This is from the first broadcast of the Dick Clark SATURDAY Night Show 2/58. It is two performances from the SAME live broadcast AND likely the ONLY TIME live performances[at Lewis' insistience] were ever given on the series. Much of the audience that night were Bandstand regulars bussed down from Phila in a snowstorm to ensure a proper level of pandemonium for the first show and also to provide correct levels of synchronized handclaps. Later audiences would feature regular NYC kids.
i just seen the movie of this and just had to search it still shocked that he married his 13 yr old cousin but he says he love er so im ok with dat n wow hes an amazing singer :) <3

At 1:44 according to the book "Hellfire" (or "Great Balls of Fire"), the little fire-bomb burnt Jerry Lee's eyebrows as he gets up to bow. You can see the spark bounce off his face. It was on Dick Clark's American Bandstand.
@brendancross This show was NOT on American Bandstand. This was Dick Clark's Friday Night Beachnut (Chewing gum) Show at the Little Theatre in Times Square. The Theatre was where the Marriott Hotel now stands. They had a promotion for the song Breathless. Send in 10 wrappers from the gum and get a free autograhed record of Breathless. I still have the record. This was 2 different shows. You can tell by the position of the piano.
Jerry Lee Lewis is the greatest of all time no doubt...but (565144) his most famous songs were not written by him......Whole Lotta shakin....Great Balls of Fire.....Breathless.....all written by Otis Blackwell
You are right!!!!! I was responding to someone who I hit the spam button on and called Elvis King and used the F bomb..... lots of people say KING... he was/is KILLER and or KILLA and he would have been bigger than them all had he not married his young cousin. Funny I have played piano for 40 yrs and can't play the music in last man standing and he doesn't even READ music. Did you see the Jerry Lee movie? It was very factual.. rent it.... Goodness Gracious, GREAT BALLS of FIRE!!! or FIRA
YUP that is true but he loved her and he did what he wanted...... don't know how long it lasted but years and years....... I really did not follow him for years until I saw him on IMUS now a bigger fan than was..... I love the movie Gary Busy played Jerry Lee..... and he was with his wife/cousin all the time.....
Why call him King, When Killa sounds better. Lots of legends fighting for title of King when they're is only one KILLER and that is a guaranteed fact.
Echa un vistazo a mi canal, podrás encontrar varios vídeos de Jerry que quizás te interesen, tu tienes buenos videos, aunque muchos ya habían sido posteados antes.
Maybe the best version of Great Balls of Fire, he's ever done..
