If Lars wasn't such a weirdo with his snare sound, and if they had solos in appropriate palces, this would have been almost as good an album as Death Magnetic. Some of the songs are really good. Sweet Amber has a great groove to it.

If people would just get over their picture perfect idea of Metallica and realize that they aren't going to write and rewrite the same Thrash metal song over and over. This is not thrash. But it's still metallica and it's still good music.

What happened was that they became insanely famous and got themselves a PR guy, a media trainer, a famous producer and voilá! You got a mainstream Metallica that nowadays can't get their golden years and popularity back no matter how much they try, simply because they sold out and abandoned the fansbase they built up while playing a different kind of music.

@Fond3ll Sad but true. Nowadays they playing mostly old stuff(first 4 albums), cuz that what Metallica is and they understand it clearly. Even Death Magnetic not so good - simlpy consist pieces from different albums. For example UN3 is a variation on Memory Remains(main riff). DTNC - pieces and ideas from One, Fade. etc.
