similar to me. i think i'd seen this scene 13 years ago.

  • Thank Farken god some1 out there had the balls to do this. Many women AND childern go thru this everyday and we just sit back and censor the problem. Its farken real ppl dont turn your back. Neighbours turned their back on a 3yr old being beaten..she died as a result...why...they were scared off being bullied by those that killed the 3yr old. So they just shut the doors and windows while the little girl was stuffed into a dryer and spun round like a rag doll cried for someone to help her.

  • Omg! First time ive seen this, shouldnt have been censored! Domestic violence is wrong.

  • I dont see why the british censors didnt agree to this advert, as its only going to make an impact if it is quite kinda grafic

  • I hate when the towel is thrown in her face. That's abuse too. Makes me sick.

  • This really allmost made me cry at the end.. It is good that she made this commercial, people should realise that some people have these problems..

  • This has always been happening. Its sad that people need to see it in real life to relize its real.

  • do you see men being killed from domestic violence?

  • I don't agree with how habs4life said it at all, but men do get killed because of domestic violence. To say that it doesn't happen if is just denial.

  • quit trying to make this a battle of the sexes. I'm pretty sure if this happened to someone close to you it wouldn't be chivalric bullshit .

  • No it doesn't, it's just a proven fact that more women are abused than men. Do men get abused- yes but since this add was brought to us by WOMEN'S AID it makes more sense for them to do it from a woman's prospective. Should I cry fowl being a woman, because I'm being protrayed as weak? Of course now. That's similar 2 keeping my mouth shut about the abuse because it'll make me look weak. Next you'll be telling me to take one for the team so that you can be a feminist ass. Read between the lines.

  • Source your facts. Women commit half the domestic violence and 2/3 of violent death and injury to children.

You might start looking at the problem from the perspective of a human being rather than your sex.

    Just a thought.

  • The precentage of women being abused to men being abused IS higher. There's a difference between a woman & a man lashing out in a violent argument. A man gets hit by a woman and his first EMOTIONAL response is anger, annoyance and self-righteousness. A woman gets hit by a man and the emoitonal response is a lot closer to fear than anything else. DV is a lot more than just the phsyical side of violence as well.

Source? My counsellor after living through years od my parents abusing each other

  • And therein lies the problem. You think your personal experience is an empirical source, and you would have the whole world revolve around it.

Another way to state your source is to say you really don't have one. Men have other first responses when attacked by women. Pain, bleeding, sometimes death. You make a mockery of the problem with your sexist approach to it. All violence is wrong, and minimizing what happens to men is even worse.

  • Not to mention the fact that you refuse to address the fact that the lions share of children injured and killed in the home are the victims of female perpetrators.

They live there, so it is also domestic violence.

    Wake up lady.

  • I didn't address that fact because the information is skewed. Generally, women spend the most time around their children. It stands to reason that the results would be stacked against them.

(i'm not saying that stay-at-home dads don't exist or single parent fathers either, just so you don't try to twist what I don't say into something else.)

  • Yes the information is skewed, until, of course, you consider that children in the homes of single fathers are FAR less at risk than those of single mothers.

Your mentality on this is what create more problems, especially for children. And that is the bane of modern feminism. The invest is in woman-as-victim at all costs. And if men, families and children are destroyed in the process, so be it. Hitler would be proud.

  • Talking to a professional isn't a proper source? Would you like me to link you to websites- oh, wait, they also rely on information from professionals who study and deal with domestic violence.

I never said violence against men wasn't wrong nor was I minimizing it! The point is this is a video for violence against WOMEN and just because it isn't for men doesn't mean it's wrong. If either of us is sexist, it's you. (Your name certainly doesn't give you any credit.)

  • Quit the ad hominem attacks if you look at his channel then you can judge him. In regards to his name you just proved that you are the sexist. You are so quick to label people who are against this feminism propaganda. Bare in mind just because a person is 'anti-feminist' he/she is not a sexist. Feminism is just an ideology like maoism, leninism etc.

  • No, talking to "A" professional is not a proper source. I was, for many years a professional in that area. And my thoughts are different than your professional. That is why we have this thing called "research" Go to my channel an view the video on domestic violence. It has real sources, from nearly 500 studies with an aggregate sampling of over 250,000 people.

  • The violence upon men (often at it's worst by other men, but also by women) is awful and (I think) constantly forced upon them as "manly". It's a message fed to boys from birth: aggressive is OK. For girls, the opposite is true. In the heat of any moment, tempers (& aggression) CAN arise in men & women.

The reality is however; that women are generally smaller, & generally the primary caretaker of children.

A man should not only be protective of his family, but aware of his power.

  • "A man gets hit by a woman and his first EMOTIONAL response is anger, annoyance and self-righteousness. A woman gets hit by a man and the emoitonal response is a lot closer to fear than anything else" This is empiricaly wrong. Studies by the Family Research Laboratory of New Hampshire (a study involving over thousands of couples, spanning over 30 years) show that women are more likely to instigate violence, AND are more likely to get physical (usually with a object). Look how you victimize!

  • Oh gosh. I was nearly in tears by the end! That, sheesh. It made me feel sick watching that guy kick Keira.

