Daryl reminds me of Stevie Ray Vaughn, he gets carried away with his singing the way Stevie was with his guitar; when they're playing/singing they have no idea fantastic they are.
Inspector711, thanks pal. I listened to the songs blindly as a kid, you know. I rarely saw their videos, thanks to people like you, I will keep my ears more alert! : )
Hall sings most of the lead in their songs, but, in my opinion, John Oates carries a much better melody and has a much smoother voice. Listen to "She's Gone" and you'll see what I mean.
Also, I lose any interest in artsts that wear shades just to be cool...Hall wears them in this video....just knocked him down a notch or 2 on my list....
I guess he is hiding some signs of age, or blood shot eyes! Thanks I will be listening and still enjoying. I love them both! I so want to see them live.
I saw them live at the Omni in Atlanta in 1983....OMG they were incredible! I hope you get the chance to see them in concert!!!! The only concert I can think of that tops Hall & Oates is Billy Joel...
Billy Joel's concert was awesome...the funny part was he made fun of all of us in the upper seats, as the "fools" who got lower/back stage seats had a better view....stage rotated!
Sara Smile (released 1976) was written by Daryl for Sara Allen, his girlfriend. Janna Allen, her sister did collaborate on numerous songs but died in '93 of Leukemia long after this was released.
awesome

They also wear shades because wheather being on stage, or interviewed before the camera, they have lights glaring at them.

People don't wear shades because it's cool. They wear them to cover up that they're wasted. Good song though.
