One thing's for sure - by choosing anette they made clear that the sound most people fell in love with and also the songs are gone. Anette simply can't sing them, not because she does not have a voice - she does but more pop/rock voice. So songs like this, Nemo etc. sounds ridiculus.
But then again. Wish them both good luck nad I just wish that NW stops writing songs against Tarja. Move on ppl.

The guys in Nighwish were insane to get rid of her, she's one of the best female vocalists ever & her stage presence is excellent. I saw Nightwish with both vocalists & there is no comparing ,Tarja is absolutely superior. They may as well just have Marco as the lead vocalist & call it another band name. Nightwish cannot be Nightwish without female opera vocals. They built their career on it & that's what most ppl want to hear when they think of the band. but Tarja can do any old song they cannot

After seeing how they separated from her I no longer like them, I even gave em a chance seeing em live & purchased the CD with Anette, it's good but it's not what made me like them in the first place, which is opera style singing.

I feel kinda sorry for Tuomas, because his songs are much better then those Tarja did with her band after they separated. Because Anette is unable to sing those songs it just feels like Tarja stole them from Nightwish... I really wish they sorted all out and started working together again.
@H8ts Well, for as long Nightwish is stil using her backingvocals during their live performances with Anette, I don't see why Tarja can not sing these songs during her shows now... I think that she sings those songs for her fans who were also her fans when she was with Nightwish and this is a chance to hear the original version again, back in time. But, they have gone seperate ways and both are doing great, and I'm sure that Anette gives all she can to each performance.

@LoveTarja1986 Those are the same backing vocals they used with Tarja, but to me it sounds nowhere like Tarja, as far as I know it's a choir. Totally different vocal timbres, really.
As far as the covering goes, legally Tarja is free to cover whatever she wants during her shows as long as she doesn't make studio recordings of it and sell them. She's on the safe side there. I'm not sure if Tuomas is legally as free to still use her vocal material, but I'm pretty sure he really doesn't want to. ;)

Tarjas voice is prettier than Anette's, hands down, but I have always thought that Tarja simply lacked the "umph" that Anette has. Her voice always sounds too pretty too me, there's no real depth to her voice. This is one of the few songs that really showcases Tarja's vocal style.
i know that you would like to see Nettie singing like Tarja .. but puff. This is the only way to hear the siren without damaging your brains and ears with the voice of Anette and her aiaeaiaeiaie!!!!!

She studied music for long time, but often had brakes - and has never joined any "big" singing school. Since she joined NW she started take it seriously - and finally we could hear some effects. Please, don't tell me you can't see the difference between her first and last live performances in DPP tour. I think she'll always be worse than Tarja, but she isn't as bad as many people say.

The guys in Nighwish were insane to get rid of her, she's one of the best female vocalists ever & her stage presence is excellent. I saw Nightwish with both vocalists & there is no comparing ,Tarja is absolutely superior. They may as well just have Marco as the lead vocalist & call it another band name. Nightwish cannot be Nightwish without female opera vocals. They built their career on it & that's what most ppl want to hear when they think of the band. but Tarja can do any old song they cannot

Their new album with Anette has been critically acclaimed as well so the change isn't hurting them as much. While many will not agree, I've met fans who Prefer the new singer to the old one. That can legally be done as long as she gives proper writing credit, no different than anybody else covering a song, recording & releasing it. & she can easily do that for a live performance!
That would have such a powerful mental impact on NW & their fans, very high level psychological warfare.

I feel kinda sorry for Tuomas, because his songs are much better then those Tarja did with her band after they separated. Because Anette is unable to sing those songs it just feels like Tarja stole them from Nightwish... I really wish they sorted all out and started working together again.

@H8ts Well, for as long Nightwish is stil using her backingvocals during their live performances with Anette, I don't see why Tarja can not sing these songs during her shows now... I think that she sings those songs for her fans who were also her fans when she was with Nightwish and this is a chance to hear the original version again, back in time. But, they have gone seperate ways and both are doing great, and I'm sure that Anette gives all she can to each performance.

@LoveTarja1986 Those are the same backing vocals they used with Tarja, but to me it sounds nowhere like Tarja, as far as I know it's a choir. Totally different vocal timbres, really.
As far as the covering goes, legally Tarja is free to cover whatever she wants during her shows as long as she doesn't make studio recordings of it and sell them. She's on the safe side there. I'm not sure if Tuomas is legally as free to still use her vocal material, but I'm pretty sure he really doesn't want to. ;)

Tarjas voice is prettier than Anette's, hands down, but I have always thought that Tarja simply lacked the "umph" that Anette has. Her voice always sounds too pretty too me, there's no real depth to her voice. This is one of the few songs that really showcases Tarja's vocal style.

@ISeeAnIdiot Anette was bad live in 2007/2008, indeed. But in 2009 she... wasn't very good but was at least ok.
She studied music for long time, but often had brakes - and has never joined any "big" singing school. Since she joined NW she started take it seriously - and finally we could hear some effects. Please, don't tell me you can't see the difference between her first and last live performances in DPP tour. I think she'll always be worse than Tarja, but she isn't as bad as many people say.

@ISeeAnIdiot Yes she can... she is unable to do it currently 'coz of her musical education and limited study of singing. I am aware her technique sucks i do know it, but she has a high voice type, she doesn't know how to use if but she have it.
uhm. being bad live, i cannot talk about it 'coz what i think IS good is Vibeke Stene or Floor Jansen -or the AWESOME girl of DSO- and we cannot forget of the classical singers of therion... that's talking about tech at least.
