@cherryz109 I'm not one for drops, but it depends on the size... For instance I will ride this but I won't ride the legend or the voyage when I go next Sunday :D
@davidjellis that may be a big drop for a wooden, but its not a big drop compared to the things i have rode, i consider a big drop to be at least 200ft or more.
@stangsaleens7 - there are only about 30 coasters in the World with drops over 200ft...I have ridden every one of those except for just three...and I would still class the Voyage's drop as big!
@stangsaleens7 - Tower of Terror (Dreamworld, Australia - never been to Australia), Diamondback (built since my last visit in 2008), Superman El Ultimo Escape (Six Flags Mexico - never visited that Country) - all the others with drops over 200ft I have ridden. Voyage is still my favourite wooden coaster of the 301 different woodies I have ridden.
@davidjellis im from the kings island area, and diamondback is not anthing special, Personally my favorite wooden rollercoaster is the BEAST.. And the voyage shouldnt even be considered a wooden rollercoaster, it has steel supports making it a hybrid.
@stangsaleens7 - its the tracl structure that defines the coaster, not the supports. The Coney Island Cyclone has steel supports but it's probably the most fanous wooden coaster in the world. I am envious of you living so close to parks like Kings Island and Cedar Point...my nearest decent park is about 4 hours drive away. I loved the Beast in the dark...shame about all the trim brakes. I do love the Racer though...nice ride.
@davidjellis Yeah i think ever since cedar fairs took over they have added all the trim brakes, The second hill on the beast when you turn and go down into the tunnel used to not have any brakes,
@stangsaleens7 No it should be considered a woody cause the track is wooden and it has a wooden roller coaster feel or ride to it. The roughness and the out of control feeling on the ride makes it a woody also. What shouldnt be considered a wooden coaster is El Toro at SFGADV cause of it not having any roughness or wooden roller coaster feel to it if you had a blind fold on you sware it was a steel coaster.
@jayflem57im thinking if it was all wood, including the supports it would be a different ride, and the el toro is all wood, it was just prefabricated....
I just rode this ride yesterday. It doesn't have any major drops. The Legend has bigger drops but not by much. I wouldn't recommend going on The Voyage though.
@KellyOpendack - Tough call...I personally favour the back seats for the "pulled down the drops" airtime. Raven is a short coaster but a great ride. It is best in the dark...if you get the chance to ride it at night, do so, as you can't see where you are going, which makes for a scary ride.
The first time I went to holiday world was when I was 3 and the only ride I rode was the howler and I rode it over and over again until we left. I haven't been since. Now I'm 11 and I'm going this summer with a bunch of family cuz my grandma won a raffle for having a trolley come to ur house and take u 2 holiday world. This time I'm gonna ride a bunch of stuff including this.
@Figscout - Well done on the raffle prize, have a great time...you will love it. Pass on my best wishes to Paula Werne and Pat Koch if you get introduced to them. Holiday World is a lovely place, run by some great people.
when i rode my 2nd roller coaster ride which is the Raven, when the ride goes drops down i feel like im retarded because my stomach was tickling so much that i couldnt
controll myself and i was real silent and looks like i having a seizure.
I rode the Raven two weeks ago,it was awesome! But I think it would have been nice with the smoke like it was then, there isnt any now :( and now there is a new thing on the first turn just before going up the hill.
It wasn't there when I rode it in 1999 (when this was filmed). Yes, I recall there being a building there now, but the park no longer allows filming on the coasters so I don't have a more recent clip with that building in.
When i went last summer of 09' i rode it twice once in the morning with my friend and dad once in the afternood with my dad, my friend had too much soda

Shibuya1121 8 months ago 3
@Shibuya1121 - well, the Raven has drops, but they're not huge (like the voyage) and it's a fun ride. I guess there's only one way to find out :-)
davidjellis 8 months ago
@davidjellis the voyage doesnt have a big drop either lol
stangsaleens7 6 months ago
@stangsaleens7 - The voyage has a 154 ft drop...making it the 4th biggest drop on any operating wooden coaster!
