@krautgti I have one in my fish only tank. I had it in the reef for a while but after eating the aiptasia he went after my kenya tree and xenia, lol. I might toss mine back in for a few days or something but it's going to be a last resort.
@blazin068 =D thank you! Side note, i totally replaced my crappy stock "15k" (more like 10k) odyssea metal halide with a phoenix 14k blue, looks fantastic.
Do you run any kind of reactor? If you can, make a video of your overflow and filtration system. Your tank really is awesome with all the coral. Mine has takin almost two months to fix from the crash but its looking really good I think! I'll get a vid up son. Think I need to pick your brain a bit. Great job man. You really need a 75 or bigger... I want your xenia!!!!!!!
@blazin068 I do not have any reactor or sump on this tank. Filtration consists of a red sea prizm HOB skimmer, a small HOB aqua clear filter that i modded into a refugium, i also have a water bottle that i turned into a surface skimmer on that, and a duetto 100 for a little power head and carbon. Also one koralia 500 power head.
I had one on a rock that I bought... Thought it was nice lookin! About a month later I had maybe 30 in my tank and still thought they were cool lookin!! They spread more lmao. I got 12 peppermint and took them about a month but they eat them. Now I have none!! They will also eat algae and clean corals. The LFS by me is$6.00 each. They had an over stock so I got 10 for $15. Check online for a deal. LFS are all rip off's. Your tank looks awesome tho for sure!!
@blazin068 I have thought about that, the only problem is, i have heard that its really hit and miss if they will actually do it or not, my LFS sells them for like 15-20$ and piece and they are normally really small so im scared my black cap jaw fish might eat them. A guy in the area is breeding aiptasia eating nudibranchs, I think i might try a couple of those. I had a file fish that took care of them for a while but then he started eating my kenya trees and xenia.
@KALZONE850 You might not even need to add anything, just keep an eye on your calcium and alk levels, and yes I'm sure you can, I had a frogspawn, hammer, and elegance that were doing fine under that same fixture when they were in my 55.
@KALZONE850 ehhh, I don't know about that. If you were able to put them up really close to the light then they might do ok. But with those kinds you're going to want like 4+ wpg.
@Nomimasubiru420 yeah i kinda figured. i'ma stick to softys till i can affort a better light. don't think i'ma do the mh thing tho.... tooo much heat output and my tank loves to keep in heat for some reason
@KALZONE850 That's what I was worried about in the first place, I just bought a clip on fan from walmart to blow across the top of the water and it works fine. I had the same outlook before I got this MH, never going back to t-5 for my reef if I don't have to, the MH made a HUGE difference, everything is a lot happier.
@KALZONE850 Yeah dude, i love the midas blenny. I used liquid reef, took a couple weeks to get back to normal but now i give the tank a small dose of it once a week. The light fixture is the 18" Odyssea 150w metal halide with two 14 watt actinics. The fixture and stuff is awesome for the price, the bulb just sucks, says 15k and it looks more like 10, no blue to it at all. I have a phoenix 14k blue on the way for it.
looking good man
as far as the aiptasia, erik has a file fish that should eat it
