Notice how in 1:19 he lowers his left arm and moves his elbow to adjust left hand while executing a chord. That's not a good tip for beginners or anyone else.
some of the viewers do really have shit attitudes coz no matter what you do and no matter you help viewers, they can still find negative things. A DOT ON A PAPER.
Hm - to be honest, i did not learned that much. There have not been explained any technics on how to play. Instead i was told some stories about the history of the instrument and that i should not choose a cutaway-equipped model.
That is a little thin for me - even if the duration shows only 1:52 .
fuck you!!! the guy is trying.. just because you play doesnt mean you can talk like that about someone. this is a video for beginners!! and if you are so fucking awesome why are you looking at "tips on how to play classical guitar" on you tube??
i'm just expressing myself. expert village completely floods youtube with stufpid videos that don't really teach you anything useful or practical, it's annoying
If you spent time commenting on every channel that floods youtube with stupid and unnecessary videos you would be wasting a lot of time. Instead of voicing an opinion that will do nothing to change this you can be doing something productive.
first of all the guitar does NOT derives from the lute.the origins of the guitar are : egypt and greece about 2000 bc., in ancient greece there was an instrument that its name was KHITARA a sort of a 6 strings lyra. the origins of the lue are in mesopothamia about 3000 bc..
you misinform the audians. keep learning...and good luck.
Well he didn't give a single tip but I'm glad someone finally explained why classical guitar is great for claasical musics.
Alas though, expertvillage is mainly full of non-expert people that seem to make a mockery of teaching guitar techniques in a clear way. Most of which thats taught isn't really important and there are rare videos from them that acually do some good. The best thing you could do for classical guitar is to watch someone thats a proffesional and copy them thats what I think.
You don't seem to know the difference between classical guitar technique and general fingerstyle. You generalize "bass strings for bass lines, trebles for melody). This is so not true for so much music. Your vocal 'matter-of-fact tone is not appropriate when talking about classical guitar.
that's so true, expertvillage is shit, I'm tired of searching how to do something and seeing just thousands of expertvillage videos, really bad videos, expertvillage should be taken out of Utube
hmm, yes, it's always good to know some of the history and mechanics of your instrument, the best way to learn about different guitars is to simply go around, try them out, and play them, makes a good activity for the weekend to
I've watched several of these videos and although I don't always agree with the way he says certain things, one can't argue with the fact that he does it right. I would recommend that every beginner watch this set of videos.
"One could refer to the bass strings as lower notes and the trble as upper - or better "higher" notes but we are taking it too far if we label it your way and I know that many books have it your way"
your argument holds no water. The dubbing of them as upper and lower strings is a generic concept advocated by the juggernauts in the guitar business, so why not continue this tradition?
I disagree with your calling the bass strings the lower strings and the treble the upper strings. Yes according to pitch this is true but obviously according to verticality it is not. One could refer to the bass strings as lower notes and the trble as upper - or better "higher" notes but we are taking it too far if we label it your way and I know that many books have it your way - but I think the way I have suggested to be more logical.
You can't dissagree with fact. The strings are named according to pitch derivatives. Chris is most definetly right here. Also it might be a cool fact to know that the "top" of the neck/fingerboard is closer to the body, and the "bottom" is closest to the headstock, again this is because of the pitch derivatives.
Good info for those wanting to know some basic things about the classical guitar. Enjoyed.

Cutaways do not detract from the tone of a Classical Guitar. My cutaway has a better tone than my traditionally constructed instrument.
