Unions also support Labor's mass immigration which will ultimately lower wages. Foreign students can obtain work visa's and then go onto taking employment at a lower than award wage.
Unions also support free trade and the removal of tariffs from imported goods. This pushes our manufacturing offshore.

extortion, threats, intimidation, bullying is exactly what big business does to its employees. unions just give the workers a fighting chance to not take it.
@jeremydmarshall bosses are just as likely to engage in any of those. Get real. You union bashing cowards and scabs couldn't care less about ure fellow Australian, you don't understand the consequences of the idiotic, reactionary politics used to herd you into line by anti-union corporate media propaganda. Grow some spine and have solidarity with your workmates, and others like you. Together we have as much if not more bargaining power then the bosses with a natural advantage over individuals!
@jeremydmarshall Unions. created the middle class. Gave people 5 day work weeks. Sick leave, overtime. help to stop such practices as the March 1911 Triangle fire in New York City. Where dozens of women died because their bosses locked the doors. Unions, great if you are a worker. For even if you don't belong to one. You still benefited.
unions are great, but don't get me started on the stupidity behind pension plans. retirement is an individual responsibility, not a collective problem.
If it was up to be, all unions would be outlawed, declared to be terrorist groups, then hammered with both RICO and the Patriot Act. Their assets and property would be seized, their members and supporters would be executed or sent to Gitmo to do butt pyramids with their mudscum butt buddies.
The unions in this country are one the few things that still try to keep us (Americans) working. I belong Local #886 Cement Masons in Toledo, Ohio and I make $27.39/hour on my check. Plus my pension, annuity, health and welfare my total value I'm working for is over $44.00/hour. If I didn't belong to this union I would still be a scab pouring basements and driveways for $11.00/hour with no pension or health benefits. So fuck all you scabs. UNITED WE STAND!
awaidelich, well you're one of the lucky few, come to Fla. where we have the (RAT) Right

I am proud to say I'm no longer in the wanna be union here in this state, they want their dues money even when your out of work sitting on the bench & letting their buddies go to work before you do and you were next in line to go to work. Working union in Fla. is just like working scab.....
Unions ruin every industry they touch. Been to Detroit or Flint lately? The unions ran the big 3 into the ground. They've ruined the airline, steel, and textile industries and our schools. Why should anyone get paid $27 an hour for a job a monkey could do? My brother could hire a Mexican to do your job for $3 an hour. Supporting unions is begging to be unemployed.
So enjoy your unions boys, your companies will become less and less competitive, go broke, get a bailout from the government, your government will eventually run out of money, increase taxes on your non-unionized more competitive US counterparts and send them broke too, then boo yah! America's downfall will be complete.
You forgot that the company will have to move overseas. The unions are the biggest reason we're losing jobs to China and other 3rd world countries. Why pay some union slug $50 an hour to screw in bolts when they can get some gook to do it for 5 cents an hour? The unions and liberal-imposed taxes and labor and envorionmental laws, along with our worthless public schools(run by teacher's unions) are doing a great job building China's, Mexico's, and India's economy.
@DarrelfromZeeland I support you on the UAW and most commercial unions but trade unions are much different. I am a union cement mason and I would never work for a non-union company ever again.
@awaidelich And then you are going to bitch when your union drives your employer out of business because everyone is getting paid more than they are worth.
@shananagans5 So tell me, what do YOU do for a living? My job is by far one of the most physically challenging of all the trades. Come work for my company for one day and we'll see who is crying about pulling a screed for 6 hours straight then jumping on sliders and wiping out a 20,000 square foot floor with only 5 other guys...making for a 14 hour day with NO break.
@SniperViper1000 You obviously don't understand how an economy works. The fact that people make more money DOES mean it's better for the economy. The more people make, the more they spend, thus stimulating the economy. Also, people tend to do a better job when they are highly compensated making the company better over all.,..the company gets more contracts because of their outstanding work and then they hire more people to balance the work load. That means more people spending more money.
@awaidelich Paying people more than they are worth in the free market does not help the economy. That causes inflation. Productivity helps the economy. If paying people more than they are worth worked we could just pay everyone $200 an hr and all be rich. lol You are only looking at half of the picture. If everyone was overpayed it would simply drive the price of everythig up resulting in more $ floating around but no gain.
@shananagans5 Yes, you're right. But you mistakenly thought I said everyone derserves more than they are worth. I am a SKILLED TRADESMAN (keyword: SKILLED).
