I never think its good to bash but unfortunately because of the prevalence of MMA such exhibitions must be made to remind that karate is as legtimate striking base as muay thai or kickboxing. It is sad that some people undermine the spirit of martial arts and seek to agrandize thier ego by attaching themselves to a movement. regardless the variety of practioners from all backgrounds prove it is the fighter as much as the art. OSU!
@Shinji91 SERIOUSLY?!!!! :-O You MUST be kidding me o.O" When it's so then can you pls explain me which kicks/punches of Kyokushin karate are in K-1.I'm not a pro so i would appreciate that info a lot! ^_^ Thank you a lot in advance!! ^_^
@Seishiro1989 Haha yup. Kazuyoshi Ishii, the creator of K-1 was actually a Kyokushin Karate practitioner. I don't practice Kyokushin so I don't know the japanese names for the kicks but I've seen plenty of front kicks to the mid section, spinning back kicks to the head/liver and axe kicks used. Perfect examples of Kyokushin fighters in K-1 are Andy Hug and Semmy Schilt :D. And hey no problem man. Hope I answered your questions well enough.
i hate that every time i wanna rewatch a fight or some martial arts video there has to be COUNTLESS whining by who-knows-what heavyweight intergalactic champions no one ever heard of who impose their stupid ideas and start meaningless quarrels. Like that dwichagi guy who claims he is Master of the Universe or wtvr, denying history itself. Just let the cunt be, stop trying to explain to him that he's stupid, he wont get it anyway.
@somfplease I made my research, true he has never been CAUGTH, but has fought only in Japan were no test are needed and avoided US rings. He got from 220 pound to 255 in 2 years. Sorry but let me be sceptical about this...
@fussellmuscle IMO it puts them in a bad spot. Kyokushin isn't very ground oriented, is it? Not that a karateka couldn't/wouldn't learn, but isn't that why K-1 is there? It's not MMA, it's MA, in a way. (I say) It's a better forum from practitioners of such striking disciplines to compete. And that is why I will always love K-1. It sucks that America by at large doesn't care. I wish it were on TV in some capacity. I'd trade it for things like The Ultimate Fighter any day.
@tokokuken I agree. i'd like to see some real Ju jitsu Karate etc.., not this MMA & BJJ crap where they end up bumming each other on the floor all the time.
@TheDwichagi Dude, how arrogant can u just be. How old are you?
I just dont feel like giving u a proper answer right now by the way u express urself. Just go read the wiki about Oyama and you will understand how retarded it sounded what you just said.
@xxxPrInCoSxxx ... lol... okay... well... i'm 26 years old... and i'm a boxer... and I believe if Oyama was great ... but not for that almost killed the bulls ... 3 bulls?... lol ... i believe that bulls is just a bullshit...
Oh, and BTW, Sosai did not defeated the bulls with Karate... apart form breaking the horns... he wore the bulls down then go behind the head and twisted their neck until it broke. All bulls were from the slaughterhouse, never wild and/or healthy big ones.
@TheDwichagi You age just makes you even more arrogant. You should have grown up by now, and i dont mean physicaly but mentaly. And to be honest, your opinion doesnt really affect what is true or not. Its ur right to not believe it, that doesnt mean it didnt happen though.
@TheDwichagi first learn english you imbecile. Then stop claiming you are champion of humankind, cause newflash, gilgamesh, if you were, you wouldnt be here arguing on meaningless stuff. Third i hope you die of cancer, people like you are ruining the gene pool.
First of all. All these fighters are without any doubt Kyokushin based fighters. The black belt stands for years of training. Due to the fact that Kyokushin is not a commercial sport, fighters step in to K1 to make a living out of fighting. Second of all, Kyokushin is not only asport, its a way of living. OSU!
i did some reseach and none of these guys who are supposedly winning in K1 with kyokushin are pure kyokushin fighters. they all mainly train in kickboxing. whats the point in having kyokushin as your stand up art when you need a nother stand up art to supplement it. might as well train in sanshou, kickboxing or muay thai that work on their own.
well first of all his wikipedia page begins by calling him a brazilian kickboxer, but that might just say that because he fights in K1. so i looked into the team he trains with the "Ichigeki Plaza Team" and the trainers are mainly kickboxers and the bulk of their training is kickboxing.
@xingyimaster1987 sanshou, kickboxing and muay thai are sport versions of traditional arts. Everyone trains specifically for the ruleset they fight under. Kyokushin fighters even have to modify their training for their own tournaments as the Kyo syllabus advocates groin, head, throat strikes etc using elbows, knees, second knuckle etc. A great deal of Kyokushin techniques are not permitted in their own tournaments. Of course kyo guys refine their style for the rules aloud AS DOES EVERYONE ELSE.
This match has K1 RULES! they are punching in face! they have gloves and in kyokushin you fight without protection the only protection is for your nuts
Look at the description, this are 4 K-1 rules matches and 3 kyokushin rules matches. And in fact this fight has K-1 rules, Kyokushin fighters are the ones on strange ground... Well Feitosa and Filho have expirience here...

@TheDwichagi take the time to read this: donbas dot com/prologue dot html
they are the expiriences of a former heavy weight boxing champion with Sosai Oyama
And google "new york times oyama bull" and enter in the link "Black Belt - Jun 1971 - Google books search result.
U'll see a few letters from new york times readers regarding popular opinion about Oyamas Bull-killing.
and btw, he didn't almost do anything he killed them.

Lowe in Hawaii
Bluming in Holland
Oyama in New York
