  • Welcome to the new Obama Army. Government issue will no longer be uniforms, boots, and field gear ... but dresses, pumps, and mascara. It used to be that the objective of the U.S. Military was to win wars, but nowadays it's the advancement of political agendas. You can bet this will lead to declining recruitment, internal conflicts, more men coming home in body bags, and lost wars ... but a least the homosexuals will be happy. Isn't that the important thing?

  • I vote. I contact my representatives. I am politically vocal. And I support an immediate repeal of DADT.

Discrimination in the armed forces based on sexual orientation never should have been policy in the first place and its elimination is long overdue.

Thank you, Senator Udall. I support you.

  • Yes but why is the Senate suggesting that the military needs a year to study this when so many of the military leaders seem to be ready to drop it now? A year to study? I doubt that's necessary. As others have said, gay people have always been in the military. It's a matter of ending the sham policy of discharging them, that's all there is to it. Nothing else would change.

  • @simzonic Udall is allowing more than a year for them to figure out how best to implement the changes, but discharge and witchhunts would end immediately.

  • In my 30 years of military service, which included being a first sergeant and a squadron commander, I served proudly with many gay and lesbian service members. Their sexual orientations were utterly immaterial to their job performance. DADT was a flawed, unworkable, and thoroughly undemocratic concept from the beginning, and needs to be repealed. I heartily commend Senator Udall for his forward thinking on this important human rights issue.

  • You're absolutely right, WesDuran1.

  • Homosexuality is wrong! Any homosexual in the military would create a danger to himself and his military teammates.

  • You're a blathering idiot... please drive off a cliff somewhere... It's for the greater good of our species!!

  • @enyalid You're a bit behind the times... a few thousand years, actually. Gay people have always been in the military, and are now as well. If "wrong" were the criteria, then all the other things you call Sin would also create a danger. This is persecuting patriots who just happen to be gay.

Cudos to you, Senator, for ending the discrimination. Now end warring, and we'll be set!

  • I agree with you 100%, Gyrkin59.

  • That's simply not true, enyalid.

Thousands of gay people have served and currently serve in our armed forces and present no more danger to anyone or any mission than heterosexual service members.

Have you heard of Lt. Col Victor Fehrenbach? If not, look him up and tell me that someone with such a distinguished military career poses a threat to his colleagues or to the nation simply because he is gay.

    Educate yourself.
