Perhaps it's different outside the city centre (where I live) but I've never experienced any serious homophobia - I've had the odd person shout faggot from a car, but fuck them. I've never had anyone openly come up to my face-to-face and been negative about my sexuality.

I'm gay, live in London and have done my entire life, I find London one of the most gay-friendly cities in the world!
Perhaps it's different outside the city centre (where I live) but I've never experienced any serious homophobia - I've had the odd person shout faggot from a car, but fuck them. I've never had anyone openly come up to my face-to-face and been negative about my sexuality.

This documentary. or what is shown here of it, doesn't really provide too much clarity into this issue Not enough demographic stats on who they questioned, perpetrators of hate crimes and locations of both. The narrator starts off with an incredibly naive statement about diversity in London and from that an expectation of tolerance. Is what follows meant to refute that notion or make it a singular condition in London despite diversity?

And, to add to that, governmental and religious forms of injustice.These "opinions" being expressed are not inconsequential, as hopefully you can now see. We're not talking about an ultra-civilized sharing of views on the Oxford debate team. There are perfectly legitimate reasons for concern.

I am always sceptical aout these so-called statistics! Especially when they are collected on the street as seems to be the case here.It didn't look like a hugely diverse cross-section of the London population.The main issue is how ALL police forces throughout Britain deal with homophobic hate crimes and how vigourously local authorities defend it's residents against homophobic incidences.

I dont think that this is credible or balanced really, i get no hassle from straight people, and i dont care about the ones who consider homosexuality as 'bad', as long as i can live my life as an equal without hassle then im fine, the rest of the world are intitled to their opinion and most of the uk will happly let gay people get on with their lives.

I understand what you're saying.I don't think there's a 'rule book' on when's the right time to act on one's sexual feelings.And trying to change one of the most integral parts of ourselves,i.e. our sexuality only brings a world of grief,fear and lies.Thankfully times have changed since I was at school in the 70s,there were no anti-bullying policies back then and it was worse if you were bullied for being gay. Yes,it DOES get better.

Watching this video again in shock. gays are better off in America than they would be in London. Its pretty bad. I never would have thought it would be as bad as this. A lot of this is influenced by America in my opinion. Funny thing is, most of those people saying they are homophobic are foreigners or black, not to be racist but the law clearly protects gays as equally as other races, so they better shape up or ship out.

I used to think America was homophobic... I mean they are, I live here so I know, but I was born and raised in the UK but for some reason thought it had changed since the law changed. Homophobia seems to be worse over there than it is here. The only difference in America being the law does not protect gays.

@eviltreemonster Yeah, Ive tried not to be intolerant towards other races, but I think urban areas in London in particular are really bad for homophobia. Its really weird because, aside from the really country/redneck type areas, I have felt much more comfortable being gay in ALABAMA than I probably would now since watching this video. The anti social behavior is crippling London and the rest of England, and I am not looking forward to living round that again. Hopefully I won't have to.

Well I was born in CA as well. My family are ethnic Russians. When they came over here, they did not force everyone to learn Russian. They learned English.
