  • Listen to the Johnny Cash version its the real and its WAYYYY BETTER :D and its not about self harm or suicide

  • @EmoLexi333 they both has the same lyrics... they're both about the same thing, and they both preseented it in roughly the same way O.o

  • @EmoLexi333 if my real you mean original, you need to do a bit more research.

  • @EmoLexi333 Trent Reznor wrote the song, this is the original you moron .Also the song is about heroin addiction, not self harm or suicide so get your facts straight .

  • This would be a cool song to play after you die. Like you die then God/whoever plays this for you lol I say that cuz to me you can say life is joy & all that horse shit lol but Life rly is pain not in a emo way but everything slowly dies from the day its born & in the end life for all the joy there is 5x more sad & pain. I hav had joy but this is the truth about this muddy rock lol & this would be a good way to for life to say "Yea I know it was fucked up. Heres a song to sum it up sorry.." lol

  • Would be a lot better without the wind current in the background.

  • I feel different... i dont intend to harm my self to this song like iv seen so many people say they have... I honestly really love this song and it touches me deep in my heart but doesnt make me feel like hurting my self... it just makes me feel like what ever idc.

  • Cutting used to be my addiction -i remember one time i cut so deep i needed stitches - my boy friend was there for me when i did it, he patched up the wound as best as he could until my mum got home - it snapped both of us out of our depression - we strive for happiness now, we cure our sickness with love, laughter and caring - and one day we will both heal, until then we make the best out of every day

  • I'm sick and tired of it. I'm not mean, but what the fuck. "Does anyone harm themselves while listening to this song?" Why, just why would you tell the world that you hurt yourself on the internet.Keep it to yourself please.

  • @TF2Medic2 Sharing sadness halves it while sharing happiness doubles it

  • @TF2Medic2 why are you being a dick about it...? ...so what if people hurt themselves while listening to this? everyone needs an outlet...even if it means self-injury...not saying it's good...but it's their business...not yours...if someone wants to share it, let them...don't stop them...you might just push them over the edge by freaking out on them...

  • Does anyone else harm themselves while listening to this song?

  • I like cash' cover.

  • can anyone tell me, did Rez and Cash hang out?

Rez wrote this and Cash made it his own. Both versions are awesome.

  • @kiljoy67 They never did hang out but they have talked before. Cash passed soon after his version was released.

  • Not the sort of thing I'd be listening to, But I really love it! Brilliant song if I'm honest.

  • crown of thorns > crown of shit.

  • I think all the views on this video are from me,just sayin'

  • colombiana

  • Why? Why can there never ever be a Hurt video that doesn't compare the two? Why? Why?

  • @VaticanAssassion That's like asking for a Metallica video where no one mentions Megadeth.

  • first, by 20 years

  • This song is amazing. This video is good too. Thanks for the upload!

  • Tis' a good song. I really like the font you use!

  • this song is creepy as fuck

  • Correction. The lyrics were written by Trent Reznor.

  • I love this song and the Johnny Cash version but this ones a lot more grunge <3

  • I just went and listened to the johnny cash version and I must say the original is waaay better *nods* I was never much of a Cash fan but this is way better *nods*

  • @stlplayr oh wow 6minute song is the longest you have ever heard?! you should try listening to jam bands once in a while you can get some great phish, umphrey's or the grateful dead songs that are over 25minutes long!

  • @alabeecha he said loneliest, not longest

  • i think this is a really good song, and yeah it does have a lot of potential for covers but that is what is great about it. it is simple yet elegant and full of meaning and feelings. i could see a lot of bands doing a good cover of this.. but that doesn't make the original any less amazing!

  • I hate when someone covers a song and a bunch of dumbass people try telling you that the people who MADE the song ruined it with their cover... its like OMG you freaking idiot's try giving props to the correct people here...like when that rapper covered a daft punk song and people were like did daft punk steal that from the rapper... NO they rapper guy stole it from daft punk get it right ~_~" people do that crap all the time its really annoying :/

Idiocy runs wild in this country..

