  • @Kvaminator

Thanks for the constructive advice, Kvaminator!

  • I want it soooooo bad :'(

  • @DarkWizardMonkey

I'm sure it's been reprinted since that edition. Check Amazon.

Get any Slaine, but definitely the Sky Chariots story arc!

  • God I used to have a copy of that particular story in the eighties!

I even remember some of the lines, notably when one of the vikings saw slaine's fighting prowess and said something to the effect of "you could be my son."

and celtic warriors of the time saying "He's like warriors of old."

  • Nice one.

The new collections, published by Rebellion (who now own the 2000ad characters including Slaine & Judge Dredd) are closer to US format in size.

    1. Warrior's Dawn (includes Sky Chariots arc I believe)

    2. Time Killer

    3. The King

    4. The Horned God (the first colour collection)

There are other storys, all written by Pat Mills, but most of them have yet to be reprinted - apart from the latest 3 volume hardbacks - The Books of Invasions.

  • another amazing novel theres 9 right now 10th comes out in sept. but the walking dead amazing amazing its also in black and white

  • Finn? Nope. Never heard of it.

  • i loved finn. dont think it was released as a graphic novel though

  • Reminds of me of Pat mill's Charley's War.

  • I have the two Titans Charley's War. Excellent stuff!

But it's tough to beat Slaine

  • You can buy these on collected hardback, the only trouble is they`re printed at a smaller size from the original comics. You`re right about black and white comics being the best, it`s a shame they`re so rare these days.

  • Have you read the early books of Nemesis The Warlock, also by Pat Mills and co-creator of League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen Kevin O'Neill? It's possibly even better than Slaine; Aliens, the occult, and action abound!

  • BUt of course! Have the Titan Book collections of Nemesis, Charley's War, ABC Warriors, Rogue Trooper, Dredd.

    Love O'Neill's artwork in Nemesis.

I really enjoyed Metalzoic with Mills and O'Neill.

    Thanks for looking and posting.

  • seeing as you're an american i'll give you the benefit of ignorance(although i've been told 1/2 of white usa is irish).

the squiqqle over the letter A in Slaine is called a "fada". it means you pronounce it LONG.

    so, it's pronounced "slaawwnyya"

    sweet.

  • Thanks Burlearth. I'll still most likely slaughter the pronunciation, but thank you nonetheless.

  • burlearth is only partially right, its pronounced Slaw - in - ehh

Don't worry about it though, no one in Ireland bothers to pronounce it properly either :) Everyone just uses the english pronunciation.

Those Titan graphic albums from the 80's were great...oversized, black and white and HEAVY paper stock. I wish they still made them.

mcmahons art in this is great, more like gustav doré woodcuts than traditional comic art, top class stuff.

  • Thanks for your comment, locusmortis. I agree - the Titan reprint albums/books are fantastic.

They did a very nice b&w set of Neal Adams' Bat-Man. Though not oversized, they're a great addition to my library.

Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment.

  • It's pronounced "Slawn Ya" not "Slaw Ne". Ya, A as in apple.

  • It's pronounced "Slawn Ya" not "Slaw Ne".

  • Cool man nice one! I must get that. i have some colour ones which are also cool.
