  • Computer's high.

  • Wtf with what did you record this! A Calculator?

  • @heyman5255 The TI-89 can do amazing things.... don't underestimate its potential for world domination.

  • @heyman5255

Calculators don't have cameras you twazzock.

  • @ExtremeBogom SU! Mine does!

  • Hi, I have a bit of discoloration on this new (Well, used, I got it second hand) 42" CRT I got. Now, from what I've seen online, degaussing solves the matter of discoloration in general, but for me, it's only occuring on the top right edge to the middle top edge, and the bottom right edge.

This has happened to me before on an older TV I had (Which eventually stopped working right from a seemingly different problem), but it eventually went away.

This, I'm not so sure of. Degaussing could help?

  • window vista sucks its all about xp or mac or windows 7

  • my tv has the color on the side i dont have a magnect strong like that is there anything i could do to fix it

  • Its easier to convert a flat square CRT monitor into a LCD, just by opening a little space in the wall of your room with a strong hammer. Be careful with the electrical wires and water pipes LOL!

  • loved that idea ^^

  • FAKE!

I never got ubuntu up an running... couldnt even connect to the internet via wireless network to get everything up and running... sadly I only have my lapttop now running vista... not even giving windows 7 a chance, im converting to mac.

  • If you couldn't get Ubuntu up, try Linux Mint. It's got a bit more compatibility.

Windows 7 is 100x better than Vista. Have fun being hip and stylish with your Mac though.

  • The 4gb memory limitation is a limitation associated with all 32-bit operating systems. Run 64-bit windows and you can load it up with as much memory as you can afford. There's nothing a Mac can do that a PC can't do just as well. It really is mostly a personal preference.

  • Sorry, you're incorrect there. Vista 32 can allocate 4gb. Windows 7 64 can allocate 192gb. You've bought all the junk Apple wants you to think. Sure, they have pretty high quality parts in them. MacBooks probably have less hardware failures than most other notebooks , but you pay a lot extra for that insurance. Performance wise, there's no difference. The Adobe suite runs just as well on my PC as it will on your Mac.

  • You're still incorrect. Check MSDN's chart of physical memory limitations. Vista Home Premium 64 = 16gb, Vista Ultimate = 128gb. Do your research. Whatever M$ employee you talked to probably barely spoke English.

  • Yes, I have looked it up, and it would appear you are correct. The employee actually was canadian, looked to be professional, but obviously did not know what he was talking about... I never bothered to look it up, believing I could trust an employee of microsoft for accurate information. That's another thing I hate about microsoft... and another reason for the switch... tho my computer will cost $3000+ it will be worth it.

  • @ar1stotle haha your so racist! i like it!

lol your saying that the ones that cant hardly speak english are rutards =[)

  • As per ar1stotle's reply, 32bit OS'es have the physical limitation of 3gb (Approximately - it's something like 3102mb I think... do the binary math ;) )

Like Vista, Win7 has both 32bit and 64 editions that have the ability o address 196gb or so of RAM... but you'll have to look into what editions cap it out at what levels 'cos they like to make money off people.

  • @ninjazinhiding39 Also vista got bad reviews at launch.

  • Since their change to x86 ('Intel Macs' as their wanky marketing likes to call it) the parts are essentially the same, they just have massiv mark ups. You can even run 'hacked' up versions of OS X on a standard x86 computer from your average computer store... but Apple choose not to release a 'stand alone' release like how Windows is released.

  • @ninjazinhiding39

No PC can harness the power I'm using...

BWAHAHAHAHAHA. try running 2 crossfire'd HD 5970's with an i7 processor and then we'll talk about power. That rig can run photoshop like it's MS paint. and since when does RAM = processing power?

  • @1wdc Ram Holds intruction to be carried out by the cpu in its memory banks until the cpu can run a mathmatical forumla to execute the instruction. The speed of the memory determines how fast the memory can recieve instruction and send it to the cpu. The amount of memory determines how much instruction can be held at any givin time. The more memory and the faster the memory, the faster the CPU will crunch numbers and carry out instruction. Thank you for your continued interest in PC 101,

  • i use both windows and mac they're awesome

  • I was wondering if degaussing a TV will completely fix the problems caused by a magnet, speakers or vaccum being too close to a TV? I am going to have to fix a Panasonic CRTV. Also would having the speakers 6 to 12 inches above or away from a TV or monitor be safe?

  • I mean, this was a pretty crude method. It wasn't perfect, but my screen wasn't purple anymore, there was just a little discoloration in the corner afterwards (but your eyes can ignore it). And I would think 6 inches would be far enough for speakers, unless they're huge. Hey, if you start seeing distortion, move them farther away.

  • Thank you for the advice. I have quit using that TV, and got an HDTV. I did move the speakers about a foot away from the TV. I don't have anything to worry about now. Since HDTV's do not run on an magnetic field.

  • On newer tube-TVs, just turning the TV off-and-on can degauss them.

    Awesome!

  • Not if the degaussing circuit is damaged from a lightning strike.

  • i thought the drill was to create an oscillating magnetic field, which is key. is that wrong?

  • kind of, it warps the shape of the field

  • ubuntu!!!!!!!!!

  • Does it matter what size of magnet you use for a 32'' Standard TV?

  • there is no need for a drill and stuff. all you need is a strong magnet. you could just try dragging the magnet from the front where it is discolored toward the back in the middle then pull it away from the tv a few times. fixed a tv doing that.

  • yea the drill is way stupid

  • omg i love soing that. u should see one of the computers in the science lab in my school. ^_^

  • hey guy's would this work with a TFT monitor!? i messed my screen up with a magnet and now it keeps switching it self on and off every 2 seconds, and my monitor doesnt have a built in degauss. any ideas ? ty

  • No TFT monitors do not use beams of electrons with magnets to difuse the beam. It sounds as if you damaged some other part of the TV. It could be a small intergrated circuit that was sensetive to magnetic fields. (the small black millipeed looking things)

  • ok thanx 4 help, i got a new 1 couldnt figure out what was wrong with it...

  • you have to punch it with your fist as hard/fast you can, then trow it out of the window, that should work :)

  • would this work with a tv?

  • yes

  • it works better with tv

  • If that's an ac powered drill, than almost certainly the motor itself would be enough. Also a find fans put out quite an ac field and they work well.

  • You could have done it with an electromagnet.

  • But I didn't have an electromagnet... I had a power drill and 2 microwave magnets ;)

  • Oh come on, you can't give a video 0 stars just because you don't understand what's going on. Most CRT monitors have a built in degaussing function, which resets the magnetic field around them so that the colors display properly. If that magnetic field is altered, that's when there are purple/green splotches on the screen. My house got struck by lightning, which fried the degaussing circuit, so I had to manually degauss it with this method.

  • now your video makes since to me!

I do that with TV when it had a red spot when its transported from place to place, I fix it with a magnatic.

    now I can give you 4 stars! : )

  • Ubuntu xD

  • LOL, not good for ur computer xD

  • If you are talking about it getting too close to the hard drive, you are wrong. You actually have to get it pretty close. Even if it's a very strong magnet.
