    6. ...This is a counter-culture-infested film from the '70s. Sometimes, a person has to search around to find evidence that the status-quo-shattering upheaval they lived through actually happened. But you (yes, you, mr. man) can thank the Hippies for all kinds of things you enjoy today! Including: not still living in the 1950s.

    That's it. "I'm outta here." "It's over!"

*I have a plea: Can you post Isn't It Shocking in a higher resolution? I can't see the actors' faces.

...then check this out. There's a combination of scripted and improv performance going on, and both AA & LL are fabulous.

    3. Cast: the oldsters: Edmund O'Brien, Lloyd Nolan, Will Geer, and most especially, Ruth Gordon show what top-form actors they were. And not one of them looks like dying anytime soon.

    4. Location, location, location.

    5. Almost no "looping". That means: the sound we hear is the sound that was recorded on location, including all the echo-y room ambiance. That proves:

  • ThankYouThankYouThankYou!, Jelli on a Stick!*

This film remains my favorite made-for-TV movie from my Jung adult-hood. How do I rate thee? Let me count the ways:

    1. A great story (by Lane Slate) and a great cast (see, below), handed to a great director (John Badham) who not only knew what he had, but was willing and able to make the whole production work on a small budget.

    2. Cast: the youngsters: Alan Alda, Louise Lasser. If you ever doubted Ms. Lasser's abilities as an actress...

  • With special guest Mary Hartman

  • Thank you so much for uploading this!!!

  • Where can a person get a copy of this film?

I grew up in the town where this movie was filmed.

  • I saw this film, more than twenty years ago, and I have always wanted to see it again. I was very young at the time, but I recognised AlanAlda, his voice and his style of casualness.

  • If you find out please e mail me cuz i want to get a copy also

  • Isn't it shocking! I get it now. Cuz he uses an electro-gizmo to do in his victims. Must be a pain to schlep that device around on your murder spree.

  • FANTASTIC -- so glad you put this up. Now we just have to find "Cold Night's Death."

  • thanx for posting is this movie available on dvd anywhere?

  • Terrific cast in this tv movie. Alan Alda, Edmund O'Brien, Will Geer, Ruth Gordon, Lloyd Nolan, Louise Lasser and they all do a great job, too.

  • Hi, I was wondering where you found this movie, "Isn't it shocking" at? I have been looking all over for it but to no avail. I grew up in this town and my sister had a small part in the movie. I remember when they made it, I was in 3rd grade.

    Thanks

  • I am too wondering where to get a copy. I grew up in Mt Angel, I think I was 6, remembering them filming it. Seeing all the familiar places.
