  • Maybe the best version of Great Balls of Fire, he's ever done..

  • He doesn't have a microphone... and the piano switches direction... whats up with that?

  • @TheDilligan The mic is around his neck, not sure about the change of direction, they mighta mirror imaged it

  • This man is a national treasure, worthy of Kennedy Center honors... and a joy to know and with whom to work! LOVE YOU JERRY LEE~! XOXO Ruthie

  • Jerry Lee is wicked as sin playing live in front of a crowd- wish I coulda been there, on Dick Clark...

  • This is from the first broadcast of the Dick Clark SATURDAY Night Show 2/58. It is two performances from the SAME live broadcast AND likely the ONLY TIME live performances[at Lewis' insistience] were ever given on the series. Much of the audience that night were Bandstand regulars bussed down from Phila in a snowstorm to ensure a proper level of pandemonium for the first show and also to provide correct levels of synchronized handclaps. Later audiences would feature regular NYC kids.

  • i just seen the movie of this and just had to search it still shocked that he married his 13 yr old cousin but he says he love er so im ok with dat n wow hes an amazing singer :) <3

  • He definitely deserved more recognition than he got.

  • the 50's rock is the best

  • It don't get any better than this! This is the face that launched a million punk rock acts world wide in the 70's. Just ask Sid Vicious.

  • NiceNiceNiceee ^^

  • good !!!

  • geniale!!!!!!

  • Great balls of fireeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    ITS INSANEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • I'm only in my 20s...wish I was around back then. The economy was booming and most of the best music started coming out at that time.

  • amazing videos. Pretty wild for 1958.

  • At 1:44 according to the book "Hellfire" (or "Great Balls of Fire"), the little fire-bomb burnt Jerry Lee's eyebrows as he gets up to bow. You can see the spark bounce off his face. It was on Dick Clark's American Bandstand.

  • @brendancross This show was NOT on American Bandstand. This was Dick Clark's Friday Night Beachnut (Chewing gum) Show at the Little Theatre in Times Square. The Theatre was where the Marriott Hotel now stands. They had a promotion for the song Breathless. Send in 10 wrappers from the gum and get a free autograhed record of Breathless. I still have the record. This was 2 different shows. You can tell by the position of the piano.

  • great! 5 stars! ;)

  • A star of Jerry's quality playing his heart out to 50 or so people? If I haad not seen it, I would have not believed it!!

  • Shirtless and wild of mane JLL had a presence 'The King' couldn't hold a candle to.

  • Now, Elvis couldn't do that :)

  • @mifka10 definitely NOT!

  • Jerry would have been the king of rock if he didn't marry his 13 year old cousin. bah, who gives a fuck, Jerry you are the fucking king.

  • Today, it seems insane that a great career could be ruined by such a "scandal"; but you make your choices, and get stuck with the results.

  • wow and wow and wow!

what a whole lotta raw talent all in one man! and what a man!

Jerry Lee Lewis has stood the test of time, like few other pop music artists have.

  • Better go to the clinic! LOL

  • Jerry Lee Lewis is the greatest of all time no doubt...but (565144) his most famous songs were not written by him......Whole Lotta shakin....Great Balls of Fire.....Breathless.....all written by Otis Blackwell

  • and don't forget that Otis Blackwell also wrote Dont Be Cruel , All Shook Up and Return to Sender for Elvis

  • jtwillenborg: shakin' wasn't written by blackwell

  • why thumbs down? it's true

  • Damn right! JLL is the baddest mother fucker ever

  • jtwillenborg: 'shakin'' was NOT written by Blackwell

  • bruce springsteen plays this song today in Valladolid, Spain

  • Elvis always kicked Jerry Lee right in the ass but Jerry was good to.

  • i like jerry more cuz he writes his own stuff

  • Yeah he did but I think Elvis was more important and influential but Jerry probably was a better musician.

  • agreed

  • Elvis could kiss Jerry Lee's ass. Jerry Lee didn't give a fuck about anything.

  • Vintage !!! untouchable

  • just amazing

  • oh hell yeah this is badass

    screw elvis!

Jerry lee is and was the real king of rock and roll

  • nah, carl perkins is the real king of rnr

  • hahahahahahahahaha

  • Jerry Lee is 100 percent certified bad ass.

  • king of the piano.AMAZING

  • he's got more tallent in his toenails then any other artist does in all his body.

jerry lee lewis can make a crowd go nuts and don't even move. (i saw him perform twice)

  • I couldnt agree more with you buddy he is awesome, but his ego was his ultimate downfall!

  • that's true.

  • 1958 increible!!!, que buen video

  • He got the style! I was so impressed by the movie when I was little... Rock 'n Roll!

  • You are right!!!!! I was responding to someone who I hit the spam button on and called Elvis King and used the F bomb..... lots of people say KING... he was/is KILLER and or KILLA and he would have been bigger than them all had he not married his young cousin. Funny I have played piano for 40 yrs and can't play the music in last man standing and he doesn't even READ music. Did you see the Jerry Lee movie? It was very factual.. rent it.... Goodness Gracious, GREAT BALLS of FIRE!!! or FIRA

  • yeah, jerry lee lewis rules totally, not without a founder of the music we all love and adore.

  • yes jerry lee was amazing but just because he married a cousin people feel like he is some creepy man and you shouldnt listen to him

  • YUP that is true but he loved her and he did what he wanted...... don't know how long it lasted but years and years....... I really did not follow him for years until I saw him on IMUS now a bigger fan than was..... I love the movie Gary Busy played Jerry Lee..... and he was with his wife/cousin all the time.....

  • Busy played Buddy Holly dumbass, Dennis Quaid played Jerry Lee in the movie Great Balls of Fire

  • THE REAL KING!!!!!!!!!

  • Why call him King, When Killa sounds better. Lots of legends fighting for title of King when they're is only one KILLER and that is a guaranteed fact.

  • I replied above. sorry goofed!!!!

  • Impresionante.

  • i was waving the hands like those people there throughout the video, poor guys, how can u stay sit during that
