I strum fine for the first part, and after the "frelance solo" when those jagoffs stop waving their arms, no matter how perfect I swing that F**king wii controller, it doesn't follow my swing and either doesn't strum at all or stops halfway... I've tried about 20 times, and I got all the way to the end with one or two more strums and the controller F**ked me again.
The barkeep, his daughter and those two customers should be thankful this is Skyward sword and not Skyrim, because after the ninth failure I am more than ready and willing to brutally murder every single one of them.

Their hands are kinda like a metronome, and they tell you how fast you're supposed to go. I got perfect hundreds of times, and made a ton of money doing so. I really don't see what is so difficult about this quest. =S
@CJluvsMJ27 It was just really unclear about how to strum when it was explained in game. I thought that the strum was supposed to be more gradual and consistent, so that it was almost never stopping. That's how it sounded like it was supposed to be done, so it threw me off. I'm sure others would agree.

THANK YOU. I was able to scrape applause after a few viewings. It helps a lot to be able to listen to the melody over and over on YouTube, without having to fight your own frustration and outrage at your failure and at the bartender in between.
You have to stop on the ends. When u go across they're arms bounce before going again ago u have to stop and the go. IT IS NOT ONE FLUENT MOTION. And also on the solo rock out. Also try to learn where the sped up ones are.

looked like one of my attempts. but i havent gotten it yet. i dont like this challenge because there is no clear indication of accuracy or how well youre doing. only if you succeed or not at the end. at least when you learn songs it uses lights to show your progress and accuracy. with this challenge you just keep going until the end and hope you did well enough w/o knowing

I DID IT!!! K here's the secret I found out. This game autorecallibrates your remote's position when you point it at the screen. It can sense that the IR is pointed at the screen and it automatically recenters your remote. This is a huge pain while doing the harp because it will make you strum to the middle if you even point at the screen ONCE.
The trick is to find a way to strum WITHOUT EVER POINTING THE REMOTE AT THE SCREEN! It WILL work

@ShiningSpear I'm bad at this but not with out dedication to change. I was willing to admit the first 20 times I failed (not an exaggeration, in fact it may have been more) that I was doing it wrong and that I needed to fix how I was doing it. But I've tried almost every suggestion multiple times and I've had several other people try and it just won't work. All the other games and mechanics in this game work fine, this, this is a broken feature of the game.

Okay people heres what your gonna do, you're goin' to start the minigame with your TV in mute, and ready this video on 00:06 when the characters on your TV prepare to wave they're hands you hit play in the video and start to play, but don't look at your TV look at this video and follow the video, forget about your TV, your gonna nail it on one shot.
I finally gave in.... I took one for team Link..... Yes, after endless attempts, and a broken wii remote, also a lose connector that fits from the Motion Plus into the Wii, all it took....was doing what my pride refused to let me.
I stood up. I swung my arm back and forth like a moron, and I preyed nobody could see me through my window. After 2 weeks, I came back, tried it one last time, and I did it first try.
So fucking annoying. This game would be less than 20 hours if you didn't have to read so much useless dialogue. I hope Nintendo gets this shit right in the next one and allows you to skip scenes and actually has character voices rather than retarded grunts and noises.

Here's an excellent tip that i use to get the 50 rupees each time. The younger guy on the right will dip his hands down before swaying. After he dips his hands THAT's when you start strumming. As Slain says, you must not anticipate, but react.
I had to look it up to make sure it was even possible to do. Raging. They should freaking show us where we were wrong when it's been fucking 10 times we are redoing this stupid song. Because I couldn't get at all what exactly I was doing wrong. To put such a crappy instrument into the game (as in even when you "play" songs, you don't really. And when you "learn" one, you don't really either), they should at least not makes us suffer with it for the sake of a minigame. SO much rage.

I feel like all the time I was getting it perfectly but it just wasn't working. I figured my problem was that I was trying to predict their movements. I asked my sister who has never touched a wii more and she got adequate on her first try and then perfect. It sounded like she messed up a lot so I was genuinely shocked especially because I messed up 200+ times and got nothing beyond terrible. There's your solution people. Ask someone who has never played this game before.

I hate this minigame, I've done it like 15 times and only got it once where the shopkeeper said it was okay, and then again where he said it was good but not perfect, I was so pissed I drew a picture of myself slashing him with the master sword and uploaded it to ImageShack.
I stand by my belief in that this isn't Actually possible to accomplish. Those who've actually done it have been aided by the Goddess herself. I calibrate my wiimote over and over and over, but it just seems to do whatever the hell it wants. This is honestly one of the stupidest parts of any Zelda game. After so many failures I resorted to this, and-somehow, on my first attempt-managed to get the video playing nearly in sync with the game. Somehow managed to get the best result by ignoring my television screen and following the video hand movements.

