Ive owned Mathews bows in the past and have shot the new ones, and Hoyt is a better bow hands down. Im shootin the Hoyt Maxxis 31 and I love it. You could not give me a Mathews
What i dislike about Mathew,is they have TV shows giving a bow set up for 1000-1500 dollars away. That is fine, but it is always to CEO's, Business owners. These people no doubt own 5 or 6 of these bows already. Well we all know they can afford to own this many if they choose to. Mathews and their shooters seem to be big snobs. Really the only one's I've seen that I like is Lee and Tiff.
@studogg99 Im 33 years of age and have (2) Z7 Extreme Tacticals decked out with QAD rest, Trijicon Accupins, Mathews carbon fiber quiver and stabilizers and one is themed yellow and the other white. They shoot 288fps at 65lb 27" draw. So its not a over 40 thing. And i switched from Hoyt, Mathews bows are by far smoother and quiter than my Hoyts were. The only Hoyt id even consider purchasing would be the Carbon Element and im actually thinking of getting one.

I believe you get what you pay for , I bowhunt ( only) for deer , I could shoot any bow out there , I shot pse , after shooting my dxt ,9 deer last year, traded in and got the z7 last year, 5 deer so far this year, I am getting the z7 extreme , if you want the BEST it's Mathews , forgiving, smooth , and fast enough !
@studdgage I am a proud owner of a Mathews z7 and I'll say this: Mathews,Hoyt and Bowtech are the top dogs out there, PERIOD! The top bows from these three guys are all pretty much the same in reliability and quality. Others such as PSE claim to be the "best" but it's not even close. I would like to ask the guys at PSE, "Best" at what? OK...I'll answer that... PSE is the "best" at going back to the factory for repairs. Buy from the top three companies and you did just fine. I love my Z7!!!!
both my hoyt buddys shot my new z7 yesterday and are both buying one. We have shot hoyt for years and shot many many deer,fallow,pigs,chipmunks,cats and so on with them. Its what feels best for you as a shooter/hunter they are both great makes
Everyone talking about speed shut up.My whitetail hunter i still gets it done when it comes to bucks boar and by no stretch of the imagination a speed demon.Just shoot what you like i own a bear attack i love it but still get the old whitetail hunter out every season just to see what she can do and deer still fall to it.
Yea my mathews DXT shoots 298fps with 350grain arrow and 100grain field point 70lbs at 29in draw still the best bow on the market im sorry but you wasted your money on the Z7
@4mattson How is someone "waisting money" on a Z7? Man, do you have "Last year's bow" envy or what?. The Z7 is just about as light, just as smooth drawing, a good bit faster, has a more rigid riser, and balances better than a DXT. Ya, sounds like waisted money to me. Dude, your DXT is a GREAT BOW but don't be so quick to claim superiority. Enjoy your bow and don't worry about what is "better/newer". The DXT will be killing deer for years to come. @4mattson I hear Ya. If I already had a DXT, I would not be looking for a new bow either. That DXT is one bad dude. IMO the Z7 is essentially a DXT with a few enhancements. Just enough changes to make it a "different" bow. Your DXT has nothing to appoligize for. Like you, I am not going to be getting another bow any time soon because I'm so happy with what I've got already. My Z7 has been good company this season and will continue to be for a while. @4mattson You will love the Z7 but do not expect a great deal of difference between it and your DXT. Like I said, IMO the Z7 is a DXT with a handful of enhancements. Not much difference at all in actual handling. You probably had the best idea already by just holding on to your DXT and spend the $ on other equipment. Like I said before, If I already had a DXT, I would look no further. Good luck which ever way you go. I bit big time. I shot both (Z7 & DXT) and got the "newer" one. Both are GREAT!
@4mattson I've got an idea for ya. You can keep the DXT and buy your wife a Mathews Passion (made for women) and still save a few bucks for other stuff because the Passion sells for a good bit less than a Z7. You'd save a ton just buying a Passion for the wife compared to buying a new Z7 (for you) and outfitting "woman" limbs and cam modules on the DXT (for her). It's your money but I just thought I'd pass on my "brain storm". So many great bows, so little time and money. I like to save both.

how many times have you heard of a mathews blow up i have seen them blow up the each hoyt product goes through 1500 drie fires and i have never heard of a hoyt blowing up
@getHOYT I'm shooting my 4th Mathews (Reezen) in the last 10 years, and I bow hunt only on private property year around. I've shot thousands of arrows through my Mathews, and never had a "blow up". Sounds like somebody convinced you to purchase an inferior product, and you're trying to justify it?
i have owned both bows this year. got the Z7 in march within days the serving unraveled. it happened 3 times in total !! had pro shop put new string on each time. the last time i even put some super glue on the serving that kept unraveling.didnt help! an then both string surppressers brackets broke. sold that piece of crap! bought the maxxis 31 and have had 0 problems! shoots great and just as quite, as 4 speed the Z7 was averging 286 fps. maxxis 284 fps with 70lb,at 28 inch draw buy the maxxis

