  • Great balance!

  • Ok, what I don't understand is their fighting stance (Fighting Horse?). They point their toes to two different angles, leaving their groin vulnerable to attack. I'm a dude, and that's the last place Id want to get hit *wince*. Where I come from, we have our knees bent, toes at a 45 degree angle, and a toe-heel line, thus protecting the "Jewels".

  • @SM4UGSL4Y3R dude he not tryign to defend yourself, he teaching you how to perfect technique and better your kicking speed and balance..

  • isometrics is not need for martial arts, something 90% of martial artists dont use which is needed is plyometrics training

  • @lazur1 true. Isometrics are static contractions. They build strength at fixed positions.. Bruce Lee used isometrics.

  • Very Good Balance.. ;)

  • first when I clicked on this vid, I tought it was another expert village old guy who's flexibility isnt even high

    but daaamn this looks good

  • Precision form and great instruction.

  • theres a name for this, shadowboxing

  • That mans demonstration partner is sooo still like a statue, it's so funny lol!

  • "Isometric" means "Same Length": The muscle doesn't shorten or lengthen during the contraction, thus the joints / limbs don't change their angles: There's NO motion, not slow motion. These training ideas are all great, but they're not isometric. If the trainee keeps his muscles tense while doing these exercises, it's called 'Dynamic Tension".

  • the other guy looks like a manikin

  • Tops - Thanks

  • I really like the way you thoroughly explain and demonstrate a technique. Youre a GREAT Instructor/Teacher! I'm looking forward to seeing your stretching video...

  • the groin comment is most useful for an old big guy like my dad i will pass it on

  • I think this is a good exercise, but I dont know why people call it isometrics, It not done against immovable object so its not clased as isometrics. you best getting a chain, lay on the floor, rap the chain around your legs and try to pull htem apart for 12 seconds. this gives you serious strengh,

  • i agree with what you said as far as the chain being a better exercise, but its still classified as isometrics, its a hold under pressure

  • @unwawbl I think it's just because it's SO slow that the muscle is essentially not moving. I suppose "quasi-isometric" is more accurate though yeah.

  • he has some amazing balance. i can barely stand on on leg doing nothing

  • It also helps to chew your toe nails.

  • did he just do a spin kick at low speed? I have some serious training to do!

  • try the horse stances i thinks a lot easier for kicks

  • Great job - Its rly important indeed for all martial artists to gain the maximum from each hand or leg. No matter how simple is the move - thers always a way to improve no matter the lvl.

  • amazing!

  • i think the main point of this video is the balance aspects and it is really it is aimed at beginner students not advanced.

  • I disagree.

  • Good techniques, bro.

  • You're sexy for uploading these.

  • I'm 4th Dan TKD and his stances are poor. A blind man could see it in a second. Side kick cocking needed a shuffle as well (because of poor stance), which means he'd only score on lower belts.

  • ModusPTollens

I have looked at your site for videos and I see NOTHING post a video of yourself for others to judge. I am new in the arts but have noticed every video on You Tube posted seems to have a person like yourself with allot to say but CAN"T back it up POST POST POST

  • If you cannot see the flaws in this technique, you will not be able to tell the difference between correct and flawed technique.

  • The expected response. The above poster clearly stated that he/she is new to the martial arts. As a "4th Dan", you should be happy to share your knowledge and experience with newer students. So post away and show us how it's "supposed" to be done, or at least describe the flaws.

  • He is standing with his feet much too far apart in the attack plane. This will telegraph a rear foot strike and make a front foot attack much weaker. You will fight as you train. Any knowledgeable opponent will spot this at once, ignore his front foot and simply wait for a rear foot attack.

There is so much wrong with this technique. It will strength the kick, for sure. But it will be a nice, strong, and ineffective kick.

  • It is next to impossible to score with a rear foot side kick, as shown, unless sparring beginners. I realize he is simply showing technique but this technique will only score as a counter and only after sidestepping an attacking opponent. Why not teach it this way?

I don't mean to be insulting but teaching kicks w/o regard for context of deployment does a disservice to the student.

  • What you said makes sense, but this isn't exactly incorrect form. You described the overall ineffectiveness of the kick itself, but not why his kick was executed incorrectly. Perhaps the kick is only effective in few contexts, but he still did this ineffective kick correctly. Besides I think this vid was for leg strength training and nothing more :]

  • i can see everything that's incorrect technically here but you must admit that's damn good leg strength.

as for a side kick from the rear foot, my instructor (V Dan) says its very much like if a train was about to hit you, you see it coming but you'd freeze. easy, far too easy to counter, but you're likely to either just backpedal or be hit.

however i don't find it very difficult to score with it, you can clear great distance (with a slight jump) and if blocking isn't timed perfectly, it lands

  • dude stop being an internet quater back and coming on here critizeing everything it just really makes you look like a giant ass not someone who everyone wants to listen to

  • Great video. Was very helpful.

    Thank you, Sir.

  • He has excellent joint and muscle control, I'll give him that. However, most people don't even have the hip flexibility, nor the glute control to even hold their leg outwards for a brief time.

  • thanks for this! how many times per side should i do a technique?

  • Thank you very much!!Very, very impressive!

  • Great info do you have videos for sale ?

  • what if my groin muscle is really big ;)

  • Haha! Nice!

  • HAHAHAHAHA!!! That's a classic Cartman response!! Freakin SWEEEEEEEEEEEET!

  • that was really great. I'm glad I found this.

  • Doesn he say, isometric means slow motion?? cos it doesn not mean that.

  • :D I really needed this. I'm green belt and at my grading at end of june i have to do destruction with side, turning, and reverse turning (like spinning hook with straight leg no hook) and we have to do measure ups (i.e) isometric techniques before we break but i cant hold my legs very high in the technique do you have any good exercises to help me get them higher? At moment i'm trying side leg raises + these isometrics over and over again.

  • I can't stress the importance of stretching enough I have a video on stretching I will try and post some exercises in the next week

this is one area you can't over look especially if your style involves allot of kicking so many people try and take the easy way out and it shows in their techniques. Good Luck in your test :)

  • Do you have those stretching exercises. I'm extremely stiff (NO PUN INTENDED)and its getting more difficult to weight train and do MMA. My flexibility is very limited and I'm afraid it maybe too late for me to be more flexible.

  • This is excellent info presented by someone with fine form. I do a similar exercise and will refine it after watching this clip.

  • I like your video very much and the way you explain the actions.

You you mind to give access to more videos with quality about the kicks and training tips

  • great videos! where can i find the tapes???