@Malumbrus You know what's even worse? Having to read the details of any old material/insect like it was your first time grabbing it everytime you play after loading your game.
It is absolutely retarded that they make you do things like this. And the pumpkin carrying challenge. Why in god's name would you be forced to carry 5 pumpkins at a time, especially after you drop 10 or 15 the first few tries? I know it's supposed to be fun mini-games, but it makes no sense.
With behavior like that, I can only conjecture that you're somehow twisting your hand so that the Wii Remote is upside-down or really close to it at those points. The only time I've seen it exhibit that behavior is during the roller-coaster minigame, and even then, it's because I'm turning way too hard, so that the controller is upside-down.
I agree with "SuperHushPuppy"....I swing it back and forth and Link is sometimes on the left side of the harp even though my hand is all the way to the right. If I leave it at the right for a split second, Link's hand is in the middle of the harp already playing. The controls really suck for this game.

looked like one of my attempts. but i havent gotten it yet. i dont like this challenge because there is no clear indication of accuracy or how well youre doing. only if you succeed or not at the end. at least when you learn songs it uses lights to show your progress and accuracy. with this challenge you just keep going until the end and hope you did well enough w/o knowing

I DID IT!!! K here's the secret I found out. This game autorecallibrates your remote's position when you point it at the screen. It can sense that the IR is pointed at the screen and it automatically recenters your remote. This is a huge pain while doing the harp because it will make you strum to the middle if you even point at the screen ONCE.
The trick is to find a way to strum WITHOUT EVER POINTING THE REMOTE AT THE SCREEN! It WILL work

I was willing to admit the first 20 times I failed (not an exaggeration, in fact it may have been more) that I was doing it wrong and that I needed to fix how I was doing it. But I've tried almost every suggestion multiple times and I've had several other people try and it just won't work. All the other games and mechanics in this game work fine, this, this is a broken feature of the game.

god, I so hate this fucking minigame... every time I strum the harp, links hand goes back a few notes as if I was still moving my hand. The whole wii-mote controls in this game are so messed up anyway. I always need to center my cursor a dozen of times during my playthroughs.

I finally gave in.... I took one for team Link..... Yes, after endless attempts, and a broken wii remote, also a lose connector that fits from the Motion Plus into the Wii, all it took....was doing what my pride refused to let me.
I stood up. I swung my arm back and forth like a moron, and I preyed nobody could see me through my window. After 2 weeks, I came back, tried it one last time, and I did it first try.
At the cost of my pride.

Here's an excellent tip that i use to get the 50 rupees each time. The younger guy on the right will dip his hands down before swaying. After he dips his hands THAT's when you start strumming. As Slain says, you must not anticipate, but react.

I had to look it up to make sure it was even possible to do. Raging. They should freaking show us where we were wrong when it's been fucking 10 times we are redoing this stupid song. Because I couldn't get at all what exactly I was doing wrong. To put such a crappy instrument into the game (as in even when you "play" songs, you don't really. And when you "learn" one, you don't really either), they should at least not makes us suffer with it for the sake of a minigame. SO much rage.

I feel like all the time I was getting it perfectly but it just wasn't working. I figured my problem was that I was trying to predict their movements. I asked my sister who has never touched a wii more and she got adequate on her first try and then perfect. It sounded like she messed up a lot so I was genuinely shocked especially because I messed up 200+ times and got nothing beyond terrible. There's your solution people. Ask someone who has never played this game before.

I stand by my belief in that this isn't Actually possible to accomplish. Those who've actually done it have been aided by the Goddess herself. I calibrate my wiimote over and over and over, but it just seems to do whatever the hell it wants. This is honestly one of the stupidest parts of any Zelda game. I'm usually a perfectionist, but fuck this. I'm out.

Hrm, I'm a bit of a perfectionist and so I refused to give up until I managed to get the best result. After so many failures I resorted to this, and-somehow, on my first attempt-managed to get the video playing nearly in sync with the game. Somehow managed to get the best result by ignoring my television screen and following the video hand movements.

It is absolutely retarded that they make you do things like this. And the pumpkin carrying challenge. Why in god's name would you be forced to carry 5 pumpkins at a time, especially after you drop 10 or 15 the first few tries? I know it's supposed to be fun mini-games, but it makes no sense.

With behavior like that, I can only conjecture that you're somehow twisting your hand so that the Wii Remote is upside-down or really close to it at those points. The only time I've seen it exhibit that behavior is during the roller-coaster minigame, and even then, it's because I'm turning way too hard, so that the controller is upside-down.

I agree with "SuperHushPuppy"....I swing it back and forth and Link is sometimes on the left side of the harp even though my hand is all the way to the right. If I leave it at the right for a split second, Link's hand is in the middle of the harp already playing. The controls really suck for this game.
