  • I'm caucasion, and have always enjoyed gospel singing by African American choirs. Of course I'm a bit of a blues hound too. How lucky we are in America so many genres of music!

    Thanks for posting this!

  • I love old hymns. I also said I'd never sing another one. I think todays nusic has lost the reveerance "Factor" for just who God "Elohim" is. I to fall on my knees and call God Holy.

  • ohh man, cmon guys,

our god is a modern god man! he knows all music bfre its created,

if he didnt like it it wdnt be out thr tbh,

yupp, sure enuf bring bk sum old songs, but hnest? the new wuns are meant to target younger ppl, simply bcos, the older people who listened to all th older hymns, thr saved!

if it takes modernising worship songs to attract the youth, then so be it!

lets nt get caught up with religious ways, bcos if we cant stick god in a box, we shdnt stick our faith in a box!

    peace!

  • I think the uploader means that the "gospel" music today, and it's artists are dragging the music to the world's level in order to popularize the music...only the music suffers when this is done. I went to a concert to see negro spirituals, and most of the choirs were white! You can't find a choir in the black churches these days singing that type of music. We need to put down Franklin, Adams, etc... and dust off Dawson,or we will have a generation that is ignorant of the music of our past.

  • @aacourtland It seems like the dark forces are taking over all forms of life and entertainment, and even worship...Its what is in our Hearts that matters to GOD..Keep praising him I feel he loves to hear his name as much as we like hearing ours...Praise Jesus..Amen

  • Glory to the Son of God! I'm not over 40 but I understand the title of the video.

  • Must we go in on everyone that posts something on youtube we dont like...forgive them and move on...by the way yall are crucifying the brother for what he named the video, I'm sure he wished he never posted it...SMH

  • Honestly, you're TRULY a hypocrite if you or any other person seems to believe that there are hymns that separate the age group of the congregation. You are too foolish to even concieve the number of people who were actually raised on church hymns. SMH

  • im searching of hyms like gorgoroth albums where can i find them?

  • I'm 23 and if I go to a church that don't sing the old hymns, it doesn't feel like church to me. I need to hear that old pipe organ play and I have to hear "There is a fountain". I absolutely love the hymns. Thats all I sing. Not that I don't like contemporary Christian music because they're all about the gospel of Jesus, its just that they don't make me feel the same way as when I hear the good ole hymns.

  • And how is this not for the 40 and younger crowd. That's the trouble today we thought we had to drag the music down to the world's level

  • Instead of a spereating theology, have a TEACHING theology that can INCLUDE ALL. Christ is inclusive, not divisive!!!!!

  • ...How is this NOT for the 40 and younger crowd?

  • I love this song!!!

  • Sorry to rain on your parade, but I am 22 yrs old and also the Organist for Greater Day Holiness, I played this exact hymn a couple of sundays ago for our First Sunday cekebration.......age is truly not a number

  • Bible, the Word of God, says how to worship the Lord with HYMNS, PSALMS, and SPIRITUAL SONGS

Psalm 95:2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

Psalm 68:4 Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.

    Ephesians 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

  • \o/ Praise the Lord of lords and King of kings, his name is Jesus Christ, him crucified and risen unto glory, HalleLuJah !

Brethern, praise the Lord, Your response to the love of the hymns, psalms, and spiritual songs is wonderful.. I'm not surprised you love them.

  • Uhh...I'm 34 and I know the hymn book by heart...LOL. Sorry to intrude on your 40 and over group...My church had five choirs. The Senior Choir sang nothing but hymns and anthems.

  • Comment removed

  • haven't heard this in a long time, "I Bowed on My Knees and Cried Holy"

  • I'm 20 and I play hymns at my church for the adult and youth choir. Age is nothing but a number....

  • I'm 25 and sometimes I would rather hear the hymns that some of the junk they call gospel these days...dont sleep on the 40 and under the majority of us who were raised in the church understand the importance of the hymns and their keeping power and we love them. Holy to the LORD

  • I'm 15 and I sing hymns hundreds of years old, there theology is just so much better

  • @stepharnos me too! I'm not really into the newer stuff. I like a traditional church.

