This whole album was great for me because not only did I love it myself, but this cover allowed my mom to get into it. We would hang out at home when I was a teenager and listen to the whole thing from start to finish together, all just because she recognized this song (from GFRR) and felt like it made it accessible for her. (The rest of the album too, I mean.) Good memories. Thanks for posting this! :)
I grew up in Grand Funk territory (Flint, Mi.) with this song. Always a secret favorite of mine. This is a fantastic cover. Simply played nothing fancy and great harmonies. Thanks for posting it.
A Grand Funk Railroad cover. probably impossible to do a bad cover of this. Pure Americana. some sort of White Soul thing going on that's hard to pin down here... compare with Box Tops, Arlo Guthrie..
This song has been running through my head for years and years. Loved it from the first time I heard it. Just heard it for the first time in decades on the radio and had to find it here. Thanks for posting it!
@diffdrum1 you do not know music if you think jayhawks version is superior,,have you heard GRAND FUNKs or are you tone deaf,,,this is a nice cocktail lounge version but does not come close to the great GRAND FUNK
wheres the waiting for the sun vid from these guys? i've seen the cover madison square gardeners did. pretty good but would like to see and hear the original on here.
Excellent cover. The jayhawks actually improve the song imho.

I love Jayhaws' version of this song better than the original by G.F.R.R.

@stevenmcg69 Actually it's a Grand Funk cover. But you're right, any band after the Beatles is just trying to copy them. Why do they even try?

You can hear Olson's from Minnesota when he sings the word "bad". Why have all our good bands broken up?
