proof the top comment is B.S snurl(dot)com/21mk242 i know you cant post links, but normal drop C is C2, the one demonstrated here is C1. C-0 is pretty hard to achieve but not impossible, it DOES exist and is NOT a "fart" search for contrabass, that's the proper term, or 9 + string bass they are used. everything below C1 is a zero then double zero but i agree that would be inaudiable. i.e B0 A0 G0 etc. the warwick vampyre darklord bass goes to f#0. get educated people.
That's just superfluous and fuckin stupid. This is what'a wrong with music. Even if you only use those strings for breakdowns then when they finally get used, the distortion (which you can't just bypass for 2 strings) is gonna make your sound muddy and indecipherable. Congratulations, you just ruined that guitar until the day you replace all the strings with a .010-.074 set in F#-Standard. Or B-Standard with a high A as it was intended.
@BeDjentleAZ Get off your high horse dude, No one's ever invented rules for music. Sure this guy isn't putting it this tuning to use properly, but there's never been rules for music. I just set up my 7 string with GDGCFAD and my tech made sure I was serious when I was completely sure of what I was doing, There is no "correct" tuning. Only a standard that anyone who is afraid to experiment can stick to. GDGCFAD isn't the tuning I'm going to stick with but if I feel like experimenting I can.
@JonathanAmaralMusic I agree there are no rules for music or "correct" tunings but there are stupid tunings, stupid exeriments and stupid ideas. This was all three. And it's not a high horse just because I'm above you.
Says the guy with no display of their music, and the fact that he has "Djent" in his username. You're not above anyone, not even the shit kids that walk into Guitar Center to wank and show off a new scale they learned.
@fingersuvfireNfury haters gonna hate. you guys have to realize that the low c is mostly for the low chunking sound as a rhythm in breakdowns. it's kinda useless to have to 2 guitars playing the same exact thing, so i just match my other guitarist on a lower octave for breakdowns.
@Justinjale In the absence of a bass player a lower rhythm sound is okay. The big problem you are going to have is with the quality of sound. You are basically playing a half-bass half-guitar hybrid, but basses sound like garbage through guitar amps and guitars sound like garbage through bass amps.
@midgitmanxx because i wanted to have a very extended range. it's still drop c, but it's in another octave. having a 2nd drop c allows me to just imitate the shapes i played up top, but in a lower octave. also, the string is really damn thick and not meant for my machine head, so tuning it higher may break the guitar.
@LessthanJake14 thats not C0 Normal drop C is "C2", The one hes using is C1 (three notes above lowest on grand piano), C0 is 9 flats below the lowest note on a piano (a0 @ 27.5 hz) and it doesnt sound like a fart. if you have the right setup you can go as low as you want. the only limits are imposed by guitar and bass building companies because they know customers are happy with certain aspects like short scales @ 26 inch. if you build your own, super low notes can sound good on extra long scale
@gxlxs learn something before TRYING to state facts, go fcking look at a piano pitch sheet and prove me wrong. it IS 3 semitones (sharps) above the lowest note on traditional grand piano. 27.5 IS A-0 (the same note on "drop a bass guitar") otherwise it would be a "fart" but its not. i can hear the bottom notes quite easy. go look at a piano pitch diagram on google.
@LessthanJake14 If you take central C on piano (2º string, 1º fret on guitar) as a C3 (like many people do), Drop C have a C1, and Drop C on bass or this guitar would be a C0. But other people take central C as a C4 or even C5, like you are doing. Just different systems.
i dont own an 8 string as much as i want one but i did get drop C on my acoustic, extremely floppy though but when hit softly i could still hear how heavy it is, you should really look into baritone if you are gonna go that low, personally i dont think 30" is long enough maybe 32" or 33" would mean you could use a .90 and have it tight but youd need fan fret as well cus the other strings would need adjusting smaller, sounds good but looks odd, try soulmate necks the guy does custom necks to spec
Very Impressive!

That's not C0. Normal drop C is C3, that's C2.
C0 is just a fart.
LessthanJake14 1 year ago 17
@LessthanJake14 I'm sorry, but that's incorrect. Normal Drop C is actually C2 and he is playing C1. C1 is 32.70 hz, which is a bass tuned to Drop C.

you should get a 30" scale guitar for that. you can do it without ridiculous strings then :P
i go down to D for "supah-low" parts myself, and having a 30" scale definitely makes it work :)

i had an agile 30" intrepid, yeah (check my profile, i did a review and demo video of in insane tunings!)
i now have a 28"-25" fanned fret 8 string and a 30" 6 string baritone :)
