  • \,,,/ He's a pioneer of the MPC \,,,/

  • @Givarius haha calm down 1st of all. I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to say in your comment because of how you worded your sentences. But I will say that MPCist is a term to describe what one does with an MPC in a live context. Turntablists freak turntables in a different way than typical DJs do. Same principle. Why all the hostility towards something so sound?

  • hahaha brutal

  • DiViNCi - AraabMusik - J DIlla - These Guy Push the MPC to the limit and Beyond! ~ Peace! ~ Logikbomb (DC Producer)

  • lol damn poundin on old equipment haha

  • hot damn. EXTREMELY creative and awesome. much respect.

  • Very cool, D. Love the sound.

  • MPC = DOPENESS NO DOUBT

  • Sounds like Shredding nice work.

  • that was awesome. those older mpcs have infinite better pad sensitivity than the nukai counterparts.

  • Flippin' amazing, and refreshing to see someone doing something different with their MPC. 10 out of 10 for sheer creativity alone.

  • This guy is a modern day Mozart.

  • it will be nice if you can make it work whit midi then you can record what your doing i thank i can fined a way to do this try useing native instruments guitar rig 3 midi in & out to audio interfacer i use reaper as a daw for my mpc i know u have the 8 outs on the mpc just take output 1 & 2 run it to the audio interface. now anything you do whit the pedal will record in the mpc and it will be there just the way you done it . steven easley on the beat! have a nice day

  • new mpc every week

  • MY MPC IS BROKE COLLECTING DUST,THANK GOD FOR FL STUDIO 9

  • Genius!

  • what store can i get an mpc from?

  • @ricky20000 you can get an mpc from damn near any reputable music vendor. also realize the mpc is a series of drum sampler sequencers from akai. there are also other products out there that work in a similar way such as the rolan MV 8000/8800 (which can be bough dirt cheap nowadays used) and Native instruments maschine (my personal preference nowa days) and even old units like the asr-x series that you can get off of ebay for around 200 bucks. educate your self before you spend hard earned money

  • what the hell was that sound at 2:39 when he made the air qouts

  • @ffernandez16 That was Alexandrah (who was filming me saying, "yeah"..)

  • @SolillaquistsOfSound yea i pick up on that right after i put the comment i should have erase it sorry about that, but great job on what u doing with the mpc

  • Whats up Divinci! This Dillio!

  • nice sandals.....

  • I feel bad for those pads. dope though!

  • Now thats creativity

  • I'm a 41 year old vanilla white boy and I dig the hell out of Solillaquists of Sound! You guys and Bloody Beetroots are my new favorite artists.

  • youtube search (WHAT U GONA DO BY JIDOE) video shoot in baltimore city. underground hiphop artist!!!

  • danm out all the shit ive watched today this shit sounds fuckin beast yo give u props for that

  • He looks like a crazy person when he's on stage

  • wow that really does sound like a guitar solo... SICK MAN!!!!!

  • No MPC is safe around Davinci!?!?!? keep it coming!!!

  • If u have ever seen a live performance by DiViNCi & SoS u would begin 2 understand the passion that goes in2 what he does. This right here is ill. In response 2 any1 saying that "it's all about how something sounds, not how u got there" & that "there's no merit in making something harder than necessary", c'mon now, this is art, it's all about being original, creative, & making beautiful music. I remember the 1st time SoS, VOTP, & I performed,& I heard DiViNCi kill it.He's a beast!-GRASSHEAD

  • ILL HOMIE! - -GRASSHEAD

  • thats freakin SICK btw

  • he has the fx card right?

  • ILL ! ! !

  • how does you have the reverb effects? is he using a guitar effect or he has the fx chip for the mc? if he is using the guitar effect where do you connect it to?

  • @cap0n3 EDIT* MPC

  • 1. u can get that same tone by looping virtually anything...if u chop it short enuf. 2. u can run any sound (such as that bass in the background) thru a distortion pedal and it will sound like a guitar. the "guitar effect" comes from the pedal, not the guitar. 3. if nobody knows it used to be a snare drum, then what's the difference? For me, it's all about how something sounds, not how u got there. there's no merit in making something harder than necessary. the easier the better, imo.

