@ThePipePurist I would have thought Nail Enamel would dry hard and I would not be able to get the stem to unscrew.. I can see thta the soft beeswax would work - and I can get some beeswax for furnature at our local DIY store - please would you tell me more about the Nail Enamel and how that works.. my wife has loads of it..LOL..
@ThePipePurist .. apply the enamel, few ! Clean the screw before ( Alc. 60% ) and let dry 24 Hours at the minimum ! Nail enamel is easily to cleans up ..;)
@Puffingthebriar Jimmy - I've been told that the Small claw i fixed dates back to the 1800's- so it's got a bit of history and age behind it - looking forward to bringing it back to life and smoke from it - the new one has a Very thick Stem - and is difficult to clasp in the teeth - unless you are right on the tip of it - but I am going to enjoy using it - thanks Martyn
the meer is old as its stem is proper amber, meerschaums are the only pipes I will now buy with making my own pipes from olive and briar wood, thanks for showing us the pipes, good fix
Great pipe! I've been looking at meerschams for a while now. Have to beef up the pipe budget first, though. Well, these days it seems I have to beef up the budget for a box of matches. LOL
2 very nice pipes... Love the color of the claws on the smaller one... Your new one is what i am looking for... Nice size... Love the claw pipes... Have fun
@secretagent1306 - Back with us scott - hope work was not too hard ..LOL.... the little one was busted when I got it so I'm happy its ok now... Have a good weekend.. Martyn
Great job on the fix. That new Meer is a beauty! I love that stem. Well done on that find. She will be a lifetime of enjoyment as you work to turn that beautiful white carving into a colorful work of art! Cheers!
@hobbypipes No we cannot here in the UK - I think the manager was just pleased to see it sell - we had a good chat about tobacco and such -I makes a nice change to meet someone willing to take an offer...and it was a good saving....
Please, no Tape ! Use nail enamel ( clear ) or Beeswax !
Very nice Meerschaum, indeed..;)
Cheers,
