The spacer certainly helps since normal pistons are 10 a penny.
Also, if you run a long 19 tooth UNDER 350fps, the teeth WILL eventually strip. Absolute certain guaranteed failure sooner or later. Using a spacer will prevent that.
if this is the Army R85 (L85) is this an 18 tooth piston? and is the same as the G&G piston for the G&G l85? also where could i find the blowback strip for purchase?
To answer your questions:
V2 and V3 gears and motors work, but you need the 19-tooth piston only used in G&G and Army's L85s, I believe.
You can buy the G&G Blowback kit at somewhere like ASGI, I know they have it.

You can use a spacer to enable you to use a normal length piston (16teeth)
Search for Airsoft World and the spacer they sell for this gun.
