  • My version of the game (MS-DOS) wouldn't allow you to go all the way back to the beginning once you got the orb. You had to win by jumping off the cliff and killing yourself. (It would go to the win screen with 100%)

  • One of my first st games, laggy as hell but mystic atmosphere still. How i was dispointed, when i discovered that the screenshot on the packaging were not in-game (missing savage world), there was a nice poster with the game. I remember having found out a bug to get invincible while just standing in front of any enemy, after pressing the 'G' key (get) they will simply miss you and walk their way...

  • this games controls really sucked.

  • Kapitan Bomba?

  • this game was so friggin' hard, i would always lose my temper with it.

  • I couldn't finish this game =/

  • As a kid with no english skills... I never knew how to play it!

  • I had to go back !!!!??!!! I wondered so many times what do i have to do after i kill the wizard! hhahahah

  • @SARACENST

    hahaha

same here. I just thought the game had no ending or that I was doing something wrong, It never crossed my mind that I had to go all the way back

  • @Kada2k6 Thanks, but is Barbarian 2! I managed to find it.

  • 3:10 LOL like a boss.

  • I remember playing this on my Atari ST when i was 10 years old...

    Brings back so many memories!

  • i used to hate games that controlled like this

  • ... An early inspiration for castlevania?

    Dare to ponder.

  • @eleriel

    castlevainia was first

  • ha ha this game had the worst control system ever

  • 04-08-59... Heh, it's been 20 years and I still remember the code for god mode.

  • @SilencerLX

    Sword of Sodan perhaps?

  • @Arcane5150 Nope! Barbarian 2

  • are you insane?how can you play that?!

  • He's blond, wears sandals, and sounds like Sylvester Stallone! How can you not like such a guy! ;)

  • not thinkin of thrill kill?

  • @MultiCrazyal Nope, it was Barbarian 2.

  • @SilencerLX I remember that one as well.... hm...

  • never got to complete this game on the atari st good to see it all now, thanks.

  • Just I don't believe it. I've spent hours and hours on this game..and actually, the game lasts 15 minutes? Ahhh the old gameplay I miss you a lot :D Today games are so easy

  • @SilencerLX

There are 3 Barbarian games - check our videos - maybe its one of them?

  • @cubex55 yeah found it lol, cheers! so many memories. It was Barbarian 2

  • The most brutal game EVER made, the ending was kinda "thats it??" looking at it now.....

  • Argghhhh why does it keep making a noise like a spectrum loading :/

  • I loved the dragon pic that the game put up while it was loading. I remember the game game with a small poster of it. I always died trying to escape because I would forget certain traps. Neat to finally see the ending nearly 30 years later...lol

  • I saved my pocket money for this (£24:95 I think) and was pretty impressed initially. Soon got bored though, but don't regret buying it - one of the first games that showed what Amiags could do.

  • the cloaked dude at 29:34 reminds me of the cloaked dude from Shaq Fu!

  • i liked it back then i was 9 or 10 i had the chance to play it like 5 times but was fun;)

  • hey the controls wernt that bad u just had to get used to them. i used the clumsey controls precisely and i was only 9 - 13 years when i played this game

  • Man, that's some old memories right there. I remember being able to beat it pretty regularly despite the terrible controls. The worst part of all was the swinging hammer at 15:35 - with the super low framerate it was kind of all a matter of luck almost. I forget what my trick was, but it was like "go up the ladder, take exactly 3 steps and hit run and he'll make it under" or something.

    Thanks for posting!

  • simply unplayable

  • My dad got me a second-hand ST when I was a kid in the very early 90s. Barbarian was one of hundreds of original boxed games that came with it. The controls were fiddly and very unresponsive. I remember the original price sticker on the box too - £39.99! Never seen the ending until now.

  • I had this game...the controls lag so bad! Keyboard control should have been at least considered!!! Odd how there is no music.

  • Neat sound and graphics for it's time. Just too bad about the awful controls and level design.

  • I too played this game a fair amount as a kid, but never got far. I thought the game controls sucked then also, and it was very frustrating. Also, thought there were some REALLY lame cheap-shot traps. And then the point of the game wasn't explained very well.......man, a lot of games sucked back then. It was like the neanderthal age of games....

  • Woah. Some serious phallic action going on around the 17-20 second mark..

  • Most horrible game controls ever.

  • Quelqu'un pourrait m'aider à télécharger ce jeu sur mon émulateur Stew ? Car je ne sais pas ou trouver la page de téléchargement. Merci.

Could someone help me download this game on my emulator Stew? Because I do not know or find the download page. Thank you.

  • Read our channel FAQ, you find links there :)

  • I really enjoyed this game as a kid. The bizarre creatures are still exciting. I especially like the invincible monster at 6:30. Thanks for posting.

  • Haha wonderful! I played this is as a kid, but I never got far.. :D

  • oh wau..it's almost like playing a super laggy rpg on the net.

Had the misfortune of picking this one up at the game store back in the day.goes without saying that i wasn't too happy with my choosing.game was a bit too challenging for lil' kids.not to mention it sucked balls!