  • @DeliveryManBoy

I Love Johnny Cash but you sir are stupid if you think this

  • One of the loniest songs I've ever heard.

  • @stlplayr dude 6 minutes is not long for a song ever heard of 2112 (20 minutes), close to the edge (17 minutes), eat a peach (too long to remember), etc

  • @TheChanneldejavu Don't forget NOFX's "The Decline"! It's a one song album!!!

  • @TheChanneldejavu Have you ever heard of a change of seasons by dream theater ? Some version are like 35 minutes !

  • @TheChanneldejavu Sleep's Dopesmoker- One hour, three minutes.

  • I heard the cash version first but I feel that NIN put more meaning behind the words. I didn't fully understand the song until I heard this version.

  • First time I heard this song was on Johnny Cashs voice and I loved it so much it actually took me years to look for the original version (yes, I knew it was a NIN song).

The thing is, when I listen to this song it is awesome, powerfull, pure feeling, no matter the singer.

Truth be told, I don't see this and Cashs as two versios of the same song, to me they feel like to completely diferent songs.

  • had to say...i cry everything i listen to this song...

  • describes everything im feeling

  • nice

  • First time I heard this song I cried, no lie.

  • Lol, what's up with all this talk about *versions*... If that version is better than you are watching the wrong video. Music shouldn't be a fucking competition. If this isn't good enough; then watch the other version of this song, and stop showing your ass online by criticizing the NIN version of this song. Like foreal...Nobody really gives a flying fuck.

  • next, people will be trying to say that Soundgarden covered Johnny Cash's 'Rusty Cage', lol.

  • I have been looking for this song for over 3 years. Thank you, @xias0mors. Thank you so much.

  • It rocks that Johnny did them as a cover.... what an honor

  • This song makes me cry...everytime

  • i love both versions :) but i prefer this one.

  • Johnny Cash and NIN are both super good so every one can shut up now.

  • @GublerRussia one of the most intelligent comments on this video. People should stop comparing the two versions and saying which is "better"... Come on, music is subjective. There IS no "better". There are only personal opinions. Both are amazing in their own ways. Can't people just be quiet and enjoy the fantastic music?

  • @DudeMeister44 Thank you. Your my new ffav person right now.

  • Johnny Cash did a great cover of this song. I'm a big fan of Cash, but a bigger fan of Nine Inch Nails. 8^)

  • love it.

  • Reznor's version contains the passion, fear, and anger of a young man's despair. Cash's has the acceptance and regret of an old man's. Both are beautiful -- the fact that Cash made a cover of it is but a compliment to the song. It recognizes that the message is a universal one, known to all generations.

  • thanks .

  • Now that I've heard both, I consider them to be just as good as each other. I personally think Cash's voice fits the song better, but I like the original's music better.

  • I feel like Johnny Cash is one of the only artists out there who was ever worthy enough to cover a NIN song. And now he is dead. :P Certainly more worthy than Linkin Park.

  • i respect the johnny cash version, how could you not? BUT trent's voice is classic to me personally. cash is definitely a legend but i can relate to trent better. probably just because of the generation im from. i'm a 90's kid. and it reminds me of afi's sing the sorrow days, for some reason.

  • i love this song so much it describes my life so well excpet for needles but everything else is so true.

  • Good video:)

  • NIN Version is better :)

  • NIN are a lot better than Cash... And let me tell you... I love Cash. And to Cash, cover NIN is a honer.

  • @cyclonethefox132 cash's is pretty good too :P

  • i think you did well. the font seemed to go well for the song 5/5

  • To be perfectly honest I prefer the Johnny Cash version. I've got nothing against NIN, it's just I find his version a little easier to digest :).

  • @filoponex6 for most people cash is easier, but tis not the nature of the song .

  • @xias0mors who are you to say what the nature of a song is? music is art and as such it is open to interpretation.

  • @hasao21 its obvious what the nature of the song is, have you no empathy ? lol

  • @filoponex6 I disagree, I mean I had onlt heard the johnny cash version at first and I loved it, but then I heard this version and I prefer it so much more, just because I feel like it's more their style than his. but the Cash version is still amazing
