  • you girls are FABULOUS. your kicks are so in sync with EXCELLENT height and precision. i look to you girls with inspiration for my own team. keep up the AMAZING work. (:

  • the blazettes winter coach(ibelieve?) i my teacher so we watch vids of them during class :) hahah

  • Such amazing kicks and sharpness! BY FAR the best high kick team technique wise. When they have good choreographed dances there is no stopping them...

  • I think it is clear that the judging system is nowhere near perfect-why have the same judges judge prelims and finals? To me, that sounds like once you are placed in prelims, you have little chance of moving (save for AAA, where there are typically very few points separating the top teams).

It indeed appears that teams must "win over" judges to place now, that is the trend I and others have observed over the past decade or so.

  • BLAZETTES ARE AMAZING!

  • does anyone have a further away taping of this dance? i really want to see all the amazing formations!

  • they beat maple grove and ahh i forgot who got third in like regular points but they lost in rank points... that is what i heard at least but if you are a dancer you know what that means... but it pretty much means that they had better technique and everything else then them, but a boring dance... they should of gotten second i do agree that it was kinda boring dance but these girls exicuted it sooo well but i guess no one cares about skill anymore.. it sucks

  • I was at state and I agree that Burnsville was amazing. However I think that the placement was pretty accurate. I was surprised that some dances did not place higher, but I also have never seen a state competition that was that close (and not just between the top three, but all the teams in the top six.) I mean look at Chaska, they were amazing and they came in 6th. So Burnsville placing 4th is a great accomplishment among all those top notch teams.

  • their kick technique is seriously amazing! the blazettes should have easily placed this year.

  • i completely agree! The judges must be on CRACK!!! They honestly threw the core basis of high kick/precision out the window! Im not saying that EP and MG didn't have good dances they were very creative but since when did creativity outweigh level of difficulty and skill. It has been this way for the past few years with the new themed style dances. I think the point system should outweigh the ranking system

  • i love my blazettes :) :) for sure deserved 2nd.. AT THE LOWEST!!!!

  • Notice how all rich schools beat you guys...I have always been amazed at how well you do after hearing about how little your program actually gets. Congrats ladies!

  • i was SHOCKED to see this place fourth; do the judges not care about technique and kick height anymore??

  • I agree with the other comments, this team should have been higher in the placing, at least second. Their routine was the most difficult of all the high kick teams and they executed perfectly. The second and third place teams did a lot of easy hand and arm movement that looked cool but was not that hard. Unfortunately, dance scoring will always be subjective and prone to this type of thing. Great job girls - you were first in my opinion!!!

  • Judges observe the routines and award points on a 100-point scale. Judging criteria are subdivided into four categories. The three common categories of criteria are: 1) Presentation; 2) Execution; and 3) Choreography. The fourth category is unique for each type of dance. In the High Kick division the judges look for straight backs and legs, pointed feet, uniform height and place of kicks, level hips, foot placement, and arm connections. In the Jazz category judges ... (con't below)

  • are looking for rotation timing and completion, posture, difficulty of skills, and flexibility movements.

    >> ... that's funny because it says nothing about personal opinion in the judging because at state blazettes scored HIGHER than eden prairie and maple grove the third and second place finishers. Apparently you have to win over the judges now to win?

  • you are right on, tap - I agree!!

  • yea, now it seems to come down to the judges matter of opinion, not how well you're scored... how does that work? (i mean i know how it works but how is that fair at all???). so pretty much if a team kicks like crap, but some how the judges still enjoy the dance, they can beat everyone? so lame.

i still absolutely loved mg and ep dances though. i think all the teams did an awesome job this year.

  • kicks are absolutely amazing!

  • There is no reason that this team did not place 2nd or higher. This dance was amazing, the difficulty level was extremely high, and their kicks were flawless. It's very sad to see that they ranked teams higher that can barely even kick above their waist. To me it seems like very inaccurate judging. Congratulations on a beautiful performance girls! I can't wait to see what awesome things you come up with next year!

  • Should have placed higher.