  • He's just doing granular synthesis via MPC. No big deal whatsoever. Still an interesting concept but really nothing worth obsessing over.

  • @puddingbrainsmusic: i don't think it's granular synthesis (but i don't realize what that is). the reason i say that is because i used to make sounds exactly like this one in my sp-1200. u chop off almost the entire sample to leave as small a fragment as allowable by the machine. then, loop that fragment. the loop repeats so fast (due to shortness of the sound), generating that tone. his vocal rendition of the process was pretty accurate, actually. it's nuthing special.

  • eh... trivial. hook a distortion pedal and a crybaby up to your asshole, or the muffler of a car, or a soccer mom, or a coffee machine, etc, and it will sound something like this.

  • He is an amazing producer. The shit on Venomous Villain still blows my mind.

  • fantastic!!

  • sweet im gona try this

  • so what.. is he like condensing like 10 snares into one noise to make that, or is he using like a small like, sliced section of a snare and basically looping that?

if anyone could explain this a little more id be very grateful.. its always nice to know how to do new things..

  • You loop a small section of the snare so you get a tone. It's the same principle behind some sampling synthesizers. Doesn't have to be a snare, i once made a very fat bass from a vinyl pop, using the same method

  • Hes looping a small slice of the snare, but he compacts the wavelength so it sounds like that really annoying sound, but with you pitch it up or down, put effects on it, you get his sounds.

  • what that fuck!!!!!!!!!!!

    this man is a genius

  • Very creative. Who would have guessed you can make a guitar sound with just a snare. Shows you that anything is possible.

  • ANOTHER GREAT SUPER PRODUCER

  • fuck yeah!

  • dipset producer (araab muzik) or divinci

  • I got close to a gig of little shortened sounds on loop... feels good when they ask you what synth u using XD

  • your poor pads...nice work

  • cuda made that sound easier with a synthesiser vst on a computer but creative use of a mpc

  • Broi thats awesome, I might try this technique sometime XD

  • Quite possibly the most creative Ive ever seen anyone get with an MPC.

    5 stars

  • Freakin' them sounds! Nice

  • That's like asking how come Tom Morello doesn't scratch on a turntable instead of his guitar?

  • Well then you have your answer to your original question.. I'm not a guitarist, I'm an MPCist.. I also have a natural drive to want to push the MPC to do things that it wasn't intended to do. I'm not trying to debate which is harder I'm just trying to take my field of focus and stretch it as far as I can and make good music in the process..

  • 2 things I'd like to know:

1)How many MPC's have you gone through? Seems your hitting the pads pretty violently.

2)The effects you talk about is it the sampleverb card?

  • @SolillaquistsOfSound cool to just find you guys talking on youtube, love when artists are down to earth like that

  • @SolillaquistsOfSound Mpcist... are your fucking retarded? Get your head out of your ass it's called "sampling" Why not try to approach knowledge as is apparent especially with fucking derps like you around. Now go fuck your self while and let knowledge rain supreme.

  • @Givarius I feel sorry for you cus you are ignorant and mad about something you shouldn't be mad about. If you have a problem with "MPCists" then don't watch the video. Or are you trying to convince Divinci to stop being an MPCist? Life is too short to hurl out negativity at something positive and it wont tarnish positivity so move along, Cletus.

  • the way in which he plays the mpc is like a piano, the notes are just set up differently (4x4 pads), a piano is an instrument that is played solely by pushing buttons (and pedals i guess, which he does also) and dont try to tell me a piano is not a real instrument

  • yeah thats a pretty cool idea!

  • W T F!

  • Great use of an mpc

  • cool!

  • i bet you he's stinky. he looks stinky. his room prolly smells like ass and corn nuts since he spends most of the day in there making music.

  • Man this is really awesome man so creative. I thought I was just gonna watch someone bang out a regular repetative drum beat. KUDOS! I almost got enough for the MPC 5k and this is givin me ideas, thanks man.

  • 5 k is a waste of moneyy!!! 25 or 2k xl are the ways to go

  • i know he isnt but it looks like he just slaps randomly

  • actually he kinda is - he has the sample mapped in the right minor key for the song so its impossible to play a wrong note. you can just tap in any order and it will work.

