Nancy was originally slated to star in "The Cool Ones" [Lee Hazlewood wrote the new songs featured in the film]- but for some reason, she declined her role, and Debbie Watson (with a "ghost-vocalist") filled it.
It is interesting to note that Nancy once remarked that she had lots of questions about this video-----about the T-Bird!! She said it was customized by famed L.A. car guru George Barris. Unfortunately she no longer has the car but still has the coat!
@vuotopiuscuro I think it works both ways. She benefited from her father's fame, but was also not taken completely serious because of it. In the end when her father got older and slightly less popular she was nearly forgotten. So she shouldn't complain about him. (And I think she doesn't) She was good, her father a giant.
@vuotopiuscuro you're right Lennon was her age, Massoni I had to look up. Same age too. Sure, she's the only one who knows if she's happy, but do you think she has been dealt a bad lot in general? Depends a bit on your personality if you want to be famous or not.
Are the mannequin fisherman fishing for mannequin fish? lol
No... this is a wonderful and evocative presentation...and years before anyone knew what a music video was... I also like the quiet sadness and mystery of the song.
In LA oob 1980, a girl I knew used to give Cool Ones parties. Shed taped the movie (that included this song) and cut out the commercials. Everyone got smashed or stoned, shouted the bad dialogue, sang the songs (including THIS TOWN) and did The Tantrum, etc. The part that ALWAYS but ALWAYS got the loudest hoots, shrieks and howls was Debbie Watson running down The Strip weeping and singing THIS TOWN. p.s. This girls apartment opened out onto the pool where most of us ended up.
I was expecting Austin Powers to appear at any moment , yeah baby, YEAH !

what do U think: she's a real good singer and bad 4 her to have to stroll in the giant shadow of her dads

Nancy looks like psychedelic candy in the beginning and sounds nearly as good as her Dad. The vid is an excellent 60s fashion show. I like it!

@Nancysinatrafan I was commenting on the combination of colors she's wearing. That hat, the coat, the sweater. It looks like rainbow sherbet.
