For live streaming video, you need an ordinary webcam.

The webcam can either be:

1. mounted onto the NXT for a robot's eye view, or

2. put aside separately to view the NXT from a distance

We leave it to the users to decide which method suits them the best. :)

im trying not to be a troll....but, if the webcam is pointed at the floor youll need to drive in that viewable area assuming that the vision will come from the computer near the robot, or is the webcam attached to the robot similar to a spyke or rovio setup therfor giving you the ability to drive around the house? if the later is the case you could use this as a tilt pan camera system for anything.....you know what i think you need to post some informative demos before you ask for opinons!

We think the beauty of the Mindstorms robot is the flexibility it gives you to make it anything you want it to be, and we try to cater to that with Kleekbots. :)

The way we understand your demo:

* An iPhone communicates via WiFi with a PC, which transfers the signal via bluetooth to the NXT.

* A camera on the robot transfers it's data via WiFi directly to the iPhone.

* Instead of an iPhone also other devices that can communicate via WiFi can be used to view & control the robot: for instance a laptop.

Is this correct?

We can't release much detail at this point, but we will be soon! What we can say is that the initial version will work over Wifi and USB, and Kleekbots will revolve around PCs & smartphones. Our goal is to make Kleekbots super simple to work - Build your robot, connect it to your computer, plug in a webcam if you want & click activate. Your robot and video will be instantly accessible over any smart device (that you allow) with a decent internet connection.

I would very much appreciate the ability to use leJOS code on a smartphone and, for example, be able to take advantage of the gyroscope and the camera as well as the touch screen. I wonder if the leJOS developers could help with that, although I don't know how well a specialized JDK would run on a smartphone.

It will be via WiFi or Bluetooth? if WiFi is, so a PC is needed to comunicate via bluetooth to the NXT, if is Bluetooth I dont think the Stak of the iOS of the iPhones iPods can, unles using a different Bluettoth Stack as the one in Cydia: BTStack

I vaguely recall that the NXT can be controlled over Blutooth. Is that what you intend to use, or have you got some custom sensor for it that works on WiFi? I'm guessing that would be the case, since you'll be supplying a webcam with the kit as well.
