  • BTW single dad, I don't want to come off as some pointy headed wad. It looks like you are using Sun Vista brand beans, which are among the best canned brands!

  • Farts are not cause by the acid (wtf?) from the cans, but by the sugars in the beans that are also present in the packing juices of the canned beans.

    A person's stomach, has stronger acid(?) than that from the can.

    Farting is caused by intestinal bacteria munching on the bean sugars..producing gas.

    Rinsing the beans in a colander (not a calendar) does reduce the overall bean sugars, as well as reduce the excess salt (sodium) used to extend the shelf life/flavor of canned beans.

  • And those intestinal bacteria that are munching on those bean sugars and fiber are making beneficial anti-inflammatory compounds(short chain fatty acids).

    Farting is a good thing.

  • they look yummy, and yes dried beans are more flavorful but canned is so much EASIER! LOL What do you serve with your beans? hey, ur kitchen is really nice!!

  • And another thing I like to add too is Jalapeno or a little bit of cayenne pepper powder and some cumin also really brings out the flavor too another mexican/cuban/indian used spice.

  • After pre-soaking dried beans overnight you can infuse stock and flavors into them when they are cooking..... it takes awhile to cook though about 1hr to 1hr 30min but the end result is very nice...all depends on how much time you have a pressure cooker can speed it up a lot....if only I had one ;)

  • Have you tried to make refried beans from the dried beans that need to be soaked? What do you find to be the difference? Canned beans are surely easier and quicker! Thanks for posting