  • respectfully this is not true.. The notes are mapped out chromatically which can be heard as some of the notes that are hit are dissonant. The notes being hit in key aren't in order as you'll notice.

  • the mabes adlka !! dalk oour

  • @TheGlitterWhale

yeah i think he took the snare and hit the 16 levels function . pretty creative stuff, i liked the vocal impression of chopping up the snare haha, it actually helped me get what he did.

  • @allabouttheimpulse word that vocal shit was amazingly accuarte lol

  • yo i love this video

  • You went sick keep doing your thing

  • Wonder how many times he's replaced those pads

  • CAn i do this on an mpc500 instead of an mpc2000xl

  • why not?

  • sure

  • of course, only difference is in pads :)

  • CAn i do this on an mpc2000 instead of an mpc2000xl

  • why not?

  • Does he drop in on studio sessions for other artists productions?

  • yes he dose he dose the production on Doper skill by MF DOOM that shits fuckin ridiculous

  • LMAO @ 3:00

  • ROFL I completely lost it there too

  • @DreDM Hey man, even sometimes the "special" kids go places in life too.

  • @TheHevquip someone needs to make a .gif of this fast!

  • I wonder how often he needs to buy a new set of pads.....

  • Divinci is THE SHIT! THIS is real hip hop

  • did u even watch the vid? not really hip hop.. he IS the shit tho

  • You are a GENIUS!!!!!

  • He's one of few artist who know that educating newbies and oldbies is the way to bring us in new generations of music, getting better each time.

  • So Creative.

  • Yo divinci is ta fuckin truth

  • GENIUS DAWG!!!

  • poor mpc getting knocked up!

    good stuff bro

  • what peddle is that?

  • Absolutely Freakin' Amazing!!

    RESPECT!

  • fucking genius he should keep this stuff secret

  • God damn amazing

  • This guy's a beast on the mpc , i never seen any thing like this before 10/10

  • i bet this guy is the guitar hero champion

  • I feel sorry for your MPC. :D

    Not bad perfomance thought!

  • you are insannnne

  • Very cool indeed, although from a skills perspective it is a thousand miles from the ability needed to blaze on a guitar in the way it is mimicking.

  • DAmn dude! You are a pioneer!

    do that shit!!!!

    MPCing on another plateau.

  • Get this dude some Marshall Stacks for Low End Theory

    5*

  • divinci is the MAN when it comes to the MPC.. saw him do a live demo at Full Sail, was flooored. cant see how anyone could hate on this cat

  • cool stuff. excellent skills man. i think i am going to finally get a mpc to go with the other relics i got around here.

  • Thats just plain sick. Good Shit.

  • Yeah this guys sick as fuck, nice work could potentially help me alot. Oh yeah guy before me FEET? you dont like his FEET? you fuckin freak.

  • this is dope shit, fuck the haters

  • skills. fuck them closed minded haters.

  • yo i fuck wit hip hop but this shit rite here waz so sick...i loved it this waz so hott keep it up

  • So sick. That last part where you play it live is suave. Keep it up.

  • That was awesome! Keep doing what you're doing!

  • great, you really get into it on stage.

  • this is fucking sick!!!!!!!!!!badasss!!!!

  • "can a strict guitarist even come close to what this man can produce"

The guitar shaped the music industry as it is today, and continues to do so. Otherwise why would this guy be trying to recreate it's sound?

    Nirvana <3

  • innovative

  • WTF?

  • that live footage cracks me up.

very sick sound by the way

  • I respect any mutha than can make sometings from nothing into a nice sound,..guitars aint selling no more because rock has his time...this guy is a genius...eventho I dont like this gerne,..but its cool tho..

  • I think it's clever how hes done that an all, but i gotta say, doesnt really compare to a good ste vai guit solo.

  • Talk about re-inventing the wheel :S Why not go the whole hog and create an MPC orchestra to replace the philharmonic while your at it! After all, who need's proper musical instruments anyway? James Marshall Hendrick's must be turning in his grave.

  • If you live in the past you'll never succeed. It's called: different tools for different applications. Thank you.

  • The allication here seems to be a guitar solo :O . I dont live in the past, far from it however, logic tells me a guitar is the best tool for this particular aplication.