Both of these a amazing bows. I shoot a DXT and love it. I like both of these and have shot both. I have no complaints with either. Just close your eyes and pick one you can not go wrong with either. Thanks for the video guys
i have to say that the z7 has got to be the better bow because i goes beond parrell limbs not even drawn and it is so much smoother and a better quality

@Hman731 Is that right your Mathews Z7 is rated like 7 - 8 IBO. more then the Hoyt CRX 32. The same that did this video. Did the same video on these to bows. The Z7 shot 288, the CRX 32 shot 288.9. That should tell you something.
he's not drawing that bow properly, you'r supposed to use your back muscles and he's using his ars, he could injusre himself drawing a bow that way, and will tire much faster.
SANCTUSREAL4LIFE okay yeah the z7 is a very smooth drawing bow but i have been pulling solo cams my hole life and i just got my buddy which before this has never shot a bow and he says the hoyt is the smoothest drawing bow so just so you know that is your pref on how the bow is now i just shot both side by side and couldnt tell the dif between the two so both great bows pick one and thats it
I have a Z7 and let me just say that there is not a smoother draw on the face of the earth if you haven't gotten to draw one back you have to get to the shop and try it is an amazing bow
I don't think you can compare these bows...... Diffrent brace hights.. Single bs solo cams.... Some don't like mathews becuse if your dl changes it cost 100$ to change it..... Some say hoyts are slow and ugly...... To each his( or her) own
@thqama my buddy bought a used bow on ebay and had to change draw length and the module cost him $25 ! Besides saving the $150 buying a used bow i would recommend getting your draw length measured at a pro shop and then buy the right size draw when you find one !! Its common sense to buy the right draw then buy the wrong length and then fix it ! Plus your draw length shouldn't ever change , if you have a 29 in draw , its a 29 in draw period, no matter what bow!
I have shot all the new Hoyts and Mathews and i have to say that Mathews is better with the Z7 but Hoyt has a pretty wicked bow out now with the Carbon Matrix but still Mathews is #1 in Archery ; )
@dryflyelk haha yeah man i had a destroyer 340 before I got a maxxis and we were gettin like 329fps with a 350 grain arrow at 29/70. Only bow i've heard come close to 370 was the PSE Omen, and that was stated by a rep at the AT show.

how do you get a 20 fps difference in the same bow? i would never by a bow with quality control problems like that. anyways since i know you dont know what you are talking about the destroyer is a nice bow too if you are more of a speed guy. that bow is sensitive to any weight on the string tho. double the fps you lose with any other bow with weight on the string.
the truth is you cant go wrong with either of these bows, its all in whatever the shooter is more comfortable with. I personally shoot a hoyt trykon so when i shot these bows i was leaning towards the hoyt but bottom line is cant go wrong with either

i wouldnt say harder to draw they both are very smooth. the only difference in their draws is when you drop into the valley. the maxxis is smoother in that sense. thats inherent in a cam and a 1/2 compared to a single cam. but if you know how to draw a bow dropping into a valley should be smooth no matter what bow. i like both these bows. i own the z7 and will be owning the maxxis this year for sure no ifs an or buts

Neither is far superior to the other. It all comes down to personal preference and I prefer Mathews because of how it balances and shoots for "ME". FYI Mathews limbs are made with industry leading technology and are of the best quality available. There are no bad choices with these two companies. Both Top flight.
Wrong. Lighter? Not hardly. Actually much heavier. Weigh them - Z7 is about 6 ounces heavier than stated. Faster? Not really. About the same. Shoot both through a chrono at equal draw lengths. Better quality? Nah. Both are top notch. Both are great bows. Shoot whichever floats your boat.
hoyt and mathews both good quality. i have shotfor both bow companys. I have won torn with both, but if I was put on a island with one bow it would be my hoyt maxxis 31! deff the best bow!

What i dislike about Mathew,is they have TV shows giving a bow set up for 1000-1500 dollars away. That is fine, but it is always to CEO's, Business owners. These people no doubt own 5 or 6 of these bows already. Well we all know they can afford to own this many if they choose to. Mathews and their shooters seem to be big snobs. Really the only one's I've seen that I like is Lee and Tiff.

@studogg99 Im 33 years of age and have (2) Z7 Extreme Tacticals decked out with QAD rest, Trijicon Accupins, Mathews carbon fiber quiver and stabilizers and one is themed yellow and the other white. They shoot 288fps at 65lb 27" draw. So its not a over 40 thing. And i switched from Hoyt, Mathews bows are by far smoother and quiter than my Hoyts were. The only Hoyt id even consider purchasing would be the Carbon Element and im actually thinking of getting one.