  • @stepharnos Me too. I'm a 15 year old minister and even my pastor who is 50 something years old calls me old man.

  • Im 25 and study hymns...age is nothing but a number...

  • I am 36 Yrs old and I grew up in Rome Ga. We went to a small church about 30 mins from the city, it was out in the woods. It was called, Mount Table Baptist Church. We had an Out House for a rest room at this church. It wasn't until years later that we gathered enough money to have a rest room built. These were the songs I grew up on. Oh yeah and we didn't have a piano or organ lol. It was feet and hands. So don't count under 40's out lol. Im only 36 yrs old too.

  • ive sung this song my who life and im 18

  • I am 42 and my wife is 40......we LOVE the old Hymns!!!

  • well I am 22 and I grew up hear my grandparents sing these songs. My grandfather has been a Pentecostal bishop for 53 years so i have heard these songs for quite sometime and often find myself singing them also! YOU can NEVER go wrong with the hymns!

  • Like don't label us young folk like that... I'm 19 and I love this song...

  • Continued: Now that I have a relationship with Christ Jesus the beat no longer matters and I connect with these songs because they have substance.

  • I am 34 and I love the old hymns. Now days we get caught up with a good beat so we can get our dance on. It doesn't even matter whether the song is an old school 70's disco gospel remix. I like many sung these hymns but lacked a connection.

  • I'm 39 but I've enjoyed these hymns ever since God saved me from hell ! Especially when they're sung from a humble heart.

  • yes sir!

  • Beautifully done!!. Younger than 40. Q.T.I.P. Quit Taking It Personally. It’s great you have an appreciation for this hymn done this way. Some younger people cannot embrace the hymn done this way.

  • I don't know this one, admittedly. I'm 27, but my mother was/is a church pianist, and she taught me to love the old hymns. :) Aaaaaaaaaaand, I also played in an old-fashioned Baptist church for 3 years (til I recently had my baby). I love the old hymns. I have to say, though, I don't love the organ. :P

  • obie trice realest motherfucking nigga fo real fo when da nigga get's on da mic he smashes the fuck outta any other emcee and fuck y'all fake ass niggas

  • I'm currently 19, and I've known this song pretty well...since I was like, 8. This song is amazing. Absolutely love it!

  • I'm just over 40 - became a Christian at the age of 20 and have always preferred the 'old' hymns because they are full to overflowing with Jesus and His teaching, unlike most modern stuff which is all emotion and very little devotion...

  • Don't agree with Title, The Old Hymns of The Church are still Powerful even today. Kinda Like the Blood, Will never loose their power.

  • that title needs to be burned like seriously im 31 and know this song as well

  • I take offense to that 40 and younger headline..I'm a lovely 30 year old woman who was raised by Southern Baptist tradition and let me tell you, I prob kno more hymns then most Mothers of the church in this day and age..God doesnt look at age or how many songs you can sing, its about your praise at the end of the day..And if ppl keep looking for reasons to exclude others, dont be surprised on your judgement day when you're the one excluded!! Besos...

  • Just turned 40 and this song was strong when I was a child and is still strong today.

  • How can U say a song of God is for a certain age group.....God bless you and I enjoyed it anyway and I am 28.

  • Um. I'm 23, and I know this song word for word. I was raised on this wonderful kind of Gospel of the south. God bless!

  • Music is the universal language. You don't have to share the same dialect to feel the power in this type of praise. I'm 32 and love both old traditional and the new age praise and worship. Without these songs of Zion we would not have had the visual examples of what it truly means to overcome. These songs are timeless! God is an ever changing God who will reach the masses by any means necessary through soldiers in His army that reinvent the good news in a musical language understood by all.

  • What is the name of this hymn? And it should be for all ages, young and old alike. The Lord name be praise!

