Problem is YOU dont know ya chemistry!

Nitrogen is inert, the important part is the oxygen and that it is stored compressed or even liquid.

So when it is injected into the engine there is an cooling effect on incoming air and fuel with which it is mixed and more all of these can enter the cylinder as they are denser.

It also supplies more oxygen for combustion than normal atmospheric air providing for a better burn and all this leads to more power.
