  • looked a fun day at Burnham ... stalled forwards are great ... i havent tried any of the modern twins or quads yet... but temped to try a twinzer maybe next time round ... mind you the board im using at the moment seems pretty perfect.

  • @surfguy66 If you're gonna buy a multi-fin I would definitely recommending trying one first! The Evo is the first on I've tried that I like and you can run it single or Twin, which I think is a real bonus. Can have a go on mine if you wan tto try one although its 86!) 8) See ya soon.

  • @TimWindsurf

What I meant was its the first one I've tried which i would buy! Haven't liked the others I've tried. The bonus of three boxes is if you don't like twin, then run it single. For me, if its windy and/or side shore, then run twinzer, if its particularly onshore, then single. What's so impressive is that because of the new boxes Starboard are using, the triple box with side screws is actually lighter than a traditional US Single box! My Evo 86 is only .1kg heavier than the Kode 86!

  • Really interesting! Think I might do a review of them. Am tempted to get an Evo instead of a Kode 86 next because in single fin mode the Evo seems to be almost as fast, or ay least I cant tell the difference (and heads up wind as easily etc too), but you can really turn it tight! So Kode to Evo, the Kode is slightly (almost imperceivably so), while the Evo turns slightly better (or is easier).

  • It really interesting when you run the Evo Twinzer mode as well which makes it really versatile. You can take it out in side shore and really punish the waves, its so easy to wave ride like this and forgiving. Its totally different and a real wave riding supremo when you switch to Twinzer mode.

The Kode is more a dedicated speed machine and the Evo is more "fun"! You can make them do each other's role, but its outright speed or a really versatile wave king.

  • Lastly, I would say that the Evo doesn't suffer the problems of the more extreme Twinzer's or Quads which can be far too "slidey" for me (they don't track, go fast, or head upwind). In Twinzer mdoe, the Evo is slightly more single fin like than other multi-fin boards Ive tried, and is where personally I like it to be (so will suit someone like me, more of a power rider and slightly heavier).

Let me know if you have any questions, would be glad to give you a go if it works out on the beach!

  • Good vid again. Have you found much difference between the Kode and the Evo, as they are the same volume?