  • i love this song

  • I'm 51 and i was raised on this! Worship of God has no generation..it is timeless! Ask yourself how old is God...would you say the same about him?

  • My advice to all of you, look on Amazon.com for "The Ministry of Music in the Black Church" written by Rev. Dr. J. Wendell Mapson. He's the Pastor of Monumental Baptist Church in Philadelphia and it'll most definitely open your eyes when it refers to hymns, spirituals, contemporary music and about the choir, the congregation, the musicians, and the church as a whole when it comes to music.

  • My thought on this is... if these old songs cannot light the fire in your sprit.. then your wood is wet.. get out of your 5% and into someone else's 95%... Do not take the joy out of someone else's love for the Lord. Find a church that matches what you need and stay there... by the way in 20 years ... someone just like you will tell you the same thing about your music. I love the Lord... no matter what music tempo it is delivered in.

  • ditto what firestarter said....i grew up singing these songs with my granddad...

  • im 29 and i love that old time religion, all yous need is a snare, tamborine and a voice thts the best praising imo.

  • I'm 37 and remember this song well! Cathy Taylor sang it on one of her recordings also.

  • AMEN EVERY TIME THIS SONG ii am reminder of my mother faith in the Lord. this is the last song she could mouth be fore she died. and I find this a great confort thank You Lord

  • I am 25.... I love songs like this!

I am more familiar with the version sung by the gaither vocal band though.

  • I belive the statement was trying to convey that those who are 40 and younger some of them not all of them probably wouldn't like this . i my self like the hyms and praise and worship style which by the way im 28 but some in my age group and older don't care for hyms and the like they ONLY care for the kirk franklin and tye tribbet style

  • @walkinwitjesus But still you can't make that comment because you don't know what they would like. I'm a 24 year old Minister of Music. I love old hymns. Like I said in another comment, the whole "they don't sing, pray, preach, etc. like they used to" is started with comments like "not for the 40 & younger group". The problem is in a lot of the churches, hymns are being erased. Hymns & spirituals are the foundation of worship & praise and all gospel music. Younger christians need to know hymns.

  • I am 26 and i grew up Old Church Hymn and i can toss around a Dr. Watts with the best of them.

  • 24 and LOVES hymns and gospels! I keep a hymn book by my beside. These songs touch areas some of the other songs cannot.

  • Hallalujah brother im 16 and i listen and know more about about southern gospel music than anything contemporary!! And prefer southern gospel anyday!!

  • I am 59 and Apostolic and this still my everyday problems and I thank Jesus the Almighty for what He has done for me and what He is going to do

  • 21 and lovin this song am an apostolic and this music carries the annointing

  • I love the 'disclaimer - not for the 40's and under'....it should read 'Not for ANYONE'. Now I know why I don't have anything to do with God/religion and church! What an assult on the ears!! (Sorry, but it's just HORRIBLE).

  • @qantasCapt

I respect your opinion, but I have to ask; how did you find this video then?

  • @1joker88 - Oh, you know how it is...you have a name of a hymn in mind then try looking for it here on 'the Tube' and then something totally different from what one was expecting comes up. I didn't mean to cause any upsets...I guess I'm just used to the traditional sounding stuff (British). Happy New Year anyway.

  • @qantasCapt

Happy new year to you, too. Yes I know what you mean; it may come across as odd b/c this hymn, though still traditional, has a gospel beat to it. Gospel (correct me if I'm wrong) isn't the most popular type of music in parts of Europe? That's why I find it so amazing that Mahalia Jackson was so popular over there.

  • @1joker88 - I've just remembered the first line to THAT hymn I was expecting to find here. The first line starts with "He who would valiant be".....I can't recall the name of the tune, though. We used to sing it (with different words) years ago at one school I attended. I've not found Gospel to be very popular at all in Europe - I'm in Australia at present and it's not all that big here either but some Christian churches are 'jazzing' things up a bit - so I'm led to believe.

