  • could you send some plans

  • This is a badass chicken coop man

  • what is the size of each nest? the height, width and length please

    thanks

  • Used half inch plywood, each space is 14 inches wide and 14 inches deep. Height is 12 inches. The top is angled for 2 reasons, prevent them from nesting on top and also opens up for a little storage. No rules on the size, just wanted to make it large enough for large chicken.

  • Will post more when I finish the remodel...soon!

  • Can you show more of it, maybe the outside?

    Thnaks!

  • Thats a cool coop....

  • what is that like one of those little like tool sheds connverted

  • Just an old building on the property that has been converted into a barn.

  • Ya, I agree with planning for the future! Also floor spacing, for others who are considering this, is 4 square feet per large standard hen as a standard for floor calculations. Bantams can do with less.

  • We have 3 acres for them to free range during the day so the only time they are in the coop is night or while laying eggs.

    Thanks for the info

  • You actually only need one nest box for four hens on average. How many birds are intended to occupy this particular hen house? Nice craftsmanship and I like the hinged top plank for servicing.

  • Right now we have 9 laying hens. When a friend brought over the chickens I had no idea how many nesting areas to have and 7 fit so... rather have to many than not enough. Will probably add more hens this spring.

    Thanks for the comment!
