You're totally right. Madge was most often played by Emily Perry, but in this film it was Connie Hobbs (I'm not sure why, and I hope I got the names right).
At the moment, I believe it's only available on PAL format (Region 4). The dvd comes with an interesting new interview with Barry Humphries, discussing the production & release of the film.
Who cares about Madge? (Dame Edna certainly never did.) The important question here is, what happened to her hat?

Yes the madge is a different one........more animated. The t.v. show one was dull.......purposefully.
