I'm pretty sure he holds the guns like that so that blocking attacks with the guns is a lot more natural. Despite wielding mid-range weapons, he chooses to do a lot of close-range combat.

Not to be mean, but this AMV is horrible. There is basically no sync at all, the beginning seems to be worked on the most, but it doesn't seem serious. The middle is basically a huge fight scene sped up. Really, start thinking of actually editing it instead of putting it together.
