Quite funny. It is possible to throw a straw through a potato with enough force, though. Such an amount of force is not obtainable through your arm's strength, therefore making this video inaccurate. But as far as humor, it is dandy.

The only reason why the straw went threw the potato with the wood thing was because one side of the straw was holding pressure down. You can do it with your hands, close one side of the straw with your thumb than with force it will go in and out of the potato with one strike,

The straw-through-potato thing is true, but Jeff got an important part wrong. The straw is *pushed*, not thrown. I can't remember if the end needs to be covered with your index finger, but you do need to shove it into the potato with some speed. It's not all that impressive a trick because a plastic straw is pretty sturdy. HOWEVER, when this trick first became popular, straws were made of paper and wax and much less durable. Try pushing a paper straw through a potato. Now THERE'S a trick!