    Fantastic ad. Really, really powerful.

  • I have never heard a cinema audience go so quiet as when this was on last night. Really brings the message home.

  • This video was amazing. It almost made me cry. I can't believe there are people out there that do that to their partners and families, men and woman. Boys and girls. It's so horrible :(

  • Très bonne vidéo.

  • I really do appreciate this action!

Keira looks beautiful btw in this video!

  • I think its amazing that Keira did this. People need to be aware of abuse.

  • I recently attacked my GF and spent the weekend and jail I understand what I did was horrible and hitting women is wrong and hitting anyone is wrong unless justified..She is still with me and after spending a weekend in jail and I realized I needed help I suffer from mental issues and abuse.I enrolled in anger management and increased my therapy also..I just want to say anybody who has been a victim or an assaulter you should get help

  • Sme goes to all the men who have been in this position as well. It happens. Its just not heard of so well. I dont really like da fact dat der sorta of makin it a gender issue wen its not. Keira and the director did a good clip and I rate them. Every1 has different views. Im just confused. I wanna like the clip and everything good about it. But da angle der goin at is ok but not right.

  • I've never been in this position + god forbid that from happening. I don't get the issue of this being a 'womens' video. Get over it!!! If someone wanted to make one for men then go for. I think people are just stuck with the idea that most women are still in the 1940's n no be out der. Braps to all the women out der who got away. For all the women still in that position get help. Ppl r der 4 u, get attention. No women deserves to b treated like dat.

  • to you pepole who think this is funny fuck you i grew up watching my dad do this to my mother till i was 16 and was able to finely kick the hell out of him for doing but i am to scared to comet to a relasonship cos i fear if i get into a argument with her i will end up like him so if you think this vid is funny or a joke drop dead

  • This is very powerful. Personally, I don't think enough is being done to show the problems of domestic violence in relationships. Hopefully this will help to start document it.

  • good vid

    but very hard hitting

  • Some of you need to grow up with your comments, this is a big problem and this video is trying to show what happens behind closed doors. It's funny how people are laughing saying "she got Owned" but I bet you would get Owned to if someone twice the physical strength you are was kicking the shit out of you. Oh and they "love You". Men that beat woman are cowards, pick on someone your own size and gender then see who gets Owned.

  • Omg x(

  • right now you r the joke here

  • Comment removed

  • Wow. That was amazing. I actually jumped out of my seat when he hit her, even though I knew it was coming.

    Powerful stuff.

  • Keira looked so pretty when she got out of the car. Haha that was out of randomness.

and needless to say the ad was really confusing thanks to her and it really is quite powerful ! Well done, Joe Wright! :D (and Keira, duh)

  • Women's refuges told to help male domestic violence victims or lose their funding

Interesting article in the Telegraph, mentioning Women's Aid.

The Equality Act 2006, requires that 'public bodies must promote and take action to bring about gender equality...

Many charities have been told that they must extend their counselling and outreach services to men because of new equality laws which require local authorities to ensure that services do not discriminate on grounds of sex.

  • q palizon le mete nene

  • dis is a serious issue.........very powerful ad......keira is a real star

  • 1:08 TOM HANKS, "bitch, toy story 3 will win an oscar!!!!!!!"

  • strong ad... confusing.. but i got to understand it at the end

  • then that's ... sad.

  • This comment is to anybody who's thinks this video--or any kind of abuse to ANYONE is funny: You all need to be slit down the front with a huge sword, then have pieces of you sliced off one inch at a time, dipped into a vat of alcohol, next drawn & quartered, i.e. have every one your limbs pulled off, and finally, boiled in hot oil. HAHAHA! Now THAT would be FUNNY! LMFAO! Fuck all your comments if you don't like it--this is what ANYBODY who beats ANYONE deserves.

  • ...and, yeah, I probably should have been workin' for Dick Cheney....

  • the whole ad is supposed to be based on a script so she's acting all the time until the guy throws that to her face and that's when she said that wasn't on the script, that's the moment when it becomes real, well that's my guess at least.

at first I just wanted to see the ad because it's Kiera and she's awesome but the ad itself is very powerful.

  • Such a great ad, but without sounding dumb, can someone explain the whole thing

she goes off set, to home, then her home is an actual set?

i wondered who she was talking to when she said "please this isn't in the script" i figured there would be no script as she's at home?

  • oh God...

  • this is great !

  • thats what you think...

in america, it does happen too

  • of course!

  • Oh yes it does happen in North America. Pretty close to what happened to me. One minute I was standing. The next I was on the floor, looking up at him and I don't even know how I got down there. My ten year old was telling him to leave me alone. He went after her.

That was just one episode of my abuse.

  • i'm sorry to hear that... :(

  • He's long gone now. But someone else didn't see through him either. She married him without a prenup - he gets half of her house if they split up.

  • can ypu tell me what they are talking about ??

its too fast for me ^^

    thx :)

  • Denniboy 8, this is what is said:

KEIRA: Sweetheart? (Goes into next room, boyfriend appears) Oh, you're here. You're hurt. Here ...