@studdgage I am a proud owner of a Mathews z7 and I'll say this: Mathews,Hoyt and Bowtech are the top dogs out there, PERIOD! The top bows from these three guys are all pretty much the same in reliability and quality. Others such as PSE claim to be the "best" but it's not even close. I would like to ask the guys at PSE, "Best" at what? OK...I'll answer that... PSE is the "best" at going back to the factory for repairs. Buy from the top three companies and you did just fine. I love my Z7!!!!

The Z7 is just about as light, just as smooth drawing, a good bit faster, has a more rigid riser, and balances better than a DXT. Ya, sounds like waisted money to me. Dude, your DXT is a GREAT BOW but don't be so quick to claim superiority. Enjoy your bow and don't worry about what is "better/newer". The DXT will be killing deer for years to come. @4mattson I hear Ya. If I already had a DXT, I would not be looking for a new bow either. That DXT is one bad dude. IMO the Z7 is essentially a DXT with a few enhancements. Just enough changes to make it a "different" bow. Your DXT has nothing to appoligize for. Like you, I am not going to be getting another bow any time soon because I'm so happy with what I've got already. My Z7 has been good company this season and will continue to be for a while. @4mattson You will love the Z7 but do not expect a great deal of difference between it and your DXT. Like I said, IMO the Z7 is a DXT with a handful of enhancements. Not much difference at all in actual handling. You probably had the best idea already by just holding on to your DXT and spend the $ on other equipment. Like I said before, If I already had a DXT, I would look no further. Good luck which ever way you go. I bit big time. I shot both (Z7 & DXT) and got the "newer" one. Both are GREAT!

You can keep the DXT and buy your wife a Mathews Passion (made for women) and still save a few bucks for other stuff because the Passion sells for a good bit less than a Z7. You'd save a ton just buying a Passion for the wife compared to buying a new Z7 (for you) and outfitting "woman" limbs and cam modules on the DXT (for her). It's your money but I just thought I'd pass on my "brain storm". So many great bows, so little time and money. I like to save both.

i have owned both bows this year. got the Z7 in march within days the serving unraveled. it happened 3 times in total !! had pro shop put new string on each time. the last time i even put some super glue on the serving that kept unraveling.didnt help! an then both string surppressers brackets broke. sold that piece of crap! bought the maxxis 31 and have had 0 problems! shoots great and just as quite, as 4 speed the Z7 was averging 286 fps. maxxis 284 fps with 70lb,at 28 inch draw buy the maxxis

Both of these a amazing bows. I shoot a DXT and love it. I like both of these and have shot both. I have no complaints with either. Just close your eyes and pick one you can not go wrong with either. Thanks for the video guys

SANCTUSREAL4LIFE okay yeah the z7 is a very smooth drawing bow but i have been pulling solo cams my hole life and i just got my buddy which before this has never shot a bow and he says the hoyt is the smoothest drawing bow so just so you know that is your pref on how the bow is now i just shot both side by side and couldnt tell the dif between the two so both great bows pick one and thats it

@thqama my buddy bought a used bow on ebay and had to change draw length and the module cost him $25 ! Besides saving the $150 buying a used bow i would recommend getting your draw length measured at a pro shop and then buy the right size draw when you find one !! Its common sense to buy the right draw then buy the wrong length and then fix it ! Plus your draw length shouldn't ever change , if you have a 29 in draw , its a 29 in draw period, no matter what bow!

I have shot all the new Hoyts and Mathews and i have to say that Mathews is better with the Z7 but Hoyt has a pretty wicked bow out now with the Carbon Matrix but still Mathews is #1 in Archery ; )

how do you get a 20 fps difference in the same bow? i would never by a bow with quality control problems like that. anyways since i know you dont know what you are talking about the destroyer is a nice bow too if you are more of a speed guy. that bow is sensitive to any weight on the string tho. double the fps you lose with any other bow with weight on the string.

THANK YOU STIHLPONY. I own a Reezen and have shot the Hoyt. And both are amazing bows. All this shit about hand shock and weight. Are we sissies? You get 1 shot and at that moment I promise you I've never said "ouch. that hand shock hurt" Or thought to myself "I can't take this shot because my arms are so tired because this bow weighs 2 ounces more than the other" Shoot what you like. i wouldnt say harder to draw they both are very smooth. the only difference in their draws is when you drop into the valley. the maxxis is smoother in that sense. thats inherent in a cam and a 1/2 compared to a single cam. but if you know how to draw a bow dropping into a valley should be smooth no matter what bow. i like both these bows. i own the z7 and will be owning the maxxis this year for sure no ifs an or buts

Neither is far superior to the other. It all comes down to personal preference and I prefer Mathews because of how it balances and shoots for "ME". FYI Mathews limbs are made with industry leading technology and are of the best quality available. There are no bad choices with these two companies. Both Top flight.

Wrong. Lighter? Not hardly. Actually much heavier. Weigh them - Z7 is about 6 ounces heavier than stated. Faster? Not really. About the same. Shoot both through a chrono at equal draw lengths. Better quality? Nah. Both are top notch. Both are great bows. Shoot whichever floats your boat.