  • Shame on us elders for not teaching the next generation to love and appreciate our rich history of hymns. How many of these old hymns have comforted and encouraged generations of Christians of every race and age. They are part of the glue that holds The Church together! You may not be able to remember a scripture, but you can remember a hymn! I can't wait to sing with that heavenly choir!

  • I love old hymns and I'm only 23. I used to attend an Assemblies of God (Pentecostal) church and all they played was contemporary music. I love the new style of worship music but the old hymns wins hands down!!

  • Bowing down and crying 'Holy' is rooted in the worship of the angelic host before the throne of God (Is. 6). ..not the 40 plus. The question is not 'how old are you?' The question is 'do you know the King who is Holy?' The song has been given to the saints of the ages..All ages!..So let's join heaven and rid ourselves of segregated singing. If He'sHoly..in a class all by Himself..Then cry out!

  • The problem with comments like not for the 40 & younger crowd is that's where the whole "they don't sing, pray, preach, etc. like they used to" stuff comes from. The 40 & younger crowd need to know about the older hymns that aren't done in the church anymore. You shouldn't say something, especially something in the church, isn't for a certain crowd. How can you exclude a group of God's people from something of his?

  • I know this song and im under 40...thank you very much. All of us aren't opposed to hymns and we do appreciate the history

  • nothing wrong with anything....39...favored

  • nothing wrong with anything....39

  • Nothing amuses me more than singing the descendents of slaves singing the hymns taught to their ancestors by their ancestors' slavemasters. Doesn't anyone else see how that's messed up?

  • @MankoLKR

This is a fine discussion point. Why does it amuse you? The slaves sifted Christianity through their own cultural sieves and took faith in the Christian God, giving these otherwise cold and vapid old hymns personal relevance and vitality. Please complete your thoughts with articulation in a personal message to me. Thanks. There is much we can discuss.

  • I beg to differ. ;-) I love this song and I'm 19. I have yet to hear a new song that can beat the old hymns of the church. :-)

  • @tonewheelplayer

I'm 19 Too...And Old Hymns Is Mostly What I Grew Up On!

Nothing Like A Good Hymn To Help You Get Thru The Day!! =)

  • @tambourine4lyfe09

agreed, agreed...i'm 18...no where close to 40 yet.....I believe that these old hymns are exactly what the 40 and below need to hear!!! Jeremiah 6:16.

  • This 40 and younger is bull!! Anything that has to do with Jesus and God is for anyone at any age!

  • Im in my early 20's. 21 to be exact and I LOVE these old hymals. Ive been singing in the Adult choir at my church since the age of 11, so This is what I grew up in my church singing! Im also a director and Ill teach these type songs b4 I teach the new ones!

  • I'm also in my 20s and love the old hymns and church songs, always have. I used to go to a little old fashioned country church with my grandma, and I loved the singing there. It seems like people put more heart into it when there's not so much repetition of praise choruses only, or so much reliance on modern arrangements and instruments.

  • @BecomingAGodlyWife wow took the words right out of my mouth!! its because back then they had more passion for worshiping God now days its all who sounds the best. I'm eighteen by the way.

  • what is this?

  • @bar073000 I believe its either 'I cried Holy to the Lamb" or 'I Bowed on my knees" I think its the 2nd one though1

  • There's just something special about a church with one mind and of one accord simply singing on how God is holy. The slower pase of this song along with the words surely gained God's attention as a body of believers singing to Him and not an audience. Thank you for posting this video of a great worship in song.

  • Absolutely wonderful!

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  • God's Word states "He hath made everything beautiful in His time." Remember everyone to be thankful for the comment. The Bible says "In everything, give thanks." I am glad he or she put the comment because I can now say that he or she must be careful in making statements like that. I am not angered by this. It just lets me know that more "soul-searching" needs to take place. The song has meaning. The comment was to "lure" you. Ignore it and enjoy Jesus! God HATES confusion. Amen!

