There are very significant commitments under Defence and Security (in the Treaty on EU), including a commitment by member states to "progressively improve their military capabilities"; some 180 billion is spent on defence annually by member states: this money could be better spent combating climate change through investing in renewable energy etc.
An increasingly obfuscatory and undemocratic EU with military capability: No Thanks!
why don't they spend like 3% of each nation on defence that would equate to $580 billion. then 3% on renewable energy. that should be the minimum - unless we will just have this imaginary group of countries which do nothing but add more taxes.
This treaty will further enhance the power of institutions in Brussels without extending democratic authority to people. In Ireland, their Yes politicians have made statements who support this treaty with some of the greatest apathetic distortions people could ever have made. Ireland is a progressive forward thinking dynamic state unlike the past and will not lose its future saying No to a greatly confusing flawed document its politicians HAVENT EVEN read yet sell as a good thing to its people.
According to Cowen today you are anti EU/FF/FG/L in Ireland if you oppose Lisbon Treaty. Fear won't work when the reform treaty read is still ambiguous. Ireland needs an iron clad agreement as do many EU states. FF on you tube does not allow text debate concerning it on its posts. Why the fear? Politicians are here to serve citizens. We are pro EU yet this treaty is like buying flawed repacks in a store nobody wants. That can't be further from the truth.June 13th Ireland still with EU. Vote No !
The Treaty will be fatal to all smaller countries in terms of representation. Lets not beat around the bush, it will not be the end of the world but why vote for it, there are no benefits. Yes Europe has been good to us but that does not mean we should sell ourselves politically. READ ARTICLE 58 AND 112-3 VOTE NO.
the EU will be classified as a single legal entity if the lisbon treaty is passed. i will be voting no. so yes, it will be pretty much a super-state, or at least one step closer to a superstate status.
If The USSR was considered, by all who valued freedom and democracy, rights and values -- to be centralised, corrupt, undemocratic, over Bureaucratic and run by a Dictator Committee - to be an evil Concept forming THE enemy of the Western Free World For half a century --
how can anyone consider an near identical Soviet, when called the EU, to be anything other than an Evil Union?
Increasingly informed, honest, decent peoples empathise with a wish for death of politicians and Super States.
When the EU organisations will stop making propaganda footages with our money the way L Brejnev did in Soviet Union, and that there will be room for dialogue and concerns about WHAT the Europeans want their territory to be, maybe we could TRUST them. So far, bunch of Nice european fascists just deserve despise and hatred !
hey im just wondering isnt inflation bad their becuase u dont cut interest rates as us does i know u cut it few days ago and us dollar went up 2 cents against is britains pound is better then the eu right now cuss it can almost get 2 dollars with 1 pound?
no wonder there are so many british haters it's because of people like britonstandup what's ur problem ? europe is not trying to invade you relax the war is over get over it .. and besides ur country would be fucked without europe you should know that by now... or u know only the shitty things that happened in history damn man...
There is know way that France, Britain could hold on to their colonies alone! they need the EU to do this. Exploitation of the developing world particularly Africa is the goal. Hence cutting deals with singluar African countries which will do nothing but cause more migration to Europe. Hence more racism people follow the money.
ok so you have been trying to defeat us in war for centuries and failed,so now you come up with this european union cobblers, infiltrate our govt weaken our laws and swamp us with 5th columnists YOU WILL NEVER DEFEAT BRITAIN
It was Winston Churchill that first came up with the idea of a "United States of Europe". Britain is an independent sovereign state within a political and trade union. If you still think that it's a conspiracy, get a life. Your freedoms and rights have been vastly extended since the EU.
200 000 people in Britain have jobs that depend on our membership of the EU. Millions living or owning property in other EU countries would suddenly find themselves aliens and having no rights.
The EU is an opportunity yet to happen beyond the primitive philosophy of Jean Monnet and his socialist-gangster counterparts. Switzerland will probably join despite Christoph Blocher's intervention. EU election monitors in Africa and elsewhere, are a propaganda exercise and diversion we cannot afford.
PLEASE READ. If you really want to know what the EU is up to
Look for this book. EU final world empire by Alan Franklin. I have read it twice. You can even check out the review on amazon.
Your eyes will be opened to what is planed. Remember that Germany is involved heavy in the EU this is the nation that started two world wars and now they have power again.
Of course Germany is involved in the EU project - it has the largest population in the EU and is a hugely powerful economy. Gordon Brown, Nicholas Sarkozy and Romano Prodi all have an equal number of votes to Angela Merkel in the council of the EU.
You're view on Germany is hugely out-dated. Germany has a common interest with France, Britain, America and indeed Australia. They're friends and the EU will prevent the rise of fascism, as it has done since the 1950s.
Well, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but rest assured that within the United Kingdom the EU is regarded as an unwanted, unelected, corrupt and unaccountable dictatorship.
We won't allow further integration to go unopposed.
I've looked up your profile page. It seems you're some sort of extreme nationalist. Xenophobia, global economic shortsightedness and common greed are the biggest enemies of Europe indeed. I'm confident we will overcome that.
I am British and I know the EU is the way forward. Britains are getting fed alot of tosh about the EU by the media.
Why do you think they don't want the Euro? Cos the banks are making millions out of you buy having higher interest without the Euro. And people are wastng millions with rip off exchange rates.
I find it amusing you say 'more democratic' when the treaty was rejected by the people and had to be applied by ignoring the will of the people afterwards.
I don't find it amusing at at DarthTanner, and actually I know you don't either.
The UK's subservience to the EU is not set in stone and can be reversed very easily once New Labour have been removed from office. A referendum on the treaty is being promised by the conservatives - I hope regardless of the UK political preferences you will vote NO when the time comes.

Imperialist, communist scumbags!
druid024 4 years ago
Is that directed at the video or idiots who've, yet again, hijacked the comment section?
The EU isn't imperialist because it's members have all joined out of choice.
Neither is it communist, it has allowed free movement of trade and access to each others' markets. That's strong capitalism if you ask me.

FuckinCrazyEnglander 4 years ago
Is that directed at the Video, the EU as a whole or the people, yet again, criticising the EU for the sake of it?
The EU isn't imperialist - all it's members chose to join, none overwhelmingly in control.
A union, which promotes and encourages privatisation and the movement of goods and free trade certainly isn't communist.