  • There is no such thing as *best* tool for any application. Just ask any post-production studio. There are things he can do with his "guitar solo" setup that a guitarist can't do.

Logic and art don't mix when logic hampers innovation.

  • Im asking myself, and i'm telling me i couldn't give a fuck what you think. Tell me this guy is a grade 8 guitarist and is "choosing" to perform his 38/s solo on a digital sampler because... erm... no, i can't think of a good reason either.

  • Because he's innovative. Your opinions reveal: you are a hack. You're not a true artist; or at least one with any vision. No real artist would put down another's particular method for achieving his work. I'd refrain from making yourself look more and more foolish by laying down your indefensible stance.

  • Pardon, i was merely expressing my right to an opinnion (which you clearly do not share) as a grade 8 guitarist. Not once did I claim to be innovative or an artist. In fact, right now im using a fork to remove bolts from my fairing despite the fact theres a perfectly good spanner which was designed for the job right here too ! It's not easy, but it sure is innovative! You think I look foolish, excellent, the opinions of a faceless keyboard warrior have significant gravitas in life :)

  • agreed..

  • probably.. but its obvious that hes not a guitarist.. but yet a creative artist. now.. can a guitarist create something as such? can a strict guitarist even come close to what this man can produce on this level of music? he is making music using his methods.. and thats all that really matters.. sit and appreciate.

  • his methods are still his methods.. he made the sounds and he used them to make a guitar solo.. he didnt say anywhere in the video that he was the first to try to create sounds using other sounds.. plus they were techno/house stars.. divinci is using a snare turned guitar to layer into hip hop beats.. he does great things with the mpc.. thats all! and micky finn? mickie finn from the 60's was more innovative... lol.. tainted love? simple beat machine.. simple synth *shrugs*

  • That seems like a fairly intelligent response dude, you should be proud!! Tainted love isn't the only Soft Cell tune in the world. You should check the rest of Mark Almond's stuff. The art of falling apart is an awesome album. And way ahead of it's time. And trust me Micky Finn was a giant at Kinetic in stoke late 80's here in the UK. Guess you had to be there!! The crazy thing is, these peeps where doing this kind of thing with vasty primative samplers than we have today.

  • , and yes, early Hip-op (or however you abbreviate it) is a great example. +1 to you

  • 'Can a strict guitarist even come close'...Yes, folks call him Buckethead

  • awesome!

  • The best...He came to Fullsail 3 months ago...SOS all the way...look em up...great music..REAL Music

  • you guys all have to admit. his face looks hilarious. its like hes fucking someone or taking a real long shit. ROFLMAO but hes good at that stuff

  • wow dopeness

  • this is crazy

  • no matter how many times I watch this, it's still fuckin' dope! Puts all these other MPC video's on youtube to shame!

  • WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT~

  • i wonder how long that MP is gonna last him

  • DoPe... nuFf saiD..

  • lol he went crazy tappin the shit out of that mpc board hell naw spaz beat

  • what the fuck? thats crazy

  • lol @ 2:15

  • nice teevas. where is yer fanny pack.

  • lol...

  • and ya'll thought only hip-hop producers/artists fucked wit the MPC

  • I would consider this hip hop. He was using a sample in a very original creative way over a drum loop.

  • lol, I guess, the genre of music he's doin is actualy closer to rock or metal, but he is incorporating a lot of hip-hop production techniques....

  • I like your take better then mine ha.

  • Solillaquists of Sound/DiViNCi is definitely Hip Hop. It may be a little hard to tell from the video and how abrasive the sound is but, if you can peep the studio version of "Berlin" then you will understand.

  • Yeah I was going to comment on that, SoS and them have mad different sounds goin on

  • I use it for Industrial/Metal. MPC is the best if you don't have one get one.

  • Real hardware works 10times nicer, just like a real women, its better then ur righthand

  • Cool, please put up a video of you doing something like that on your computer!

  • r u stupid man? with pad controllers you can make a beat faster. PLUS you need a pc for your controller.

  • Dude loooks lik Rick Rubin

  • omg he does! i guess its the beard thing.

  • that was sick

  • brilliant the process - : ) 5stars

  • that was funny, dude looks like he's spazzing!!