  • "Not for the 40 and younger crowd": Crapp! Says dezedamster@kpnplanet.nl.

  • You must sing all verses to a hymn in order to tell the story.

  • I'm 22 and I love this hymn...in fact, I'm often referred to as a young lady wtih an old soul...people my age love modern gospel, I love the traditional gospel...

  • @mrsrayndolph I'm almost 21 and people have told me the same thing.

  • I agree with deliveredin2009 but would add that God really uses hymns to cut deep into my heart. They allow for some of the most amazing communion oppurtunities with God and to not have this would be to ones loss and we need all we can receive with Jesus.

  • Another great song . Give all Glory to God.

  • AMEN!!!!! All I can do is wave my hand and say "AMEN!"

  • Amen... wonderful hymn...Praise Jesus!!!

  • @MankoLKR, If we quote from the Bible and believe it that's our concern and none of ur business. If it doesnt bother the other people here why do u waste your time telling us something we dont care to hear about. If we r naive, stupid or dumb 4 believing in the Bible thats none of ur business. why r u even on this post.

  • I'm 22 and i don't even care for new school. I'm old school all the way. Its not about age. Hyms are the ultimate! I even talk about it on my channel and the anointing reaches generations of people not just people that were living when they were written.

  • If some younger people find this familiar, this is the song that Michael English does. Years before that, it was recorded by the Blackwood Brothers.

  • I am thirty and remember this being sung when I was a child! I love it!

  • Don't be so literal. I can't speak 4 the person but I'm sure they meant by the age gap that many would not be familiar wit this hymn. Your response may prove that point based on maturity in Christ. Settle down. U are being defensive 4 no apparent reason. much love

  • Descendents of slaves singing the songs of their ancestors' masters. How sad.

  • @MankoLKR

    Galatians 3:27-29 (New International Version)

27for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

  • @cheriverge, the Bible was written by mortal men who ate pooped like everyone else. To quote from it as if it were a reliable source or "the word of God" is incredibly naive at best and reckless at worst.

  • to bad the church does not sing like this no more I like classic songs like this

  • Hey, my last name is Ray also, Do you have any relatives in Oklahoma?

  • A beautiful rendition of a beautiful song. Oh that those under 40 would appreciate this type of music and the vision this song represents. I agree with oldtimeway1. This is for everybody.

  • The greatest gift and pleasure is to hear a choir like this sing . Very few things come close.

  • Could have better sound - BUT this reminds me of when I would sneak out of the house at night and go listen to the summer revival singing and preaching at Mount Olive Baptist Church. I may have been only 9 or 10 and the only white face there, but I loved that music then and it still blesses me.

  • Amen, it only means more the longer you serve him.

  • Salvation and the songs of Zion have no age limits

  • This here music is for any age. The great music of praising our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ knows no age, color, nor ethnicity. One of these days, every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord, to the glory of God the Father, Hallelujah! I love the singing and that organ. Praise God!

  • That is a really great sounding organ! Is that a B3 Hammond?

  • A real blessing.....

  • My aunt, Missionary Gertrude Ervin Simmons, lead this song in our Women Chorus. She, too, has gone home to be with the Lord. Both our aunts are now "crying Holy to the so of God."

  • Thank you for sharing this video, yes i am over fourty, but if you love the Lord you can feel this at any age. these are the kind of songs that keep you humble and make you strong... God bless you and your family.

  • I'm 26. My generation needs to know these songs just as much as the new ones! My grandpa always made sure me and my cousins knew them. He says there is important truths in them. I wake up singing them sometimes. They are often the only thing that gets me through the day.

  • i am a 13 year old preacher and i love sanging this song!

  • To God be the Glory!

  • I,m 25 and I love these kind of songs. This song was written by kenneth morris , origanaly sung by Mahalia Jackson in 1951 Kenneth Morris was playing the organ on miss Jackson's recording.

  • I'm 17 years old and I know this song...&& know most of the hymnals in the book...