  • Horrible game

  • I beat the wizard, but I didn't know you had to go back to the start. That's actually pretty lame. :-P

  • Same here. Every Time I got to the end of the game, I never knew you had to go back. I played this game when I was 7 years old in 89.

  • hehe man what a miracle youtube is. I can't even get my thoughts around the idea other people played this game as well. It's just crazy. When I was quite young I kept playing this game, it's a wonderful example of how, as a child, these games take on a whole life of their own. I remember being scared as hell everytime I came one screen further than the previous time. And what was up with the controls? Madness

  • Oh god, thank you, thank you, thank you. Now I can die happy after having wondered how to beat the damn wizard for over 20 years now.

  • Me too. Could never get that guy

  • @LosandaAE

I actually beat this game on my A1000 (one of the few). I can remember beating the wizard, then realizing I had to now get back to the start position. Eeek.

  • Oh man... The method of beating that wizard has eluded me for over 20 years now also. I remember this as the first game I got with my Amiga 500. Til this day, I had considered the 50% completion mark of the game a glitch in he software. I had given up hope of ever learning the truth but as you said, THANKS to the Uploader. May be a little sad that a 30+ old is writing this, but hey, I'm glad that there are others out there that share similar memories.. F-me! it was a deflection of the fireball!

  • wow, watching this, it satisfies my frustration of a 9 yr old to date 29 fuk 20 years wondering how to compleat this.

  • LOL..just what I was thinking. I hated this game as a kid! Was always beat by that dumb Tinman with the horn. Had to quit cuz the controllers SUCKED.

But i am so happy to see the end.

  • It was the very first video game I played on Atari, some 20 years ago. It was given to me by the shop where I bought the Atari ST.

The mouse control was difficult and the game quite buggy, but graphics were amazing (and still are) and the mood is great too.

    What memories!

  • I played on my dad's computer when I was a kid, and I just discovered that the cover was drawn by Roger Dean! Too bad the game controls so badly.

  • I was just playing Skrull The Barbarian thinking it was the worst game I'd ever played. I checked out a few reviews of it and they seemed to say that it was an improvement over this game. :o

They may actually be right too...

  • Me too. I shelled out £25 on this game when I was at college and couldn't get passed about 5th screen - bad mouse control system, it should have allowed joysticks. I bought Terrorpods too and that was crap.

  • Me too, it was the first amiga game i bought and played back in 1987

  • I remember this game like it was yesterday, yet 25+ years have passed since I played it for the last time...

    Shit!!.... I'm getting old!

  • NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!1

I knew about the shield to win the wizar, but i didn't kwown i have to use the BACK JUMP Command to reflect the wizard weapon!!!!!!!!!!

I find out that after 25 years!!! thanks

  • I remember this one! Man, have times changed! Okay, now lets see you play TerrorPods or Menace or Blood Money! BM kicked ass when it came to pure shoot-'em-up type games!

  • this game is aged too much, gameplay it's boring and frustrating.

Anyway it remains one of amiga and psygnosis's classics

  • I played it on XT CGA monitor sucks more than this Amiga version, but I almost reached last scene then died. One day I ran the game on AT 80-386, and the game was too fast to be played, once you start, you die in seconds.

  • This game was not one to play and enjoy, but one to show off in front of the neighbours' kids:) It's a clumsy, difficult and almost unplayable piece of crap.

  • VEH! VEH! It's because of this, I say VEH to pick up objects!

  • well done! I had this, the button lag was really bad, and hitting the button faster(hurry up!) just made you die, since you would do like, 2-3 times instead of once. Did they find this game too easy with a joystick, and changed the interface? I wonder... Too bad the sound is messed up here...the original non-cracked disk had music playing at the title screen.

  • I had this game for a 16 color Tandy. I was always jealous of the Amiga screenshots on the back of the box.

  • Me too!

  • i have arrows jeje

  • Excellent

  • I HATED that game...

  • brings back memeries being a kid and loving that!

  • Hehe. I played this game as a kid. I always made it to the wizard but never knew how to beat him.The shield... it all makes sense now.

  • A bit clumsy? Thats an understatement :D Almost impossible to play this and suffering badly from 'unexpected and unavoidable death' syndrome.

  • this game is such a pain in the ASS to control ..

    thanks for the vid

  • have you got chaos engine on longplay

cheers for the other longplay stuff

    keep up the good work

    it really is appreciated

  • Sure do, check our site for Chaos Engine 1 and 2.

  • Have you got the other one they did like this, caled "Obliterator"? 20 years ago it was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen.

  • i loved obliterator!!

  • I have that game! It's still sick:)

  • I requested they do that one. Loved that game!

  • Another video with bugged sound. Please download video from Recorded Amiga Games website if you want to watch this longplay with proper sound.

  • Honestly i think it's the game sound that is buggy..

also the controls were a PAIN you can see him doing the crazyclicking to make him stop/jump or attack.

I could neaver get this far in the game with out geting mad and quiting
