  • is the g-scale thomas water proof?

  • do you need special track or can I use my old lionel track in the basement?

  • ae g gauge trains water proof? like built for weather?

  • @kirbyfan600 yes. all G scale are weather proof to snow, rain, even ice!

  • its train abuse

  • @maccoat i think it was suposed to make a point. not abuse them

  • they run on batteries. =P electricity + water = fail... =)

  • no they don't, those are lgb brand trains they cant run on batteries. its all electricity! i know i have the same trains and i've ran them in the rain and snow.

  • how don't the trains short cuircet?

  • Umm... don't the rails even get rusty?

  • They could. There are rail cleaners to combat this problem.

  • no thier brass rails

  • @FanToAll of course the rails don't rust, they are made out of either, brass, aluminum, or nickel silver that doesn't lose electrical conductivity.

  • The next time I make a train layout, I am certainly going to purchase smaller sized gravel / rocks! I chose the white granite as I liked the color contrast with the bricks. Yes; I simply placed the track on the rocks. Then, after running the rains - I adjusted the rocks under the track where the trains either tipped or looked uneven.

  • One more question. Did you just lay your track on rocks... Did you use anything to stabilize your track?

  • Hey I love your setup... Im kind of new to track setups. I have had LGB for years but I am now getting more into it. Are you using switches? Is there some type of remote? Is it expensive to buy an electric setup like that? I have manual switches now. If you have any insight, please let me know. Thanks

  • I do have switches - they both are manual. Electric are nice - but I have found that the weather gets them. Manual switches are much more reliable. If you want electric, I recommend USA Trains swtiches - they come with a remote.

  • lol wat was the small thing on the other track?

  • That's a USA Trains small utility vehicle.

  • wheres you tender for your train

  • The tender has a sound unit installed. It's a bad idea to spray the train in the first place - but a much worse idea to spray the tender with the sound card.

  • train wash!! you should get some conducters in bikinis lol

  • Try that with live steam and you would be stupid! lol

  • So what's a good way to keep my track's conductivity in the rain? Snow I don't have a problem with, just rain, cuz I usually end up tarping it when it rains, (well snow too, but I remove the tarp and send my snowplow units in)

  • I use rail joiners to help conductivity. Rain actually improves conductivity in my experience.

  • Good comments. I would not recommend anybody spraying their trains with a hose. This was just to illustrate how tough these trains are - and that a little water does not spoil the fun. I chose the LGB 2018 as it is old and its very heavy weight.

  • Indeed. I am releived to see that it was only done for demonstration purposes, as I had suspected. Yes the old Moguls, like and good LGB product are tough. I soon hope to buy the DSP&P Anneversery set before Trainworld runs our of them. Happy railroading.

  • Ok a little board...are you. Like me right now. I want to get out and play too.

  • where's thomas?!

  • Thomas cannot run in the rain. LBG trains are specially made. Thomas is lionel.

  • Yes LGB trains are sepcially made, but any train of any scale can run in the rain, be it an N scale train, LGB, or a G-scale Lionel. I do think this gentlman was a bit bold to sray his trains with a hose (especially a DSP&P Mogul), even though they can take it.

  • Not every video has to have Thomas in it.

  • OMG! That just amazes me! :)