  • God bless you!Sing His praises for the rest of your life,Godismagnificent!

  • OUTSTANDING from beginning to end!! They could come to the church I attend anytime and sing and play and sway away!!

  • If certain hymns are not for the 40 and under crowd then Jesus is not for 40 and under crowd because the hymns reflect him. We need to get out of self and stop the foolishness! Nowaday, everything has to be fast, beaty, and loud! Everybody wants to rock and dance regardless of the anoiting Gospel songs used to be convicting. Now they are simply emotional. If the gospel in song form can be outdated then the gospel in word form can also be said to be outdated.

  • Many contemporary songs today still contain the Gospel. If the gospel in hymns is convicting, then the gospel in contemporary music is convicting. Because Jesus IS for the under 40 as well, they must be able to worship through their own expression.

David danced like a fool through the streets in worship and praise to God, we should let the youth do the same.

  • Whatever floats you boat!

  • Delivered, I'm the same way, too. I'm 41 and also prefer a more traditional style of worship -- the contemporary praise choruses seem to be a bit shallow by comparison. I'm not questioning the salvation of anyone who thinks otherwise or anything, but the hymns have a lot more meaning to me.

BTW, we recently changed churches (both of these are Southern Baptist, BTW) from a large one that's contemporary to a much smaller one with a traditional style of worship, and that was a big plus with me.

  • in our testimony, what reaches us is what reaches us; either through song or spoken word, ;lets work hard not to compare or put down. Sure, you'll naturally compare because you're human; but let it be in your head or mind, and not publicly. We push the young people away when we do that. Embrace all that is about GOD........I'm 44 and from waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay south

  • @deliveredin2009 i think what they mean is that thoes 40 and under wont know this song

  • @deliveredin2009 I completely agree with you. And this is beautiful.

  • @deliveredin2009- I gotta say... You're pretty quick to speak. I'm SURE that you are aware that there is this issue world wide about "what worship really is" Unless your name is "Christ" who are you to be the one to determine "what worship really is"...? If Chris Tomlin or Hillsong can write songs that reach the youth of today, why should their songs be labeled as "simply emotional" I've seen hundreds of kids respond to salvation through modern worship songs.

  • @deliveredin2009- One more thing. Worship is not about what's coming out of the speakers. It's about what is coming out of your heart.

"I'll bring you more than a song, for a song in itself is not what you have required. You search much deeper than this, through the way things appear. YOU'RE LOOKING INTO MY HEART! I'm coming back to the Heart of Worship and it's all about You, It's all about you Jesus. I'm sorry Lord for the thing I've made it, when it's all about You, it's all about you Jesus"

  • @deliveredin2009 You said that very well.

  • @deliveredin2009 I think that as long as your heart is praising God, then He doesn't care what the music (or lack thereof) sounds like.

  • Amen I am 28 and i love the old Hymns I grew up with them Praise God

  • would so much prefer acapella

  • Hallelluiahh!!!!

  • Amen.... They said not for 40 and under. that is so not true I'm 29 and my sister is 31 and we both love this song

  • Ditto...I'm 32

  • I am certain it was to let those us know to enter into the time of 'praise' that I/others like me recieved. Thank GOD someone did.Can you just enjoy the blessing & convert some more youth/old to GOD without getting all fleshy that this stuff is 'old stuff' to the some of the younger crowd. AND some of them 'young or old' may not have heard it; and may want to be alerted that this is not a 'jamming, new school venture'. Just recieve & praise GOD for the spirit of this person's sharing heart.

  • JohnBoy,

There is a specific traditional Black worship style, particularly the Black Baptists. If you don't know that, then you are obviously not Black or so alienated from your culture, you are white washed.. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I love the old way.

  • wonderfull, God bless every body... God be with you...

  • Thank you so much for posting this song,NOTHING,NOTHING,NOTHING, like the old hymns sung with so much conviction. Thank you.Excellent Job!!!!!

