The Greeks must no default. No. They must default and restructure the debt as Argentina did (and now growing for 10 consecutive year at 5-6% average GDP rate). If I'm a speculator, why should I buy a German bond (which pays a lower yield being less risky) when I can buy a Greek bond (that pays a higher yield being more risky) KNOWING that, at the end of the day, someone (Germany, EU) would pay? It is all profits, zero risk. It is a casino. It just puts more pressure on Greek and EC economy.

Sir John Major's legacy grows as we drag into the umpteenth year of the global financial crisis. The contrast with how Major left the country compared to how Labour left it couldn't be more stark. Labour have ruined the economy for a generation. He wasn't perfect and we did have some traumatic times under him, but he was prepared to take the short term pain for the long term; something which current world leaders are not prepared to do.

Brazil was a basket case when John Major was Prime Minister. Now it is breathing behind UK and France and ready to over-pass them in 5 years and become the 5th economy in the world.

John Major is an arrogant twat. It was the conservatives who removed capital controls. Goldman Sachs for example was leveraged 330+ times, by trading fraudulent credit default obligations, and the using them as assets to circumvent capital requirements. Major's just a mouthpiece for the bankers!

Now it is breathing behind UK and France and ready to over-pass them in 5 years and become the 5th economy in the world. 148% GDP is the UK net debt and 50% of the UK export markets (EU) is bleeding on un-employment + deficits.