BOYFRIEND: How was he today, your leading man?

KEIRA: Oh, gentle heart, please -

BOYFRIEND: How did it feel? Did it feel real?

KEIRA: It's my job. (Tea towel in face) Sorry, we didn't agree to that. That wasn't in the script.

    BOYFRIEND: Whore, you stupid -

KEIRA: Please, I didn't agree to this -

(SFX: Kick, Smash, Scream and so on)

  • thank you !

its good to read it in english again...

    man that is very hard!

  • i got chills...

  • It's heartbreaking to hear her call him 'Gentle'. :(

  • this is sooo powerful...i love keira

  • You know I never liked Keira Knightly, but after seeing this I gained so much respect for her. She was really brave to agree to do a commercial about such a horrific issue.

I just finnished watching a TV Dramma about dommestic violence and it really scares me that there are still women out there who can't get out of it.

  • holy shit that was rough i thought it would be another weak celeb endorsed money spinner but Kiera kNightley is a great actress and that looked real

  • Violence against men happens at an alarming rate. You would be suprised. Although yes, more women are abused in a relationship then men, the number of men abused by women would shock you. It just often times goes unreported, as people would laugh and not take it seriously. Strength has nothing to do with abuse, nor does size. Abuse is abuse. Don't fool yourselves in thinking this is only a female problem.

  • There are very few men's shelters out there. Most domestic violence does happen to women from their male counterparts, but there is also a VERY large number of men who are abused by their female counterpart. Strength has nothing to do with abuse. This seems to be swept under the rug for the most part, as people just think it's funny that a man is being abused by a woman...which just makes the problem worse. The comments on here only prove my point.

  • ru serious wow i never knew that

  • correct

  • Seriously, some men are coming on this site and saying they should show violence against men? Newsflash, most violence in domestic abuse is perpetrated against women. You guys are STRONGER than women, and when women are cited for domestic abuse, it's because they fought back against their abuser and that coward calls the cops on them. It's not the same thing at all.

There are men's shelters and guess what? They're EMPTY.

  • You have no idea what you are talking about. As a male who has lived through domestic violence, it makes me sad that you are so narrow minded, yet claim to have "extensive research" on the matter. Yes, male violence against women is more than vice versa, but it still exists at an alarming rate...it's just that people think it's "no big deal" and a joke. You prove my point.

  • what? why do you feel the need to say NOW about violence against men??? let's concentrate on one, and speak about it on the sites made for this. And if someone it's against or speaking more about the other subject that person "proved you point"!

  • agree!

  • Ok,That's Great.....Very good add......Everyone who abuses his wife or any other woman is a really really really big......PUSSY!!!!!I am a man and i think thats fucking horrible because your wife, chose to spend her life with you and you treat her like that!!??A real man, solves his problems by talking with others.....Very good add!!

  • its sad to think about it. brilliant add. some1 should call cut.

  • i yelled CUT!!! but it didnt helped :P

  • bahahaha xD

  • its not about men........ its about women been beaten by men ok so why make an issue about it fuck sake

  • woah.

    this add is brilliant.

  • I get my ass kicked all the time when I go home.

  • this is a great video! Keira was amazing! I hope this help to everybody !

  • This behaviour is disgusting, it doesnt matter if the abuser is male or female the abuser clearly has mental issues

People who try to justify the abusers actions or even mock this video you need help, a normal human being would not behave in such a manner, for those who ask how can a woman abuse a man? it does happen abuse isnt gender specific, all humans are capable of violence, the fact is this shouldnt happen ever, I have never been in this situation, but its bloody disgusting it happens

  • Comment removed

  • How can a woman abuse a man. I mean know hit him one time or vocal abuse, but like that in the video? How is that even possible?

  • It can happen, but I think many people are missing the point. This ad is about domestic violence towards WOMEN. It was shot for Women's Aid. That doesn't mean domestic violence towards men doesn't exist.

  • I don't know why people think this ad denies the fact that men are also victims of domestic abuse.

  • I'm sorry to say it, but womens are more abused than MEN! It's very clear, and i have that men try to bring to equality here, between them and females. It's clear how they are build like a body, and clear to womens. I don't say it's not there man abused by a women, but it's soooo less percentage. That's why they concentrate on women, than man!

  • (sorry for my english!)

  • I know! I'm just trying to understand why so many people start bitching about this ad saying things like 'Why don't they show men who get abused by women', etc, etc.

  • Damn,that is so wrong

  • ahahah ..wow.. watch on latin-lovers. it

  • Violence of any kind is wrong, whether it be against spouse, child, the elderly, neighbor or defenseless enemy.

  • I can't believe that an actress is getting flack for doing this. Kudos to Keira for doing this PSA.

  • Upsetting, but true. It get's a reaction, and attention is what this issue needs so...

  • Keira ♡ kudos , sorry is in order, this type of

violence does occur, sometimes too often

    ignored, sometimes too late,

go to womens aid org uk for further information

check your local areas for womens shelters

and donate anything acceptable, food, clothing,

    and humbleness,

if you are in this type of relationship, get out, and get assistance in protection, friends can help

if children are involved, then it is important for