  • the way i like to have church and see in buffalo ny being a proud member of the salvation army i thank god for the old hymns

  • I never knew there was an "old" way to Worship the "King of Kings" and "Lord of Lords"? Praise be to His Holy Name today and forever! This beautiful sister sang praises from her heart as well as the young lady that played one of those "old fashioned" organs to glorify her Lord also. It has been said that the devil fell from heaven right into the choir loft of nay sayers and better wayers. Enough said, thank you Jesus!

  • I think what the poster means is that many more modern hymns use rock/pop rythyms and are played using electric instruments. They still praise the Lord, but this is a more 'traditional' hymn/gospel song and something that older people might relate to more, as it takes us back to the time before the modern approach. It's what the Americans used to call Ole Timey in the 1950's. This is of course applicable to all generations. Plainsong/Chant was surplanted by Baroque mass for instance.

  • TudorGDavis, well said. Of a truth, nothing else really needs to be said because you've truly hit the nail on the head as far as clarifying/expanding on what I I also feel the poster meant in your comment. I also agree. I can't remember the last time I've heard good gospel singing in our churches, which is a shame. The pastors today cater totally to the younger crowd in spite of the "older" members who still enjoy the old hymns & have been faithful in supporting the church for years and years.

  • This song is awesome... I have a version sung by Doris Akers and the SKY PILOT CHOIR from the 1960's... It will make you shout!! I just have to figure how to upload it.. Thank You for posting this good old favorite for the younger generation..

  • I love Singing the ole time way and I am only 23 years old It brought Our Older saints over and im sure it can do the same for us. It is just singing the old time songs it has such a Great and Powerful Meaning.

  • I agree! I'm 23 as well, and I have loved this type of singing my whole life! No gimmicks...just pure old school praise!

  • What a blessing!

  • The whole idea that "this isn't for young people" is exactly what is wrong with a lot of black churches, or perhaps churches in general. Isn't the idea that one should bow on one's knees and cry Holy, what we need to see in the younger population? Speaking as a member of that generation.

  • I agree w/ thegreensphinx, what difference is it how old we are, what color we are, God doesn't care. Those are things that people have chosen to create gaps. I enjoyed the music, although I am not Baptist, Black or under 40.

  • Thank GOD for someone bringing in the 'gold/golden' praise of 'ole'. Just enjoy the blessing & convert some more SOULS to GOD without getting all 'fleshy' that this stuff is 'old stuff' to the some of the youTH. Some HEARER 'young and old' may not have heard it; and may want to be alerted that this is not a 'jamming, new school venture'. it like the disclaimer that tv (etc) folk put on their programs or sites. Just recieve and praise GOD for the spirit of this person's sharing heart. AMEN

  • very touching for all ages...God is timeless

  • This is a beautiful song of hope. I am 65 so you know I can relate. I happy to see some young people like this music as well. God Bless Thank you for putting this together

  • clearly new school listens to this as well.....and REAL TALK all we new schoolers do is reverse the tempo and the beat ....same words .....just a faster style........old school will always reign on their thrones but just remember that there comes a time where the crown is passed down to the new school......

  • I have been to this church ..it's in the Carrollton section of New Orleans.

  • Well, I figured I'd add my rusty pennies to the comment bowl....

....I just turned 24 and was born & raised in the baptist church. I'm not sure what "tdavidray" meant by "not the 40 & under" but I think he simply meant that a song as old as this would be unfamiliar to younger generation.

However, I agree that songs like these overpower "new millenium" gospel. Especially considering all of today's gospel is inspired by hymnals & songs just like these.

  • i LOVE old hymns!!!

  • Im 15 years old about to be 16 on march 3rd in a few days aint nan to old for my soul. Let me tell u something thats the kind of talk that makes weak minded young folk change because they dont think the song can help them and its not their fault some just were not brought up like that in church. Build people up, and not the other way around. Be careful of what you say. Old Gospel is what can truely make you change no matter how old. Be Blessed thanks for posting.
